I have a 2013 SEL with the V6 that I bought brand new. It just turned 236,000 miles today. I am at the point where I need to make a decision. The AWD transfer case (?) is leaking and needs to be replaced (quoted $2600) and she needs new tires (would be the third set - only buy OEMs) at $1500. The suspension is getting a bit rugged and I don't know how much it might be to tighten everything up. Otherwise I love this vehicle and would keep her forever but my daughter hates the car, says the AC smells. Priced a "new" 2024 at $38K and it still has that truck-like ride. Had a few coil issues, and the driver door lock recall, but no major problems. Sell or keep? What's your advice? I saw many 2013's listed FSBO with high mileage. Maybe buy a replacement?

@@rukiddnhon Did you have to replace any coil packs or the water pump yet ? If not… at your miles - those repairs will need to be done eventually - and they are expensive. With all the other things wrong - I would go ahead and trade in that Edge now. So you can dodge those issues. But I wouldn’t get a new 2024 Edge. I’d get a 2018 (or older) Edge. 2018 is the last year they put the 3.5 liter engine in the Edge. I don’t want the new eco boost turbo engine. You can find a great 2018 for around 20-23 thousand. I would get one without the pano / glass roof. Here’s and example of one - you don’t have to get this one lol It’s 20,000$ with 41k miles and the 3.5 liter engine. @MJ100k
@MJ100k 6 дней назад
My friend- This is not enough automotive nerd research to make a decision. Once you do the research the decision will be easier for you to make. Personally in general - I would prefer the 4 cylinder 09 accord to the 09 v 6 accord. IDK what powertrain is in the 2017 accord you’re looking at. IDK why the 2017 accord was rebuilt. I general I try to avoid vehicles with rebuilt titles. So there’s a big red flag right there. -- Also, I would recommend looking at the car fax for each vehicle and think about some of the pointers I talked about out in this video. How many owners does the vehicle have? Is there a history of maintenance? Is there odometer fraud ? Has the title switched states or countries (ie Canada) Sometime people switch states or countries to “title wash”. Ie major problems may not be reported when cars switch states/countries 2- if a car makes it through the first step.. and you still want to buy it. I would have a look at it in person, take a long test drive … If you still like it… have a mechanic go look at it. It doesn’t have to be perfect… but avoid major problems … signs of major accidents.. major engine or transmission issues… major leaks etc. Once you do these things you can decide which car is best for you. Cars cost a lot of money… and there are terrible people out there waiting to rip off unsuspecting people. They sold a ton of Accords.. You’ll be able to find a good one I’m sure. So do your due diligence 💯
@MJ100k
@MJ100k 6 дней назад
As far as price… After you call a mobile mechanic to come look at the car… 99% of the time, he will find something that needs to be repaired. As long as it’s not something huge like a bad transmission etc.. You can use whatever is wrong as leverage to lower the offer… In general you can usually get 2 or 300$ off the price they were asking for. But you have to make a firm and serious offer. If they want 9500$ and you say I’ll give you 9200 or 9300$ Stand on it and politely walk out if they don’t take it. They’ll probably call you while you’re driving away to take your offer lol

Thanks for your comment. The water pump job is difficult - however, my research is showing that the engine does not need to be removed from the vehicle to complete the repair. It has to be dropped down a few inches to access the crankshaft pulley bolt. But the entire engine does not need to be removed. Here are several videos showing the repair below. Some people in the comments were able to complete the repair themselves. Hydrogen might be a decent solution if a home unit could be made to separate water (using electric)... but at the moment its not viable for consumers.

@@pilot8602 Wow - I didn’t even know they made a diesel ! Lol We don’t have that engine in the US. anyways.. I did some automotive nerd research on the engine and discovered the following: According to Wikipedia- That year crv uses a Honda N16a Earthdreams 1.6 liter diesel engine. It uses a turbo, DPF (diesel particulate filter, stop start and EGR. Looks like the 1.6 liter has a common problem with the fuel injectors: www.vehiclehistory.com/questions/what-are-the-honda-cr-v-1-6-diesel-engine-problems-105564 www.civinfo.com/threads/civic-1-6-i-dtec-injector-failure.413314/ Diesel fuel injectors operate at a much higher pressure than gasoline fuel injectors. Those injectors are more complicated and cost a lot more to replace. Also turbos and Diesel DPFs cost a lot to replace as well. It may be a bad sign that there are many diesel versions of this vehicle that you can find to buy and you cannot find the gasoline version. Looks like the market is trying to tell us something here lol 🤔 🤔 If I were you, I wouldn’t get it. Seems like an expensive proposition. Why deal with all that if you don’t have to… If you have no other option… You definitely want to have a Diesel mechanic inspect the vehicle BEFORE you buy it. Make sure he has a scan tool that can communicate with this vehicle. He may be able to perform some fuel injector test with the scan tool. And - also check some of the functions of the other diesel emissions systems. Hope that helps 👍

Most all BMW 2 series, 3 series, and M2 sold in the USA are made in SAN LUIS POTOSI PLANT in Mexico where they pay workers $2-3 dollars an hour. So you can only imagine the quality when people are being paid so little. All BMW SUVs are made in Spartenburg South Carolina where they pay $15-20 dollars an hour to the workers building them. All the North American plants are non-union while all the European factories are ALL union. There is nothing luxurious about all the faux leather, faux wood, faux carbon fiber, and cheap plastic trim in modern BMW. 77% of BMWs are 2 year leases. After that, they try to sell them as CPO. But many just end up being dumped on the used market where after just 2 years they have lost nearly 50% of their value. Nobody wants to own one out of warranty. Yes.. current flows in the circuit once the ECM provides a ground path . 👍

This is the strangest announcement... Mitsubishi Thiland made an announcement in June that the Mirage production was going to be a continuing strategic asset for the foreseeable future... And now this 2 months later.... I think I found the reasoning. Mirage had rumors about a year ago they wanted to end production... But then the sales increased by 50 or so percent... I feel because people are broke and started seeing value in a sub 20k automobile versus 40 to 80 grand automobiles. So Mitsubishi changed their minds... And thus that press release saying production was going to continue. But... Dodge who has a rebodied Mirage in Mexico and possibly other regions decided to change manufacturers and use another car for their Attitude this year in 2025... So now Mitsubishi doesn't think it's profitable to continue production.

I've only had my 21 for about 5 months and it's a hoot to drive... Granted it's a 5 speed which no longer exists (cvts only available). Incredibly easy to work on ... And strangly I kinda like it.. got the rear seats folded down and use it sort of like a short van... You can cram a lot of stuff back there strangly enough.... But I can see why people would not be happy with it. I'll be back to watch the vid when it's available!

The say CRV stands for C R A V E.

lol So what do the A and E stand for ? 🤔
@jochauRN
@jochauRN 13 дней назад
@MJ100k A & E DO NOT STAND FOR ANYTHING. They are VOWELS. In other words, you can't pronounce cr_v_ without the vowels. A & E are there for their SOUND. Think Egyptian's hieroglyphics.

@MJ100k Right. 4Runners makes sense if you don't think about it. Like, I had a 2006 4Runners until last week, and half of the time, I tried to figure out why the Toyota designer named it 4Runners, not LoneRunner or 4Wheels. Btw, look for this 2006 4Runner (82000 miles) beauty with VIN#......1976. I was the original owner until a week ago. The car never failed me during the past 18 years. I hope it will continue to serve the next owner.

So I have two ford edge now. I have kept lots and lots of used car , all brands. Nothing impressed me more than the 2010 ford edge, bought 154000 miles now after driving another 20000 miles and no issues. I went out bought another 2011 ford edge with 130 k miles. So, I have done regular maintenance all fluid changes, coolant, transmission, engine. Drives like new. So here is my 50 cents, older model ford edge is the most under appreciated suv ever. This thing is better than a Toyota better than a honda. I am not lying, it is. Why edges fail, because people don't do simple maintenance and keep running till they end. So go out look for a ford edge from people who care about their cars, edge will never disappoint. Thanks for making this video, your research is spot on.
