You have no biblical support for telling that mother that her infant has been "sealed by the Holy Spirit". That's as bad as a catholic priest telling parents that their child has had their original sin washed away, by being baptised. Matthew 7:21
This is one of the most ridiculous "sermons" I've ever heard. Not one word of feeding their souls through giving the unadulterated gospel that people are sinners, born dead and unalive to God. There must be a rebirth, by the Spirit of God in order to know God. You preach a different Jesus and a different Jesus does not save. Feed the hungry - absolutely but if you are not at the same time, telling them the truth of why they need a saviour, you are not doing your job. Jesus was not creating a community...He was creating disciples. Portray Him as Holy and how we are to be holy also and maybe, just maybe you will get closer to what the man in the pulpit should be preaching.
A dear friend of mine died. She had led an extraordinary life beyond her Ontario birthplace ... a youth spent in Europe, principally Paris, and a marriage that took her to the California coast. She was active in her community, and when she returned to her birthplace, she continued to change the dimensions of our city. She was her own person, devoted to her children and grandchildren spread around the globe - yet a woman who needed no one else to define her. She took 2nd place to no man. The nature of her final illness afforded her time to plan. She enlisted the help of a childhood friend she'd attended Explorers with as a girl, and who had found a vocation as a United Church minister. At the funeral (which packed the large 'mother church' that is now rarely filled), her friend officiated. She explained that we'd have to turn to the order of service for one hymn because the deceased declaimed against what Voices United had done to her favourite hymn. Just as it took me awhile to realise that today's processional was actually "Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven", at her funeral, by the specific request of the genuine feminist whose passing we mourned & life we celebrated, we sang, "This is my Father's world". (A hymn iconic enough to Christian praise that Howard Shore incorporated the opening line into his Shire theme music for the Lord of the Rings movie cycle.)
The concert is glorious! Simply magnificent ! I watched it live and am watching it again for the beauty of it again. I especially loved and was moved by the performance of the Temple Sinai Congregation Ensemble Choir’s absolutely beautiful performance of their Cantor Charles Osborne’s world famous composition, “Samachti.” It brought tears to my eyes withe beautiful harmonies and the virtuoso piano and violin accompaniment, of Sue Piltch and Ross Inglis, respectively. Bravo & Brava to everyone who performed in this fabulous concert at this wonderful Church.

Do you still sound the bells 15minutes before a service? I notice the altar cross isn’t covered for LENT. Thank you posting the service. I was a a member forty years ago. Many wonderful memories.
