I have been an AVID Nascar Diecast collector since 1989. The best company we had was Team Caliber. Lionel can make TRASH all day long cause they have absolutely no competition!!!! Very sad
i really paid $110 for a color chrome and signed Larson's car and the car is not even well balanced, the left front is a bit high upwards so it doesn't always touched the ground like the other 3 wheels.
I expect good quality graphics on 1/24 scale but being an avid hot wheels collector for years and just getting into Nascar diecast around 2021 the quality for the 1/64 scale is to be expected, you will get mis prints and errors not just a Lionel thing. fortunately the 3 1/24's i have so far (2021 Kyle Larson Cincinnati elite autograph / 2022 kyle larson Valvoline elite and 2023 kyle larson hendrick cars autograph elite) i have not found any defects on them. however some of the carded Nascar authentic 1:64s from walmart have graphic errors on them
Oh boy, they're 75 for an ARC normal next gen, and 110 for an Elite, and 80% of their products are Cup Series, with Late Models, Xfinity, and Trucks fighting for the rest of the space. And the 1/64 cost 11 bucks online, and an Authentics is 5 bucks at Walmart/Target, and the difference isn't worth double the price.
Almost all the diecasts I have are from antique stores, as I rarely buy from Lionel because I can’t exactly afford it. Chastain Florida Watermelon truck; $45… alright, reasonable I guess? Fast forward to last year, my Kurt Busch Kansas win… damn near $130 with tax and shipping thrown in. Granted it’s a basic truck versus a Cup Series Elite race win, but still. Time to save for another three years to buy a new one
It's been 5 almost 6 years the last time I bought NASCAR diecast from Lionel Racing so now I just started buying Salvinos Jr model kits since almost last year so I already bought Chase Elliott 2023 Daytona model kits from eBay and he's only under $50 and also I got William Byron's 2022 Daytona model kits for under $50 thank god I started buying Salvinos Jr model kits
Hopefully they go out of business. As long as everybody keeps buying they will not change. They just want money. I quit 9 years ago. Have no interest anymore because of that and plus nascar sucks now. It's all a sinking ship
Lionel sure knows how to piss us off. I’ve recently seen their shitty quality with the Next Gen cars from Wave 3 with the grainy decals and Wave 4 with the shitty PTC mold. Wave 4 is by far the worst.
Amen.. Finally someone who sees it. Lionel has an advantage which is why it is what it is.. They have no competition in the nascar diecast world.. If another company came around and made better quality for a comparable price lionel would then step up to the plate.. The money they charge for the special finishes can be used in better detail.. but as long as collectors like shiny un realistic diecast there not going to change anything. The big urker is the 1/64 rcca lionel and the nascar authentic retail are the same car. But you get more with the authentic with either a magnet or a sticker the rcca comes in a box so the authentic retail you get a car and either a sticker or magnet for 7.00 the rcca that comes in a box only 10.00
I totally agree with ya man. Bought a Chase Elliott diecast at MIS back in August. Paid $100 for the standard ARC. Was so damn disappointed .Definitely buyers remorse. I basically paid $100 for what was pretty much a step above a $15 toy you can get at Walmart. I used to get excited for new diecast. This one really disappointed me.

My dad used to work at a Lionel store and he left about 6 years ago because this higher price lower quality thing also happened with the trains. Never knew about the diecast cars until i was going through the secured stash he hid so his wife wouldn't throw them out. They are all about 2010-2014 and great quality even a few unopened employee only cars. I dont know a lot about these but can i open them or would that be a bad idea i would love to see the employee only ones but some of them are like 1 of 100. If I open them will this decrease the value significantly?
I collect a lot of die cast vehicles but I have a lot of planes and this is very relatable the quality of ng models and Gemini jets have gone down to the point of being broken in the box I guess die cast models aren’t what they used to be. And they have been getting MORE expensive they went from $40 to about $75.
