One of the most common questions I get is: Can a pharmacist pursue a career in dermatology or the skincare industry? Absolutely! The beauty of being a pharmacist is the incredible diversity of roles available. Before I started working in a dermatology hospital, I didn't even know such a specialty existed in Nigeria. But one day, a job opening caught my eye, and I was thrilled to discover that my pharmacy school courses in pharmacognosy and cosmetics could be applied to this field. Working in dermatology, I realized that pharmacists can truly be anything they want to be. While there was a learning curve, especially in areas like compounding and skin disease knowledge, I was able to leverage my existing skills and expertise. Here's my advice for pharmacists considering a transition to skincare or dermatology: 👉 Research and Education: Explore online courses, certifications, or continuing education opportunities related to skincare. 👉Networking: Connect with professionals in the skincare industry, including dermatologists, estheticians, and entrepreneurs. 👉Internship or Part-Time Work: Gain practical experience in a skincare setting (like a hospital, clinic, esthetician) to build your skills and knowledge. Remember you are a Pharmacists and you possess a deep understanding of medications and their interactions, so don't be afraid, you be got this. Again, the beauty of being a pharmacist is the diversity of roles you can explore. Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and pursue your passions. Pls we need more contents. I spoke with some pharmacy students and then complain was that, there are scarce pharmacy contents online. It makes navigation for pharmacy students tedious
I'm a PharmD student in Nigeria. For people that wants to do m.pharm & a PhD in Pharmacy, with a PharmD, what's the duration in Nigeria? I heard in the UK you can go straight for PhD if you have a PharmD. But i don't know if it applies the same in Nigeria
