The Joffrey Ballet is one of the premier dance companies in the world today, with a reputation for boundary-breaking performances over the last 65 years. The Joffrey repertoire is an extensive collection of all-time classics, modern masterpieces, and original works.
Founded in 1956 by pioneers Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino, the Joffrey remains dedicated to artistic expression, innovation, and first-rate education and engagement programming. The Joffrey Ballet continues to thrive under The Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director Ashley Wheater MBE and President and CEO Greg Cameron.
Dancing is beautiful and innovative for the first 20 minutes. Then the performance falls apart. Hated the second act. Complete waste of dancer's talent...long stretches pass without any dancing. The nude leotards are ugly, boring and off-putting, meant to create genderless performers. The singing sounds like screeching as the show continues - the opposite of an angelic voice. The concept simply does not make sense to me. Most mornings, I'm very lucky, retaining between 2-5 dreams through the night. None of the performance resembles a dream to me. It's a nonsense world without meaning or connections. It's my first experience at a dance performance that I just couldn't wait to leave. A huge disappointment. Do not go.
As someone sober from alcohol for almost 10 years this piece had me in tears. It was truly extraordinary to see dependency expressed via dance. A stunning achievement that I’m so grateful to have seen… 🥰✨🎶
Just loved this ballet!! Thank you guys, I cried when you opened up with Yonder Blue...tears of joy! Knowing nothing about the piece, watching it opening night thinking "This kinda reminds me of English National Ballet's "Giselle".... Now it all make sense. So good.
As a person who used to be a part of this amazing academy of dancers I am truly grateful to have experienced and amazing part of my childhood I will forever love the Joffrey Ballet these were very magical times 2008 and 2009 I was a punch doll and a party boy and I had the privilege of going backstage and just listening to this amazing ballet it will always be one of my all time favorites
maybe I'm having bad luck with my search, but the fact that I can't find the ad that runs on RU-vid ANYWHERE online is so disappointing. as a Nutcracker mega-fan who's trying to convince everyone I know to attend, this trailer is so frustrating bc it doesn't highlight ANY of the things that attract crowds. the ad I'm looking for talks about the phenomenal dancers, HUGE puppets & international cast, which is amazing. I just don't understand why it's so hard to find a GOOD ad for this online! on YT, y'all's website, anywhere! it's mind-blowing.
