I've been fishing DPR for 4 years now, and the section I fish must be 💩 or maybe i just havent figured out the river yet cause I always see vids of ppl fishing this river, such as yourself, just absolutely slaying em. I was wondering if you can give me any tips, your preferred lures to use for Pike/Bass/Saugar? How to find em...Any advice in general I'd appreciate. Anyways, love the vids.
@djkrazyt1333 Around the Rosemont area, and you just cast and straight retrieve the lures? For me and pike fishing, it's just a bunch of snags and losing half my Tackle all while catching 0 pike...
I've got a lot of fish with slingshot open and close with 8 lbs line my kids are in their 20 now and still have one each that they sell use for bass and trout fishing 🎣
Nice job. Good to see people getting out there. It's a bummer, Illinois just sucks for fishing. Especially in this area. I'm in Dupage near Cook and have fished all my life. States like Florida, and Wisconsin - amazing spots to fish. Illinois, catching a bass pushing 2 lbs is a blessing sometimes. So much polluted water, that is over fished to hell.
Icee Yes. I know the feeling and the experience. 53 out of my 57 years. It must be the polluted water. And being heavily fished in Cook and Dupage co. Going over theborder to Wis is much better. A terrible shame because we have the Kankakee, Palos hills, Dupage lakes, cook co. lakes, Lake Co, McHenry Co. and they all are poor. It’s NOT like watching Roland Martin, Al Linder, Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston. It’s definitely not. It just plain sux. If you want a carp ; great! But you can catch those anywhere. Not something you were going to actually eat; a dinner for you and your wife. Small bluegills, small and limited supply of perch, no walleye, 6 and 11” bass, northerns “huge” at 24”, Lake Michigan salmon ( September) is the only respectable thing. Every thing else is s***. I hate and resent that I have to drive OUT OF MY STATE, just to catch a respectable fish. And go to Missouri ( ozarks) or Texas ( Toledo bend) or Florida ( okechobee) Guys that post videos from Cook Co / Dupage lakes get a 15” bass and say, “ that’s a big one “ “ get the net, I think I might have a big one on” Give me a F-g break. Pathetic. Perch fishing at Montrose was great around 2005/09, but that’s over with. It really really sucks that I have to leave this state (400 miles long) just to catch a largemouth, small mouth, a stream trout, a fucking walleye. This place is bullshit. That’s why I just fish for bluegills now. For dinner. Busse: “ I think I got a big one guys, I think he’s 15”. On a plastic frog” from my cayac. Aw sh**.
I disagree, the chain of lakes is loaded with fish. Access is poor. What do you expect from forest preserve ponds. There are many ououtstanding lakes in Lake County, private though. Illinois has the most Mississippi River than any other state. Awesome fishing. Better rules than Wisconsin or Minnesota. Also less pollution than you think. Alot of the Wisconsin rivers are still messed up from the logging/paper industry. A couple years ago I had a side by side comparison. Walleye from the chain and lake Wisconsin. It wasn't even close. Chain won hands down
Was at an airbnb this weekend and they had a couple of these zebcos, didn’t get to catch anything though :( , once I fixed the problem with the line backlashing, it was a good decent rod.
I have purchased 4 of these at local Walmart's and all of them have the same problem with the reels. They will intermittently freeze the line in the middle of a cast or fail to retrieve line when reeling back in. For us, these have not been worth the $10 price due to these issues.
Great fish there. Dutch guy here . Coming to visit Chicago for holiday. Going 2 fish busse to. Staying near schaumburg. Wanna catch my first bass ever. Gr rob
I just bought that rod and reel set up at Ollie's Bargain Outlet yesterday for $8.99 just because I like how the rod feel. The reel isn't good, and I think I will buy a better reel to replace it, but the rod is fantastic! I can tell a good rod when I feel and shake it and this rod is a very good rod for trout and panfishing, especially for the price! A couple of years ago I found a rod and reel combo that looked like junk lying on the ground. I picked that rod and reel home and threw away the reel and put a new reel on the rod and now that rod is my favorite trout and panfish rod! I mean, I have spent $30 or more on a rod before and this junky looking rod out perform my more expensive rods! So don't be fooled by the prices of these rods! I like this Zebco rod so much that I'm going to buy 4 more to give to my brother, my sister, and my nephews!
Someone gave me a St. Croix Magna Flex in what looks like a leather bag, but there's no reel. I'm a fishing novice; what kind of reel should I buy to use with this rod?
Thanks for sharing. I live in Des Plaines now moved to the burbs from Chicago and love it here. I went to this river and seen a ton of fish. I have a mission to catch a gar fish spotted or short nose I heard there where some in there but the problem is I haven't fished in millions of years LOL. Where can I get lessons?
This pole is $10 bucks if you get the spincast reel on it. It's now $21 bucks if you want that spinning reel on it. Still a good deal. I just got one for my son.
Great video ✌️😎 They absolutely destroy frogs there! Eye the bank. And you can glide through weeds ✌️ A weightless senko just to build confidence 😉👍👍 Awesome Video. Happy Fishing 🎣
