This comprehensive medical school microbiology, immunology & infectious diseases course was created collaboratively between Stanford, UW, Duke, UCSF, and University of Michigan (made possible by support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation). The course is organized into 32 playlists; each contains a patient-centered story to underscore clinical relevance of basic science concepts. Playlists also include a number of short, content-rich, narrated PowerPoint videos. The videos are to be accompanied by in-class interactive sessions. Examples of interactive session facilitator guides are posted in select playlist descriptions.
We offer this content to any who may find it of value. Your comments on videos will be key as we iterate content. If you are interested in implementing all or part of this course, we are happy to share and would only ask for your candid evaluation in return. Striongyloides is endemic in Florida. I am a 64 year old caucasian female, with numerous health issues including rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, IBS, and more. As a result, I get an infusion of Orencia monthly to suppress my immune system. Last fall, I noticed that my hair was falling out at a much faster rate than normal. Very shortly afterward, I discovered my hair moving on its own. My PCP refused to see me, and sent me to several dermatologists. After the first one was snide, and sarcastic, I knew I was going to have trouble getting diagnosed. So I bought a handheld 1600x microscope and began researching it myself. And what I found terrified me. Especially since I lived with and cared for my 84 year old mother, whose immune system shut down upon my father's death in March of 2019. She had to get an infusion of immunoglobulin every 28 days in order to give her at least some protection. None of the subsequent dermatologists believed me and refused to look at my evidence. Including the video of my hair moving on its own. By now Mama displaying symptoms of infection and our PCP sent her to yet another dermatologist. The woman was so nasty with my mother, that Mama cursed her and left. After that, she refused to see another doctor. I was told to use minoxidil, and given a prescription for Ketoconazole shampoo by one dermatologist. And my new primary care doctor wanted to put me on anti-anxiety medication. Why is it that anytime a doctor can't figure out what is wrong with the patient, the problem must be psychological? I finally bullied my way in to see to see an infectious disease doctor. By this time I had them everywhere. In my skin - and I get lesions from them - my hair, eyes, ears, mouth and throat, and everywhere, and still he would not look at my evidence, or my research, and refused to do the serology tests. Two stool samples were taken over the course of those months, and the doctors used the negative results to dismiss my certainty that what we have is Strongyloides. Either S. Stercoralis, or S. Pelodora as both have 3rd stage filiform larvae that are able to be transmitted from one host to another simply by picking up fallen hair infected with the larvae. Or drying hands on the same dishtowel. Or sitting in a chair where an infected person has sat. And most importantly, can actually invade shafts of the hosts hair. My research led me to reports of Strongyloides found in the hair shafts of dogs and other mammals. Including several humans. The infectious disease doctor prescribed 3 Ivermectin 3mg tablets, to be taken on a staggered schedule over the next x10 days. And he only did so to placate me, insisting that I don't have Strongyloides. And this inadequate treatment regimen was going to prove it. When I questioned the treatment regimen and his assertion that Strongyloides cannot live in the skin of its host, he refused to see me in the future. In fact, he tried to tell me that I couldn't possibly have strongyloides since I've not been out of the country. At which point I had to advise him that Strongyloides is endemic to Florida. Then he tried to tell me that Strongyloides can't live in skin or hair because they wouldn't be able to breathe. 🙄 I had stopped getting my infusions in January, fearing disseminated disease and hyper-infection. For months I tried everything I could think of to get us properly diagnosed and treated, In May, I took Mama to the emergency room, certain she had developed a GI bleed. This was my greatest fear, one I voiced repeatedly to doctors due to her age, overall health, and the fact that she was on blood thinners and . But they just refused to do the serological tests for Strongyloides. Mama had, in fact, developed a bleeding ulcer. She developed an infection from the laparoscopic procedure to find and clamp the ulcer, i begged them to take a biopsy of the surrounding tissue and check it for Strongyloides. They did not. I begged them to do the top 3 most accurate tests for Strongyloides. They refused . The infectious disease doctor she had in the hospital was the very same one I was sent to. Mama developed sepsis, and hospital contracted pneumonia, as well as a pseudomonas infection. She was released from the hospital with arrangements for hospice services. She died July 8th, 2024. I still get the skin lesions, i've lost over 2/3 of my hair. My urine is foamy. There are traces of blood in my sputum and stools, my IBS is in constant flare, and I have intermittent abdominal pain. I also wheeze a lot, and often wake up having difficulty breathing due to the parasites in my throat. I am weak and sleep far too much. It is probably too late for effective treatment for me. But I wanted people to know that you absolutely can get this nematode in the US. And not just Florida, though that IS where I live. And people need to know that in addition to all the symptoms described in this article, the larvae can invade hair shafts, damaging your hair, causing hair loss. So if they begin to lose hair rapidly, and other cause are ruled out, it is possibly due to a Strongyloides infection, and they should seek medical help immediately, from a reputable medical facility. Do not delay.
Thank you for these videos they are very informative and helpful! I would like to say that the O&P tests are so flawed tho. There should really be a standard of 3 to even 5 consecutive days in a row of stool sample submitted to run tests on. I understand it would be more expensive and time consuming but I believe a lot more patients would be diagnosed correctly if this were the case. This is what happened to me. I am seeing my 3rd pulmonologist in a couple weeks and am asking for sputum testing and serological testing. I assume it’s a Helminth infection but not sure how to ask for testing. I want this done right, as the stool test wasn’t! Do I ask for PCR testing and do they test for antibodies against all Helminth or do you have to specifically ask them to check for certain ones? Not sure how they would test the sputum? Thanks for this video!
NO VACCINES!!! 🤦🏻♀️🤬 I’d rather just de-worm every 6 months like other countries do. Why is it other countries have a de-worming program but not the US?! Sounds convenient to me… 😒 Also one day stool tests are useless. I suspect that’s purposeful too! 😑 They don’t want to admit that parasites are indeed alive and well in the US! You in FACT need 3 consecutive days worth of stool samples to test correctly to capture eggs. Seek out an Infectious Disease Specialist and tell them you want a sputum test checked for larvae and serological (ELISA igG) testing. I love the map. Shows ZERO parasites in the US. That is a LIE!!! 🤬
When you say that the trichinella can disseminate across any tissue ; so can they penetrate through skin and appear like a hair on your head that moves on its own? How big are these things?.( could what I fear is Morgellons be this?) IOt looks exactly;y liker strongyliod pelodora but alledgedly "only animals"? idk but I am anemic,ic and I have mad restless leg pain as well.

A IGRA is not needed -they are trying to cover up the fact that the BCG vaccine is the actual tuberculin that evolved and lays dormant and can be triggered. It also, renders a positive result. It also, leads to HIV, but here the video says, HIV leads to this TB. It’s all about the immune system weakening. Either or can cause the other. The question is where did IT/THEY come from?
Is it possible to have some sort of camera inserted into this Toxocara thing which enables people to see through your eyes? As in whatever you look at, they can see?
I got bit in 2018, went to the Drafter 3months because the bite site was swelled and itchy with a red ring. The young Dr. acted like I had leprosy and didn't check it out or do any tests for tick bites. By this time, I was getting easy bruising all over my arms or anything I bumped into when I rarely bruised. I was a very active person. I would have fever off and on and low energy in spurts. In 2021, 3 years later,I was tested and given Doxy till the bloodwork came back and I showed positive for RWJF. My arms bruise just by barely bumping something or even changing my sheets on the bed. Could this be caused by the tick bite?My Dr. I have now really doesn't seem to know or care. Thank you.

BEWARE: The sample source for EBV PCR matters: Whole blood measures every component of whole blood; plasma or serum measures only cell-free DNA. (Processing whole blood into plasma/serum REMOVES infected cells from the sample.) So, in some cases PCR using plasma/serum can be negative while PCR using whole blood can be positive in the thousands. Running simultaneous PCRs on whole blood and plasma/serum can help diagnose the type and severity of the EBV infection and EBV-related illnesses. Using PBMC as the PCR sample source is claimed to be the most "sensitive" measurement.
