I've played and beaten every single souls game and love them.. have never complained about their difficulty. This is the first time I honestly believe they went too far. I was not having fun anymore after 100 tries and just wanting to complete a great overall experience. I had to resort to cheesing for the first time to get past this. Really dislike this fight and won't even bother with it if I do another play through.
Ngl Impenetrable thorns goes hard in this fight. Still have to look for openings to use it. And make sure you're built to resist phys/holy damage. Edit: I also did not know you could parry some of the phase 2 attacks
While its true, dude, you are far from average 😂 Average player wouldnt go as far as using parries effectively or swapping weapon for stronger critical, but they would probably summon an ash
@pieceoftrash184 The one where he quickly flies up and back in the second phase and then does the 3 quick after image attacks in a row following up with the final AOE gravity one. It obliterated me everytime. BUT, luckily I just wooped his ass about an hour ago. Happy as hell.
There is a Talisman that improves elemental damage reduction while blocking by additional 20 percent in DLC, so you can potentially reach close to 100 %
If you skip to the end of the video you can see my build. It’s just a your average build in terms of stats but I think it’s important to have high vigor which I do at 60. And then talismans to help with critical attacks since I’m parrying. Weapons are bleed infused milady and miscericorde and a twin kite shield with carian retaliation.
Apart from the impressive parrying, I kinda agree that this would be something your average player would experience. Dodge a few hits but still get hit by some. Also, the part where you had no time to get away from the holy nuke was relatable - nothing else to do but stand there and tank it lol
comparing my and your gameplay, i basically tanked all attacks i was literally wearing the most poise and defense sets in game and was also wearing heavy defense talismans, while as you are wearing average armor and actually dodging attacks, you are not average
You mean the big one he does at start of phase two? If so, whenever he starts doing it run away until your out of range, if you can’t make it, block with a shield or whatever your holding
@@andybeephotographyI didn’t dodge it I just blocked with my shield to minimize damage. If you look at my health it goes down some just not a ton. You can actually use shield and block lots of the light attacks in this phase.
@@ColinScott27 aaah now I see, I was just confused because of the upfollowing dodge-roll that you made, but I didn't look at your health bar. So for lvl1 (or even no-hit) runs that tactic's not possible. From what I've seen so far, it's impossible to dodge that attack or even outrun it if he attacks very close distance. Bubble tear could be an option in this case of course.
@@andybeephotography yeah it’s definitely hard to avoid from super close, they’d just have to start running away the minute they saw him start doing it
I'm not an average player since I've played every from software game, and trust me, is difficult for me to parry enemies, now, against Radahn I can't even dodge his attacks and I will parry him 😂. I beat the boss, but using a shield.
I did it with a pure dex build that had Blood Backhand Blades today. I had 20 blessing and still struggled quite a bit… I had to light roll for it and basically learned how to dodge everything from videos and practice. I had pearl, physical, and marika’s braid on my talismans along with damage reduction from physick tear, so I was really into defense… I’m not very good at the game, but as long as you stack defense and learn how to dodge it, it will be alright.
@@kaiser9598 yep very true a lot of people are too worried about getting insane damage and they don’t think about defense which is arguably way more important
Didn’t watch further than 5 seconds, as any casual wouldn’t have as much viger Plus rolling the first swing? Also no magic spam? Not very casual looking are we 😅
Great video and I agree with the description, the most annoying part of the second phase is that it cuts my fps in half (literally from 60 to 30) so those flashbangs are almost seizure-inducing. If I didnt cave in and used a mimic tear I think I would genuinely start to hate it
Well thank you, but it could be just that I put lots of time into learning the moves in first phase especially, I wouldn’t say I’m at all good at phase two
The biggest takeaway ive gotten from beating him a few times now is that: He can get to your from anywhere. But you can only get to him if you're close. Don't make space to heal and buff. He can get to you instantly if he wants.
My goal is to beat him with a sword and dodging in the future. I had to use a thorn build which basically takes the fun out of it. I think The developers out did themselves!
