ATLYS is a classically trained, crossover string quartet comprised of four women. Hailed for being incredibly passionate and interactive in their performances and about their music, the four create a concert atmosphere that is absolutely mesmerizing. Using the string quartet as their blank canvas, they veer outside of the classical music box to develop creative, original covers of some of our most loved music by electrifying their instruments and using looping pedals . At the same time, they enjoy returning within the borders of that box to perform lesser-known classical works, creating a program that is both diverse and intriguing. ATLYS has over 1000 performances under their belt, having charmed audiences around the world representing Lincoln Center in New York City. They release a new music video every month.
Great video, great counting idea! It would be helpful for watching and learning to guide bow direction if you could, for sake of demonstration, hold your scroll more in place as you play. Then this exercise could also be about students discovering the wrist-elbow trajectory each player needs to feel for whole bows and smooth bow changes. I'm sure your bows are super straight, but with all the upper body fluid movement (that's normally good thing!) the straight bows are not evident to the learning viewer.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 it is THE BEST!! Glad you’re getting the benefits from this! Thank you for watching and if you know anyone who would appreciate this, send it to them! Let’s spread the word!
I have never got this to work. I rather like to play with a straight wrist or - God forbids - wrist slightly up. Gives me better controll and I can play for hours without problems. Now, if I let my hand ”dangle” it will cause a lot of tension and eventually pain (due to the the weight of the hand). But I am glad for those it works for. With this said there was nothing wrong with your explanation. I should add that I am rather tall (6 ft 3) and prefers to play on the upper part of the bow, towards the tip.
@@ATLYSmusic yes I agree. I definately think that we should more often discuss and pay attension to the impact of your body constitution - height and arm length. Crazy but there is almost nothing on this topic AT ALL on the internet and on you tube. Otherwise please post a link. For example, I would guess that shorter people have much easier to play ”by the book style” and towards the frog. While taller persons have easier to play at the tip. Of course all this also depend on your arm length. I would love a video on this topic.
@@Spintheros I'd be so curious about it as well! The only problem is that my only experience is being a petite person, so the video would have to be some kind of collaboration with a tall person...it's very fascinating!
@@ATLYSmusic keep in mind. Next time you meet with a tall violin player :) Without knowing for sure I have the feeling that many of these prefer to play towards the upper half of the bow or the tip.
Great job - as good as if not better than the quality of the arrangements from the official Hyrule Symphony CD that was released way back. Also all the performers look like you are enjoying yourselves - this deserves a lot more than 2000 views in 2 years
This is amazing! I'm so bummed I couldn't make it out for the show to see y'all playing with streetlight. I would love to see more videos of your two bands playing together if you've got some! :)
We found a basic sheet music arrangement online, but ended up sprucing it up ourselves from having played many different versions, so it's kind of our version now, and we don't have a published version...so to not have a better answer! Thank you for watching!
