Hello from everyone at The Indian Block Print Co. (was Arty Crafty Place) and a warm welcome to our RU-vid channel! Here you'll find all the tips and tricks of the craft of block printing we've gained from being in this community, hoping it will inspire others with a little spark of creativity. So let's get going!
Hello, the white paint is applied by the carvers so it allows us to see the design clearly. It is perfectly normal for the white paint to peel away and is nothing to be concerned about. There is no need to re apply the white paint, that is unless you wish to do so :)
Hello, it is always best to follow the instructions for various paints you use, we do not use or stock essdee paints but if that is what it says on the bottle then it is always best to take the advice shown on the packaging. With our own paints, we always recommend heat setting your fabric :)
Hi..really enjoy your videos. Amazing work. Youve inspired me! Just sent an order off to you. Could I just ask, when you iron the fabric,do you iron on the printed side? Also,I have ordered paints from you and wondered if they can be used on fabric and paper? Many thanks.
Thank you for your kind words, we will aim to get your order dispatched tomorrow so you can start printing your new goodies! We do have a video tutorial on heat setting, if you would like to watch it and learn everything you need to know please click this link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AypwH71fd48.html Best Wishes

Hello, you can heat set baby items the same way by using an iron (always look at the garment instructions) otherwise, you can tumble dry them but you do need to ensure the items get really hot!
Hello, we have never used a cricut iron before so we wouldn't want to say yes just in case, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. You just need to get direct heat on your prints to ensure they are fully heat set :)
Thanks Tess, for sending me my Club box after that little hiccup with my subscription - it’s cheering to know that good old fashioned customer service still exists! I’ll practice on some muslin fabric and maybe end up with a square scarf as well as this long one, who knows? At any rate, I’ll have some pretty all-purpose cloths to use. Block printed fabrics around the house cheer things up so nicely 😊. Until March! Au revoir! 🌷
Hello, we use textile fabric paint. It is our own brand and it is non toxic and water based, you have to heat set it to ensure the paint will stay on the fabric. You can find out more by clicking this link which will take you to our website :) www.theindianblockprintco.com/collections/fabric-paints
I have some little plastic glue spatulas which I use to scrap out the paint. I find it doesn’t spread so far as the sponge and doesn’t absorb any paint as the sponge does. Just as idea 😊
The paint used in this tutorial is our very own Textile Paint. It is non toxic, biodegradable and mixes beautifully with other shades in the range. It does require heat setting via iron, or at best a tumble dryer. Due to it being a non toxic paint, you iron directly over the paint once is has dried (no need to cover the fabric or iron on the reverse... you want the fabric to get as hot as it can handle) ensuring each print gets really, really hot! The link for our paints is below; www.theindianblockprintco.com/collections/fabric-paints/products/3-fabric-paints-for-12?variant=40148486357080 Many thanks :)
Instead of tipping mine out of the pot, I use a teaspoon to try to control the amount... and an old credit card to scoop up the remaining paint and put it back in the pot
Hi Lesley, underneath the bag is a foam printing mat. We always use a soft surface underneath any fabric or paper we print onto. This is because all of the blocks are hand carved and really solid, you need something soft to press the block down into and to give it a slight wiggle. This ensures you are getting the full print. Best Wishes
