Bravo! It deeply saddens me that these masterpieces do not receive enough appreciation, and we cannot guarantee that they will receive it in their own time, I think we as humans need to wait a little longer.
A must read of Professor Alan Walkers three books. Also a 1984..may be 86 radio interview of Alan Walker, by David Dubal, prof.at Julliard, discussion after Liszts first book, The Virtuoso Years. Leslie Howard on Liszt. Most interesting lecture at the Library of Congress by Mr. Walker called 'In defense of Transcription'..this gives insightful collaboration of the two of them at respect of the Altenburg in Weimar, Liszts home from 1847 to 61. Lohengrin was actually dedicated to Liszt who conducted 47 rehearsals in Weimar.
😂no someone just came in and left ihope she’ll come back and I’ll explain .I just can’t lie in bed all day . I know Kevin means well. I can put up feet on stool
Thanks Mike. You’re very kind to keep up with my efforts! Much appreciate it. Yes I do play some Handel. I’m now safely 92, with some issues that slow me down. Hope I’ll be able to post all 15 Sinfonias. How is your playing going. The Chopin you sent some time ago was very beautiful and hope you’re still happy with the piano you described last time you wrote. If your ever hereabouts do come and visit. Keep on keeping on! Everbest Nigel 🎉
Hi Nigel, there is now a new airline that has inexpensive flights from St. Louis to Massachusetts so I'm going to try to get up there soon. I will let you know when because I would love to see you!
I absolutely love the well tempered clavier. Why aren't notes set to multiples of two: A 27.5 55 110 220 440 880... A# 29.5 59 118 236 472 944... B 31.5 63 126 252 504 1008... C 33.5 67 134 268 536 1072... C# 35.5 71 142 284 568 1136... D 37.5 75 150 300 600 1200... D# With G#Ab at 49.5 Then all the notes would be harmonic fractions (and sound better to me...I'm autistic and really sensitive to pitch)? The 12 notes would be equally spaced without the stretching of equal temperament. A could be adjusted by changing the original base note from 13, 13.125, 13.25, 13.5, 13.75, 14, 14.125... up to 14.5. I know it would sound out of tune to most people, but it would make music so beautiful.
Nigel, I’m concerned to not see an upload in some months. I pray you are well. Your recent rendition of “Love Walked In” is one of my most cherished recordings. I hope all is well and that I contact you soon and speak.
Broke left shoulder some years ago . Couldn’t play for quite a while. OK now but slow. Thanks for your interest. I hope all goes well with you and your work. Everbest Nigel
I've just also listened to your faster version. Very interesting. Of the two, I think I prefer the slower, but no doubt that depends on my mood: another time I might prefer the faster. Either way, thank you for the interesting comparison 🙂
Thank you for listening and pointing out the ' bloomer re Frederick. Can't believe I did that! I thought the two tempi might be interesting. You are very kind to listen to both and to make the comment. Most gracious of you.
I think you can do trills if you experiment. People have different ways. Some people sort of shake them out of their sleeves others just use finger action etc etc. The post you sent me a while ago Chopin was best I ever heard you play. I loved it, Hope you got my comment. Do come this way. & visit again Mike. best Nigel
Thank You Paul. More one plays him the more one marvels! It is humbling. glad Lydian danced. After all its a glorified Minuet that 1st movt! Glsd he got the message! ever best n>
