Even though this is a UK pressing, this sounds like rechanneled stereo. The US rechanneled stereo version was mixed differently, with a more muddy sounding playback. Opt for the original mono version, it's more powerful in sound.
Back in the 1970s I had Bills two solo albums. Monkey Grip and Stone Alone. They were so-so. He is a talented bass player. Been a Stones fan since 1967 when I was 6. Cheers from Montreal
My all time favorite Stone, so far. And one of my favorite bass players, along with John Entwislte and Pete Quaife. That's about white guys. Tamla Motown, Stax, and R& B and Soul bass players are the best.
I'm not fond of this guy PERSONALLY, but I have to say he's a musical genius. You have to check out some of the AMAZING music he was producing in the sixties! Look up his production credits on wiki.

Ja, er war ein sehr guter Bassist. Habe ihn gut 20x mit den stones gesehen. Auch als Archivar der stones hat er einen guten Job gemacht. Aber solo...nicht wirklich. Hätte er nur 10% vom Talent der Glimmer twins gehabt, ja, dann hätte er bestimmt paar gute Songs gemacht. Hätte wirklich bei den stones bleiben sollen. Die sind so groß, auch wegen dem letzten absolut geilen Album, mehr geht nicht. Die größte rockband aller Zeiten.
