We have an F1B named Chester (other way around for us, mom is a goldendoodle - golden & standard, dad is a standard poodle). Had him since he was a baby. He is everyone's best friend. Gets along with other dogs, even aggressive ones. Except bunnies, which he chases endlessly. He's never caught one (even though he is very fast, they are faster). No matter what we do with him, he acts like it is the best thing he's ever done. He loves going to the groomer and vet. Every other dog we've ever had it was always a struggle to get them in the doors. He lives for car rides. He has a very expressive face. Very easy to tell when he is excited about something. A serious creature of habit. As soon as it starts to get dark outside, he starts staring at me, waiting for his walk. We've had dogs for more than 30 years, random mixes. After having Chester, we will only get goldendoodles. The shedding is significantly less than any other breed we've had, and yes the grooming is essential. Costs us about $100 every 6-8 weeks. He pretty much came potty trained from the breeder. He does have some weird funny quirks, but we just chock that up to him being Chester. All the clerks at Home Depot, Joann's, etc. know him by name. Really nice to have a dog that we do not have to worry about any guests coming into our house. Best dog we've ever had, by far. And we've had some really good dogs.
MYTH ! Suggesting a dog of any breed has predictable traits is the same as pigeonholing human beings... it's stereotyping. MYTH... Goldendoodles are intelligent and easy to train so your Doodle will be smart and easy to train and every Goldendoodle is smart and easy to train. Sorry, I can't buy it.
Ok so I'm late to the party (two years? lol) but hopefully you can answer my question. It's about grooming ... I've heard some horror stories about matting etc ... some say that if you don't brush/comb them DAILY this can lead to matting issues. Other say you only need to give them a good brushing about once a week or so. What's your advice? (We're getting our pup in a couple of days!)
Absolutely! It depends on the dood - one of ours has more golden retriever-type hair and doesn’t need to be brushes as often. The other has more curly-poodle hair and needs to be brushed almost every day or he’ll get matted! Your puppy will have a puppy coat for the first 6ish months and then you’ll start to notice how their hair is/how often they need brushed :)
@@wollins2 We have never brushed our F1B boy, but do get him groomed every 6-8 weeks, about $100 each time. They groom him pretty short. By the time he'd normally be ready for a brushing, it is time for his next grooming appointment. He really enjoys getting groomed. We say it is his spa day.
Beautiful pooches. I have a recommendation for food. Poodle breeds have a tendency to get ear infections caused by grain in their food. Get a good grain free like Canidae. Once we figured it out we never had an ear infection again. Never give them bread either, it will cause infections as well. Love the video.
Our doodle is a little over a year old and yes he’s such a goofy boy. We didn’t get him on purpose (my son needed us to take him)- we’d been thinking of getting a standard poodle in a few years. But I love this dog.
Beautiful video! You two did a great job. Side note, next person that says their dogs are like little kids, im gonna throw up. you getting a puppy is nothing like having a baby...
I’m in NE too, and I’m looking to get a goldendoodle. I found this breeder in ME which we are thinking works for us. I was wondering where you got your pups at? Any breeder recommendations around.
We got ours at a breeder in St. Johnsbury VT! A super sweet family - Wrights Mountain Goldens! I’m sure there are many great breeders in the area, just make sure to do your research so you know they’ll be healthy ☺️
Thanks for posting this video Both of you are totally awesome and so are your dogs. I just retired and really want lo get a golden doodle for companionship and exercise. I wonder Your thoughts on two things - First I live on a semi busy road with a sidewalk and see quite a few olher dogs being walked. Is a golden doodle likely to bolt out of a house when someone opens the front door. Any precautions we should take to keep them safe. And second we have a 1/4 acre chain link fenced in yard. How likely is it that a golden doodle will climb or jump over a 4 foot fence. Thanks.
Thank you so much!! Goldendoodles are definitely very loyal dogs and shouldn’t run off, but it is different for every dog! As long as you make sure you’re not keeping the door wide open, it shouldn’t be a problem! We’ve never had issues with our pups jumping over the fence! They like to stay in the yard and play with the ball ☺️
The pros outweigh the cons by far. We still haven't found a good set of clippers for cutting Abbeys hair. Best dog ever ❤️Abbey loves smiling and showing them teeth. I never saw a dog do that before.
So cute!!! They have such a good personality! ❤️ we got clippers from pet smart that say they’re meant for long curly hair, but even those get caught in their hair! We just have to make sure they’re brushed out really well first!
Vermont is the one of the cleanest state in America and has three parties in that state and doesn't gerrymander the state best senator in America Bernie Sanders always helped the military people he respect the great military doesn't like wars
Picking up my doodle floof boy tomorrow, and I can’t wait! He’s an F1 GD. I lost my Golden Retriever to old age last September, and my Great Pyrenees/ Newfie mix has been grieving his loss ever since. I couldn’t bring myself to get another purebred Golden, so the F1 GD seemed like a good compromise. My Newfie Pyr only sheds during spring and summer, so it’s been really nice not dealing with tumble weeds of hair flying around, but my Golden Retriever used to shed ALL year, lol. Anyway, I’m ready for the hair this time, and I’m just so excited to hold my little puppy and give him a loving home.
You two make me feel happy- you are very much in love plus you love Golden Doodles. I have a standard Groodle (which is what we call Golden Doodles in Australia) with a shaggy woollen coat just like Silo and just as big! . He doesn't shed at all but sure likes to get wet and muddy. They are hilarious dogs and I agree can be stubborn at times. He is very good at picking my pocket!
Oh wow. What beauties. Silo is image of our god Bailey. Video here of him, Father and Son but very different. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nUpqZ3z0XmQ.html
Goldendoodles are the best! And beware ours is like a mud seeking missile (and in the uk we have loads!) 😂 Thanks for the self grooming tip, I might give it a try
My golden is more poodle than retriever, doesnt shed. Down side, he is very strong willed and when hyper, he cannot settle down. He has bitten through 3 leashes - at an overexcited stage. And he jumps on me and bites at my hand just to get control.
Oh my goodness! He sounds very feisty! I would definitely recommend finding a trainer! We’re still considering getting one ourselves to help with discipline
I'm getting my puppy Goldendoodle next month. I have researched them and I beleive she will be a great addition to our family. I have a 2 year old Oopsiedoodle (Newfoundland, Golden Retreiver, Poodle mix) who loves everyone and every animal and loves to play. Can't wait!!
You two are as cute as your doodles ❤️❤️ they are adorable and yes...they’re so silly 😂 we have our first doodle, she’s a crack up 😂🤣 we have always had Rottweiler’s, one was my service dog, they are super smart and highly trainable...our doodle is a challenge with her stubbornness 🤣😂 people always said, oh Rottie’s are super stubborn, Uhmmm, doodles are 😎 but with those faces...melting your heart and everyone she meets...and dogs too...you’re so right 😲 we’ve only encountered nice people right now, but yes...train...train...train 😛 Lol...train...😂 she’s two and we’re still working on her to be a service dog, maybe at 3 🤷♀️ she’s precious and we want 2 now...or a rottie friend 🤣😂 our son’s rottie was huge and her best friend, they wrestled and she would come back for more 😂😂😂😂 but, sadly, he had an operation and didn’t make it 😢😢😢💔 I love your channel and look forward to more...oh, we bought a grooming table and all the right stuff on Amazon. Yes, groomer’s do their own thing, so learn to keep up their hair ourselves has made her so happy 😍 😎 ❤️ God Bless you all🐾🐾❤️🐾🐾❤️
