Thinking of heading over May 2026 - really appreciate this video! Thinking of starting in Banff and getting a van then traveling up to Jasper and then back down to Revelstoke for the Winter :)
Sounds amazing! Jasper had some pretty big fires recently so I’d keep an eye on how the town is but otherwise, a perfect trip! Let me know if you need anything :)
Yes, I believe that has changed since I first moved to the area. SO GOOD! Thanks for adding this here - it's always best to visit the Roam website for the most up to date information :)
What places are you interested in? I believe they are all spoken about in the video or marked in the timestamps. If not, let me know the time in the video and I can fill you in :)
Considering the environment you are hiking in and the effort required to get everything up the mountain, it was good! The lunch on day 1 was great, dinner was spaghetti which was simple but did the job and breakfast was good. It was nothing I'd rave about but we were satisfied :)
How much time do you think we would need to allocate If we are doing the Larch valley hike? We are very athletic and experienced hikers. We would also like to do the rock pile hike and just walk around the lake.
Hi! If you are experienced hikers I would recommend doing the Sentinel Pass trail, it takes you through Larch Valley and further up a pass to a beautiful ridge! It is 11.1km with 749m of elevation gain so I would estimate the time you need based on your usual hiking pace. The rockpile is only a 5-10 minute walk from the parking lot and the lake shore will be less than an hour. Allow plenty of time for photos, considering it's such a beautiful location. I can't give you an exact amount of time you need as that is completely up to you and dependant on your hiking pace, but overestimate, worst case you get to spend a little more time in this beautiful spot! Good luck :)
Hey Caitlin Thanks for this information. I have booked the shuttle to Moraine Lake for 6:25am. Now I am wondering if I will have to book for Lake Louise separately or I can use same ticket? I have booked through Moraine lake bus company. Please suggest best possible way to go about it. Thanks
Hi, it will depend on what type of ticket you booked! They have bundle options, or just direct to Moraine Lake. I would recommend reaching out to the Moraine Lake Bus Company to check in with them directly :) You can also drive yourself to Lake Louise if you need, just be prepared for traffic :)
As a french watching people from other countries talking about this visa makes me realize how much chance we have. We have deals with Air Canada for cheap flights , we have deals with some banks and assurances. Also the employment service of France will give you a 3 months training to prepare yourself for going to Canada. No need to pay extra money ir something like that. And they have job offers ( that obviously won't suit everyone ) to help us teying securing a job before arriving. Les français soyons fiers de la chance qu'on a . Ailleurs ca a l'air chaud ils sont abandonnés personne les aide...
I was just there in May..it was amazing and hot and humid but i did rent a motorcycle for 3 days riding up and down the coast Puerto Viejo..we stayed in playa negla Airbnb... right down the road from super k grocery store across the road is the motorcycle rental his name is dako cool dude...go to the jaguar rescue reserve and see the sloth's...we stayed in turrialba first before Puerto Viejo.
Looks awesome! We're planning on a trip to the Canadian Rockies this September. We were planning on booking tickets with the public Shuttle, but the government website was giving us issues and making us frustrated, so we ended up booking with the Moraine Lake Bus Company. So much easier and it doesn't cost that much more. Sorry, I ended up watching your video after we already purchased the tickets, otherwise we would have used the affiliate link.
Hi Nate, no worries at all! I hope there was some helpful information in the video for you. I hope you have an amazing trip! I know travelling in with Moraine Lake Bus Co will make it a super easy and enjoyable journey :)
@@caitlinlaurent My husband and I are also going to Banff in September. Your video is very helpful as well as so many others. Looking forward to seeing all the beauty in that area. Just saddened about the fire in Jasper!
@@BCosindas3 I’m so glad they were helpful! I have a few blog posts which might also be helpful if you need anything! I hope you have an amazing trip and the Jasper fires haven’t impacted your trip too much. It has been devastating :(
@@caitlinlaurent Thank you, Caitlin! We had hoped to spend time up in Jasper after our stay in Banff, but just changed our plans to explore more in Banff Area. Going a little north to stay near Johnston Cyn.
I'm planning to visit in the middle of September, and this was very informative. Thank you so much. I do have a few questions. I do not have a car and I'm not planning to rent one due to high prices. Can you please share with me how to commute to the must-see places in Banff National Park without a car? Also, I'm looking for a budget trip. Can you suggest a hotel with a good price/quality rate to stay at? Thank u in advance.
Hi! I would recommend checking out my website Caitlinlaurent.com. I have posts on budget travel in Banff as well as car free recommendations. I also have RU-vid videos for both topics too! Check those out and let me know if you have any more questions :)
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing. You guys should put Kilimanjaro on your bucket list. We did it last year and it was absolutely amazing. We went with Undugu Safaris.
Hi Caitlin, I'm traveling from Costa Rica to Banff in early October this year, and this is a very informative video. Thank you! My plan is to drive to Banff, and I have a question: If I buy shuttle/bus tickets to Moraine Lake in advance, will I have a reserved parking spot? One additional question, Do you think it's worth visiting Jasper as well? I was considering the Columbia Icefield experience. Thank you!
Shuttle tickets do not come with any reserved parking. If you go with the first option they will pick you up in Banff so you can leave your car at your hotel. The second option leaves from lake Louise summer gondola which should have plenty of parking, just not guaranteed! Also, yes Jasper is amazing! However there are currently wildfires in the area which have affected Jasper so I would wait until closer to make any decisions about Jasper.
Thanks for the content Caitlin, I'm heading to Bocas in a couple months. How long did you stay at Bambuda and Palmer Lodge? Palmer Lodge looks beautiful!
My parents are from suburbs of Chicago and they are retiring in Nicaragua before more people find out about it and increase prices like Mexico and Costa Rica. I too am looking at houses or to build in Nicaragua by the ocean. And now that the pacific and Caribbean are connected by new massive highways I am looking at buying land on the Caribbean side as well before investors get there.
