Launched in 2014, the Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI) is a network of passionate individuals and institutions combining their skills and resources in support of key activities to promote social innovation in health. Their united effort provides leadership to advance social innovation in health in developing countries, with the ultimate goals to achieve the SDGs and improve the lives of communities in the global south.
The SIHI Network is able to do its work with support from the TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Disease, co-sponsored by UNDP, UNICEF, the World Bank and WHO. TDR also receives additional funds from Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) to support SIHI.
Wow, With the understanding that the SIHI involve a group of people coming together to create an innovative way or bringing of different ideas to solve problems and address complex health issues.. Please how can someone be a part of this great work ?
SIHI is indeed a paradigm shift and all hands must be on deck to ensure that its purpose is fully actualised. Thank you Dr Oge for your commitment to SIHI.
Good day! One of the social innovations that we have studied in the Philippines addresses leprosy. Here is more information: socialinnovationinhealth.org/case-studies/partners-in-leprosy-action-pila-2/. Here's how you can connect with the Philippine Leprosy Mission: leprosy.org.ph/what-we-do/
It is unclear to me how your activities are funded. Is it through an ngo that raises funds or do you have membership fees to help sustain your very valuable activities?
Hi, the SIHI network is supported by TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Disease, co-sponsored by UNDP, UNICEF, the World Bank and WHO. TDR is able to conduct its work thanks to the commitment and support from a variety of funders. For the full list of TDR donors, please see: www.who.int/tdr/about/funding/en/ . TDR receives additional funding from Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, to support SIHI. SIHI Indonesia is one of the 13 country research hubs of the SIHI global network that are conducting research, capacity building, and advocacy in order to advance social innovation. The social innovation featured in the film is one of the outstanding health solutions identified and studied by the SIHI Indonesia hub in 2021. Please visit the SIHI website to know more about what we do: www.socialinnovationinhealth.org.
