Those in parliament who are blocking the people's decision to leave the EU have no legitimacy to do so. Both labour, the conservatives, and the lib dems promised to respect the referendum result before, during, and after the referendum. And before the last election. In fact, it was lib dem policy to have an In or Out referendum before David Cameron got behind the idea. The result of a second peoples vote will have no more legitimacy than the first. In fact less so. The idea that if the remain campaign won this time around, those who voted to leave would accept the result is nonsensical. Why would they? What argument would you use as to why they should that you haven't already trashed by rerunning the 2016 referendum? The democratic system breaks down when mainstream political parties no longer respect the results. The lib dems have been all over the place on this issue. And now they are in the ridiculous and anti-democratic position of calling for a second peoples vote. But once again only wanting to respect the result if it goes their way. And that is only if they are unable to overturn the 2016 peoples referendum result through parliament. Worse still, the lib dems and others in parliament are now actively attempting to undermine UK negotiations with Brussels. Urging the EU not to agree to the UK government's deal - To work against the democratic will, and therefor the interests, of the people is unforgivable. And no amount of attempting to justify that by talking up the far right will change that.
