Elevator filmer focusing on NOVA and the surrounding area. Explore my channel to find first takes of the newest buildings and elevators in Northern Virginia.
For those curious - the brand new Skymark apartment building has four TKE traction elevators @ 700 FPM, along with Evolution MRLs serving parking and low-rise apartments (at an unknown speed rn). Most of RTC next seems to be TKE and not Otis, which is surprising. For the other high rises - basically everything there is Otis, mostly Gen2s @ 500 FPM. Exo's 15 story towers are surprisingly 350 FPM, but overslung.
Lol... that's Schindler in a heavy-use environment for ya. When was that? Do you mean one of the store elevators or the mall elevator? The mall 5500 has been broken for nearly half a year, as indicated in my description
Yeah that's a tough one. I was gonna guess Montgomery, a lot of their older installations have that outline around the car door frame. That being said, older monties often look similar to Armor or other generics so who knows.
I just checked the records, turns out they're Southern. Apparently they're rated for 250 FPM but the one I rode in this video speed tested at 200 FPM exactly. I'll update the title and work on attempting to update the thumbnail www.labor.communications.its.state.nc.us/elevPublic/scripts/e_pa_1d.cfm?state_id=7928
There's a super nice Dover WCR with impulse in the library at Muhlenberg College, I regret not filming it when I visited there. Totally original including the old buttons with springy contacts.
the springy buttons are nice, always fun to come across those. some newer impulse buttons are way harder to press than others. I can't stand the ones that are hard to press, but I still prefer that over newer series 1 buttons from Otis
These appear to be 3300 XL actually. Primark's 1st location in the U.S? Primarily has had locations here for the past at least 10 years so I'm not sure what exactly you mean by this.
I fixed the description, it was supposed to say Virginia's first. Is there anything explicit that makes you think these are 3350s? 3350s share fixtures with 5500s, but these absolutely do not use 3300 door equipment
@@EWPA14 yeahhh this is a gray area. i'll wait until we have more videos of these before I change the title. I highly doubt a commercial store with extremely high elevator traffic would install 3350s, and they seem a lot more like 5500s to me. The *only* thing giving me pause is the lack of high-pitched drive noise, but it's possible new models are quieter than before. I also rode 5500s in an apartment complex immediately before coming here, which acted the exact same as these. I found the records for these after a fair bit of searching, and didn't find anything new other than the fact that this store also has two service elevators @5000 lbs. plus.fairfaxcounty.gov/CitizenAccess/Cap/CapDetail.aspx?Module=Building&TabName=Building&capID1=REC23&capID2=00000&capID3=01310&agencyCode=FFX&IsToShowInspection=
i definitely believe that, the other elevator is a schindler MPH. but the records say that this was installed in 1973 for some weird reason. I'll try to update the thumbnail soon
Where is the last “‘Crane 🏗️ Toilet?🚽’” I only see four 4️⃣ “‘Crane 🏗️ Toilets’” and one 1️⃣☝️ “‘Kohler Class five 5️⃣ toilet🚽?’”🚽 You said that you own six 6️⃣ toilets: (Five 5️⃣ 🚽 “‘Crane 🏗️ Toilets’” and one 1️⃣☝️Kohler Class five 5️⃣ toilet🚽?’”🚽) [5 + 1= 6.] (So, where is that other “‘Crane Toilet?🚽’”) (By the way, I AM so so very very sorry 😞😢😣 if I AM sounding like 👍 a “‘Jerk’” to you!😞😢😣)
please refrain from making comments unreadable with emoji spam in the future. i messed up and forgot to put one of the toilets into the video when this was made, i need to change the title
it's a really nice mod (and they reused the old lanterns), but the cars (still) vibrate a bit when running, which seems to just be a byproduct of the elevonic era otis motors. i gotta visit again once all three cars are in service to see how traffic is handled, cuz it gets super backed up with only two cars
@@alternatehobbies I filmed the elevators yesterday. The 4th elevator was never an elevator. The hotel employee told me it was a fake door. And 2 out of 3 elevators have been modded. The 3rd car is out of service and turned off. I saw the shaft lights on from the 9th floor and that’s where I am staying. The 3rd and final car is on the 8th floor with the doors closed. But it’s on floors between 8 and 9 and you can see out of it. But there is definitely no scenic elevator at all here. I walked around the whole property and there wasn’t a scenic elevator. The restaurant elevator is still original and still has the series 1 fixtures. The Piedmont’s restaurant has Schindler 330a or 321a elevator. I think that elevator was a late installation. And the elevators aren’t lightning fast anymore which I am a bit disappointed about
@@dmvelevators then I must have seen super bright shaft lights in the 3rd car, my bad. were they modded by Otis? as long as they go 350 FPM, they're still "lightning fast." they just probably don't have the insane acceleration the original 401s did.
The single elevator across from the pair of two seems to have a scenic shaft, it was super bright between the doors. But if there's actually a working elevator there, it was not working when I was there. So i have no clue what's actually there
I did a full hotel tour here in 2021 and filmed the elevators. I am going there this week for a weekend getaway and I can film the elevators for you again
My local Macy's at Coral Square got this same modernization at the beginning of 2023 (as the THIRD elevator to get modernized at THAT mall), following the Montgomery Vector at Sears by Epco Survivor in 2013 and then the Westinghouse at JCPenney by GAL VPMC in 2019. ALL THREE of these mods leave KOHL'S (the elevator in my profile pic) as the ONLY all original AND unruined elevator there. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1S8yFGSRRAI.html

i still need to figure out how to get over to the other part of the garage with the impulse tractions. I tried the door at the bottom once recently and it was locked, so I might just have to walk across the roof of the garage lol when I was a monthly parker in scranton, I was in the Medallion garage, which is the one with the 400As next to the Hilton
absolutely. i hear that their equipment sucks, and I bet the only reason they get installed in the volume they do is because that low price is attractive to contractors
ah, I see you were filming some elevators in Scranton around the same time I was lol I didn't see a clip of this garage's elevators on your channel but if you filmed the medallion and linden garages, i'm sure you rode the two in this garage as well
This isn't Vertical Express, as it was done by ThyssenKrupp themselves. If it was VE it wouldn't have the ThyssenKrupp logo, & it wouldn't say TK on the records.
Well this 1 doesn't have that indicator because it's a mod. It also isn't endura because it's a mod. And you might have to go to your held for review section, but here's the link to the records:
Probably the fact that it had a very high powered flush at the time, and there was still a lot of water in the bowl when the main part of the flush ended
ok... well it's my family's house btw, which the title says. I agree with you though, the Cranes are lousy. Our previous house had two Briggs toilets that were worse though. As of now, only 3 of 6 original Crane toilets remain: Two in bathrooms we never use (one may be replaced due to equipment age), and the one that flushed the best in this video.
We have one more than some of our neighboring houses due to a small top level floor (making 4 total including our basement). Not super easy to upkeep and two of these only get used once in a blue moon - making it a question when things happen like leaks/time for replacements. When we had a plumber stop by once, he said that we may need to get the toilet/fauced in our basement replaced at some point, but we rarely use the bathroom down there so we're letting it slide until we really need to get them replaced lol
