The mini-led is brighter, but look how washed out it. It looks like ass. Brighter does not equal better. I like having the ability to see the game's textures instead of seeing all that bloom. I could only imagine settings the PG32 to 1700 would only make it look even more washed out. Can't even see the details in the clouds.
It’s the other way around. I have this on my desk with two oleds and the most striking thing about it was realising how much detail was being lost in HDR scenes in things like clouds due to how dim they are. In SDR, the oleds wipe the floor with the PG32UQX, in HDR it’s the complete opposite and it’s not even close.
A note for people who are confused by the title and description disagreeing about left and right. Throughout the video: Samsung (Left) vs LG (right) At 15:57 during the text rendering closeup they've swapped places: LG (Left) vs Samsung (right)
You sold me on this display you absolute chav :P OLED in the living room, the AW3225QF on my desk, I knew something was not right with HDR, I just couldnt see honestly why people gave a shit about HDR. Until firing up the PG32UQX, it's beyond gorgeous. Now i'm torn at which to keep, may keep both.
i have a PG32UQX, LG C2 42", 55" S95D, 85" QN900C, a Viewsonic 15.6 4k OLED portable monitor, and the PG32UQX destroys the OLEDs when it comes to HDR contents even the S95D. When the sun rises, it blinds my eyes, when playing God of War, it is breathtaking!! I can see all of details of the armors in God of War, the metals parts of the armors and axe look very shinny and bright while all they look dull on the OLEDs. One of the games where the OLEDs shine is Lies of P where the environments in the games are generally on the darker side. Even when viewing SDR, the Asus looks better than the OLEDs since it can go much brighter. Some people say a good monitor/tv is not about brightness, but it is when it comes to HDR. When the specular highlights in a video/movie is meant to be seen at 1000nit, your monitor needs to reach 1000nit for you to see them. Same goes with 1550 nit. 2000 nit...etc. OLED displays provide infinite contrast, but it doesn't mean it can provide the HDR impact such as a sun is rising up along the horizon. HDR impact makes you feel like you are there in the scene. On the other hand, OLED displays do much better than mini led when viewing a scene where we see a lot of buildings in the city at night from a drone view, which mini led tv/monitor struggle to display a clear image which the micro contrast on an OLED really shines. I understand the strengths and weaknesses of both technology and that's why I decided to own both. There is no need to argue which is better, get what works for you.
For the price of the G8, you’re better off to pay extra for the Asus. No point in spending that much just to go half way in terms of performance and quality.
The G7 is more comparable (165 vs 144Hz) and that is almost half the price. Personally i'd rather the much higher quality, accuracy and much brighter ASUS! There are alot of similar options coming though for much cheaper from BenQ, Philips, FFalcon, etc...with 1152 zones and 1400+ nits. There are already some reviews out for them. But none are showing them in real content like this, mainly just the numbers and graphs....I hate when they just do that. I want to see what those numbers mean, how does it translate to real content (after tone mapping...tone mapping can really change the overall picture compared to the measurements depending on the manufacturer). 😄
At 1:08 if you look towards the top right where the sky is you can see how washed out the MiniLED is. You can even see what's in the sky it's so white and too bright. OLED you can actually see everything in the distance
I cannot relate to this video at all. This person clearly has a strong like for high APL and peak brightness and isn't bothered by blooming. The assertion that miniLED's flaws don't appear often is wild. Blooming is obvious in nearly all environments when not gaming. It's especially obvious when browsing the web or moving the mouse cursor. I have owned several OLEDs and miniLEDs: *Alienware QD OLED monitor *Sony OLED TV *Asus MiniLED laptop I have also tried the Asus MiniLED he is using along with the Samsung Neo G8. They all have the same problem; *Obvious blooming -in windows, with subtitles, etc. *Terrible viewing angles *Limited micro contrast- 1000 dimming zones is just not enough *More input lag The list goes on. As long as you can mitigate the risk of burn-in, OLED's weakness is a lack of brightness above 20% window sizes. That doesn't happen often outside of high APL scenes in games and films.
OLED is definitely not a perfect technology. But I prefer gaming and watching content in a very dark room. So for me OLED is king because of its deep blacks.
You should play AAA E-sports titles, they easily hit 240fps and more even at 4K. Then you'll see a ton of smearing and ghosting on the Mini-LED. This is the main reason I choose OLED.
You said you tried the Innocn 32m2v and it didn’t compare to the Asus, could you elaborate more on how the Asus was better? I have the 27m2v which is significantly brighter than the 32m2v and has a lower response time, so maybe the 27m2v would better compare to the Asus in your video?
Also, why didn’t you compare w-OLED to the Mini-led at all? The w-OLED usually beats qd OLED in contrast and has less saturated colors. Could you show another video comparing your w-OLED to mini-led? Thanks
Is this console 120hz?? G80SD barely flickers at 120hz. You should repeat this test at 240hz with Gsync ON, and you will see how atrocious the Samsung is. Almost unusable….
I don't know what you mean, the G80SD already flickers much more than the LG in this comparison. The G80SD is my main monitor for now, but QD-OLED is kinda annoying, not gonna lie. I'm looking for something more reliable and consistent. I've also tried two WOLED monitors and didn't like them either.
I never understood the fetish for more brightness? I mean I am using like 75 brightness now and if more I would feel like I am burning my retinas. OLED for me has never been too dimm. But with that said, HDR in Windows overall doesn't feel good yet for a set-and-forget usage. It's still buggy and sometimes not switch automatic or working at all for some games. I am gonna stick with my LG 32GQ950 that I know isn't even a Mini-LED but still got a very good picture imo. It's Nano IPS so very fast still and comes with a ATQ Polarizer that helps removing any IPS Glow (mine got none!) that you are used to. Still no deep OLED Blacks but I think I can wait bit more since burn-in is still also a factor if you're gonna use the monitor for anything else then just gaming and movies. I want Micro-LED now!
It’s not about the price . The video is trying to De bunk the Myth that (oled best ) in science program , our pHD professor spend last lecture explain the Plasma/OLED best is lie . They r inferior than LED. 😮 human eyes do NOT see things -- 3D by how black , but brightness n SHADEs of Color Density for survival . In jungle n animal . U need light ! Oled has dim n cloudy day visual , in real life , eyes will NOT pick up image as fast as LED if constantly moving , due to lack of brightness n peak highlight . Things appear -- zoom OUT further , vs come to eyes closer (POP) . That’s why evey iPhone pro release , there is huge Brightness Jump on screen . U see better .
1 Month later, there is finally a new king on the block in EU, and a true competitor to the Asus PG32UQX. TCL just released their new line of miniLED monitors, the 27R83U and the 34R83Q. Both are HDR 1400 VESA Certified, and can get over 2000 nits bright in 50%-75% windows, and even up to 2000 nits peak in 100% windows! They do go down to 1200 nits after 30 minutes of full white HDR images, while also having great pixel response time and they cost 800 euro. Has the PG32UQX finally been dethroned?
I have a question, because something is strange. Samsung seems to have also dimmer colors, I think something is wrong with your calibration. That can;t be right for the sole reason thhat regarding colors volume and color vibrance, nothing beats SAMSUNG's 3rd GEN QD OLED's and especially SAMSUNG ONE's monitor which is the most over saturated.
@@User-ys7cb All Lg monitors that i have seen thus far have this horrifying mate coating. I might lean into other monitor if that is the case, even with their totl monitor suffer from bad matte coating like you said.
I personally leave VRR off on my Alienware 34DW because of the flickering, none the less the monitor is still AMAZING, only upgrade from this would be ROG's 240hz 34 or 39" WOLED
I mean yeah, the only step up from the UQX are those reference grading monitors that go for 30k+ If only the response time was decent, it would be the perfect monitor…
wow the Asus absolutely destroyed the g8. If you ever have the opportunity, can you give us a side by side comparison of the Innocn m2v vs the pg32uqx?
Just realised you didn't use much game footage on this one compared to the Samsung QD-OLED comparison. Could you include more game footage like that video would be great! Like Dead Space, the Jedi one, Cyber Punk, etc...to show how much shadow detail and highlights gets crushed on the Neo G8.
One thing nobody seems to comment on is Samsung's inability to display orange correctly, its comes off as a pinkish red like at 6:17. I have both a QLED and an LG OLED and the issue is clear as day when comparing those too.
can you recommend your top 4k monitor to me please? and did u test Samsung oled g9? I test Samsung g8 oled: it was not very bright ( darkish) but colour and black looks good, return it because text clarity was not so great and limited game mode 175hz.
Thank you for going in depth on the PG32UQX properly. The Hardware Unboxed review was so disappointing. They got hung up on the hdmi port not being 2.0, and the price of course then barely ever mentioned it again. You never see it in their comparison charts for brightness or what not. Yeah, there's still nothing else like it on the market. I'll be using mine till it dies. NV's new auto-hdr AI filter makes even SDR games look incredible, so it's gotten even more legs to it since buying it.
I received the monitor a few days ago and I'm satisfied for the most part, but there is a weird issue. It has coil whine. Nothing new for Samsung, yeah. But what's weird about it is that the coil whine vanishes when I open the OSD or when I use the smart features. It's still there if I display a completely black screen, so it's not related to what's being displayed on the monitor, although the OSD makes it stop for some reason. HDMI or DP, lower brightness, VRR on or off, 240hz or 120hz, all of that makes no difference whatsoever. The coil whine seems to come from the lower middle part of the screen.
Is there any chance of getting the ASUS PA32UCXR (an upgraded UQX for dimming zones!) in for a comparison between the PG32UQX and also maybe a brighter ASUS OLED than the Samsung G8 OLED? I would really like to know how blacks and brightness compare! Great videos btw keep them coming, you have great potential! Maybe you could get one from ASUS in for review to take a look at? It looks incredible for specs, double the dimming zones 2304, dolby vision maybe not quite as bright and 60Hz panel only! For HDR movies/series and games though it should improve the picture quality a decent amount maybe, even less blooming with more detail to the picture?
@@hasanrazza1 Has the Red Magic One came out yet? 5088 dimming zones! Insane! 😛 He said he is going to get that one in when it gets released....hopefully it's not vaporware.....I hope they use an IPS black or ADS Pro panel for even better blacks! I don't want an OLED for a monitor. 😁
I agree with you that Mini-LED has a place in the market absolutely, but what is mini-LED better at? As far as I can tell the main difference is brightness and text clarity. I don’t know if those two factors alone are enough
Can’t really see the difference because the video isn’t in HDR 🤦🏾♂️ missed opportunity, as it stands there isn’t a huge difference that can be concluded from this SDR vid
Thats the Evidence thats VA is totaly Scrap! This Brown Cast of the Samsung VA Mini LED is very disgusting and the Colors are total excessive. By the Scene with the Forest 0:24 on the VA can see nothing treetops anymore. And by Scenery with the Mountain in the Back 3:24 on the VA can nothing seen of the City in front of the Mountain and the white Clouds are green, disgusting.
He mentioned in the video that's only because of Samsungs decision to crush blacks alot for more of an OLED look. Nothing to do with the type of panel used. The UXQ with a really fast and high contrast VA panel with a good wide angle layer (making it look like IPS from straight on) would be even better than the IPS UQX for deeper blacks and less visible bloom but probably wouldn't have as good colour brightness....without significant optimising. But overall could be an improvement for the next version. I wonder if it's possible to replace the panel for a VA one or if the panel and back-light system come together as one piece.
Its kind of a shame how the manufacturers limit the monitors when QD oled TVs can get alot brighter. The 10 percent window performance is very important for hdr gaming
