I am currently 34 weeks pregnant. I did have a planned c-section a year and a half ago. I did have placenta previa in my last pregnancy. That's why it was a planned c-section. I wasn't expecting to get pregnant so soon after my last delivery. But it happened. Being that i am 34 weeks, I was told that if I should go into labor between now and 40 weeks. I immediately need to go to the hospital as a precaution so I can be monitored and avoid a uterus rupture and any complications.

You’re doomed if you do and doomed if you don’t when it comes to VBAC vs elective c-section. I’m about to have a c-section in 2 weeks because of previous complications resulting in an emergency c-section and people always ask me why.. Why is mostly none of their business BUT I tell them the truth, it’s because I have trauma around having babies, unresolved ptsd and choosing what some might call “the easy route” (having a c-section isn’t the easy route but I’m sure you’ll get what I mean), has made me feel better and more at ease with this whole experience. There’s risks to both sides…. Anything can go wrong VBAC or c-section and that’s not your fault. People telling you that it’s your fault for choosing a VBAC are the most stupidest people ever.

Currently 15 weeks pregnant with my second baby and as soon as I found out I was pregnant I knew I wanted to try for a VBAC. My first birth was extremely traumatic. Failed induction, preeclampsia, infections, high fever, covid, and ended up in an emergency c-section. My OB is very supportive of my decision with this baby of doing either or but knowing uterine rupture is a thing and there are so many risks that come with it makes me want to just do a repeat c-section even though it isnt what I really want. Stories like these are the ones that make me fear the last trimester of this pregnancy. I can't even enjoy it.😔 I am so happy that everything turned out ok with you and babygirl!🫶🏼

I’m 36 + 5 weeks pregnant and am about to have my second c-section in 2 weeks due to a previous emergency c-section. The reason why I’m opting for a c-section over a VBAC is because it’s controlled. I know exactly when to expect my baby, she’s not coming any time after the date we have planned, if my baby does happen to come early they are just going to put me straight into theatre regardless, it’s made me feel so much better knowing that I have more control over the outcome of my birth.. I didn’t realise that I had PTSD from my last pregnancy/birthing experience. Uterine rupture is a relatively rare occurrence but as you can see, it’s obviously very scary and traumatic for anyone to experience. Just do whatever makes your birth feel more comfortable for you, you’re not a failure if you opt for a c-section.

We as women need to educated ourselves when it comes to birth. This is terrifying and the professionals were so negligent. It's unfortunate we cannot just blindly trust medical professionals, but we're all human. Doing the most research you can when it comes to pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum will help decrease the number of unfortunate circumstances. The more medical interventions you have when it comes to labor and birth, the more things will start to go wrong. One intervention leading to another and another. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Your experience sounds so difficult. I hope you continue healing physically and emotionally, and that you can release yourself from feelings of guilt for choosing a VBAC. I am a midwife and remembered looking up statistics on uterine rupture… I remembered that it is most often not fatal for the mother, and that neonatal death is about 6%. I quickly Googled and found that 6% statistic again.

As a nurse, I feel that your care was grossly mismanaged from the moment the nurse saw the catheter bag full of blood and the doctor did nothing. IMO they should have immediately taken you to the OR and delivered your daughter by C-section followed by repair (or at least stabilization) of the ruptured organs. I know you can't discuss it, but I hope that you've filed a malpractice suit. And should you decide in the future that you want another child, a gestational carrier could be an option for you.

It never has made sense to me why they give Pitocin to someone who has had a c-section. There is nothing natural about the contractions from Pitocin. It increases the likelihood of rupture even if you haven’t been cut. My heart goes out to you. 💛

There are not too many videos on this subject from real ppl with experiences and you have answered so many questions and concerns that my OB and PCP did not tell me. I’m currently pregnant with our rainbow baby. I have two previous c-sections due to breeched babies and I am pushing so hard for a VBAC this time. My OB just look at me like no, why, just do a C section but not telling me why!! You are a blessing to all women and men that have had this experience or that maybe hoping for a VBAC! @@X-de4io I never considered vbacs that important or having a vaginal birth at all. As long as the baby arrived safely I didn't care and at no time have I ever felt like I missed out on anything having a caesarian. I had one, my daughter had two, my brothers wife had her child via caesarian as well. Without caesarians we would have died. I realize a lot of women regard a vaginal birth as an important experience, and oddly attach that as an important link to their womanhood, but I can't imagine why. LOL I went home before the moms who had vaginal births. Two days after surgery I left, whilst they were still having their sitz baths and dealing with tears.

@@hilaryc3203 interesting that you never considered it important- it is! I had both daughters at home, didn’t tear! Didn’t even leak because you should have a healthy pelvic floor. Had sex right away too! The best way to birth your baby- for mum & baby is vaginal physiological birth.

@@hilaryc3203 a vaginal birth is the most life changing experience! It’s someone ever mother and baby should and deserves to experience. Thanks for sharing your story! Listened to every word. I can imagine the decision to have kids being taken away. First 2 births happened in hospital and this time we decided for home birth. Medical interventions and making my wife fit their timeline is what cause my wife go under the knife. Inducing her was a big mistake and the synthetic drug puts unnatural stress on uterus and it just spiraled from there. This time it's a HBAC 2 and have such peace about it. I am thankful for your story and will take away lots from it, almost like a "what signs to look out for" if that's okay to say. It's easy to think it's all rosey but you have to also plan for the unexpected.

Awwww, try to join a support group,so you can be emotionally supported. Also i think your uterus ruptured happened because you said you had a prior c-section, and with that being said,they wasn't supposed to do that. They could had try with the non hormonal water base instead. Because that was told to me when i went in at 39 weeks because i had an prior c-section as well. Those doctors at that hospital could had avoided all of this,by telling you the truth. Because you had a previous c-section. It's best to opt out to get the induction. I pray god bless you with more children in the future in Jesus name and you just keep the faith.

Wow. I attempted the VBAC. 17 months after my first C-section. I was laboring but then after induction baby heart wasn’t tolerating it. Went in for the C-section. The Dr told me that the scar tissue from the uterus and my bladders was actually tearing. C-section ended up being a good thing. My first was vaginal. But coming to terms with I will now have to have a C-section if I get pregnant again. Having trouble with breast milk. But yet still desiring another baby has been a lot to take in. I hate C-section recovery. I wanted to have I medicated birth but hearing your story is making my jaw drop because I feel like this could have been me if I fought them. Thank god your here!

If you talk to that urogyn they would have never suggested you try to VBAC.

I had a VBAC nearly two months ago and my babies were only 16 months apart. Unfortunately sometimes people don’t heal as they should but that is rare so I hope no one is discouraged in attempting a VBAC since It’s so much better than a repeat C-section (most of the time)!

My hospital won't induce for VBAC because it increases the risk of uterine rupture. It's hard to fathom how this team did not seem to take your symptoms and pain more seriously and connect the dots.
@commonsense6967
@commonsense6967 5 месяцев назад
Induction has it's own risks, even without a previous section. When I had my first VBAC, both the doctor and I agreed I wanted no epidural and no induction, as induction can cause much stronger contractions than normal labor does, and I wanted to be aware of any unusual pain that might signal a uterine rupture. Ditto for my second VBAC.

There are women that have spontaneous uterine ruptures during their first labor. THEY DIDNT CHOOSE THAT. Choosing to VBAC is agreeing that risks are worth it. Choosing to VBAC without informing yourself of the BIGGEST risk does not mean you didn't choose it. You took a calculated risk and this was the outcome of your actions. Very sad, you did not deserve it. But lets not act like it was a random thing that happened to your body :(

I am sorry that you had to go through everything that you did. I would like to respectfully correct you on some terms that you are using concerning what you had done. You in fact did have a total hysterectomy. A partial hysterectomy leaves the cervix. If they remove the ovaries, uterus and the cervix that is called a total hysterectomy with oophorectomy. The term hysterectomy means only the uterus, oophorectomy means removal of the ovaries. For example I had a total abdominal hysterectomy. Which means that my surgery was done with a large incision through my c section scar. My ovaries were left.

In my country (where medicine is actually fucked up) it's forbidden to induce after CS or any surgery that leaves scar on the uterus because induced contractions are much stronger than the natural ones and there is a high risk of rupture or extreme bleeding. I know exactly because a friend of mine was sheduled for a cs after, i think, 40 weeks on case she wouldnt go into labour herself bc. her first son was born via. cs and they refused to induce her.

Im so sorry this happened to you ! Im in the uk, the nhs is unbelievably shocking alot of the time.. I have 3 children. First two normal, spontaneous births, both before due dates, 7 pounds 5 and 7 pounds 8, just gas and air. 1st 8hr birth 2hr pushing, 2nd 6ish hour birth, 25 mins pushing. So for my 3rd i really didnt think i would have any issues. Had a HB planned. Never teared of anything with the others, and only just made it with the second, so thought HB would be great. My wifewife ignored all my red flags also for week ! Raised BP. Protein in urine, swelling, weight gain, head aches constant and vision loss a few times. I pleased something was wrong, i said she was big! She said nope 8 pound max! Baby was 10 pound 11! So yea i had pre eclampsia, even at a home birth group my friend came to at about 36 weeks she said to the midwifes i think she has PE and i said also but nope nothing. Week before birth, so 39 weeks i had rang up saying if i walk my eyesight goes funny, like im under water ! But again nope just chill for a few hrs and see if it goes. I was begging to be made to go into labour, two previous kids i just knew. Anyway, lockdown hit those last few weeks. End of march wasnt it ? And i has her on the 16th april 2020. So so scary and thata why the wasnt watching properly, thats prob why the told me not to go up when the vision loss happend. Woke up on the 15th april, 40+2 i think., felt like i was going to die, like impending doom feeling, i was crying hysterical, told OH she needs to come up, shes not safe ect ect. Told midwife. Because of covid she didnt know if she had the clincal space to look! But she did get me the last appointment of the day, so 5ish for a sweep, done obs, urine and bloods and yea it was very bad PE worst bloods levels she had seen, i was so so poorly, got told if i hadnt managed to be seen and went sleep that night we prob would have both died.. Anyway, induction, break waters and drip, epidural (worst mistake, prob could have laboured better) PE oral meds didnt work, drip stopped working. 6cm thats all all distressed then emergency c sections. Meds for months, still health probs now. Just yea utter failure. I really would like another, but not sure i should. One thing though, i really dont understand why they induced you though! From what ive read in the uk, they only like a VBAC if you go into labour yourself and wont induce with any meds like the drip. They have other things if needed that's better. Seems from what im reading VBAC if i go in labour myself or c section and induction ups the chance of a rupture. Could be wrong, just what im reading. So so scary. Bit rant from me but yea births can be traumatic and nearly 4 years on its still hard.
