I have a question? Thanksgiving was my holiday timeshared even years but his dad asked if my son could go out of town with him. I agreed and the next week he left him at school. I have a question that the California Labor Board in every single Department cannot seem to answer... How long can a job keep someone that is covid-19 positive, out of work? My doctor's note gave me a date of exactly 10 days to come back and my retail job is keeping me out 16 days which I'm pretty sure is illegal because what the doctor's note says, goes, not the employer. I need to know if the 16 days is illegal? And my retail job is refusing to give me my covid pay that I'm entitled to.
it makes employees feel dispensable and I'm not going to not be able to provide for my family I'm not going to allow that to happen I would turn to crime before I would allow my children to not eat or have a safe home. In Maine where I unfortunately live you have no choice state law dictates that an employer can fire an employee for any reason or no reason and without explanation. It's extremely damaging because businesses exploit this to use an individual until they are close to retirement then fire them and they ruin lives it's clearly not ethical. Another thing Maine employers do is hire people who do the job well but then fire them simply because they dislike them for one reason or another. This is happened to me before because I am somewhat of an introvert they didn't think I was any fun or a team player yet I did my job well. I did not opt to stay after work and talk to people in the office. I loved my job but I didn't know they were looking to get rid of me I overslept my four alarms I jumped out of bed and called work immediately and was told that I was done. There is rarely if there even is an issue with a job or an employee rarely does the employer ever spend the timeor give the employee the respect to sit down with them and let them know that they need to change this or that or improve on this for that. I've seen people be fired and not even know that what they were doing or not doing was an issue. This goes on your work record and it's damaging and it's awful and when you have a family to feed it is traumatic. All I want to do is work I'm a military veteran I love workingbut I don't want to gab all day with my co-workers I'd rather just do the job.And they draw conclusions such as that I'm snobby it's not that at all I'm just there to work not socialize If something is my livelihood then it's important
up in Canada where i live, "at will" employment is illegal. an employment contract that even smells like "at will" employment is considered illegal up here in Canada. odd thing is that law was passed in Canada to stop employees from walking off the job and ensure employers were protected against that.
