We are learning this at my high school! I am so excited to play it. It is such an amazing and funky piece. And its a song where the tuba can actually be heard, which is a big part for me! Personally the best piece that ive learned.
I don’t mean to be a downer on this group, but this is collegiate and it should be quite a bit better considering they probably spent a number of weeks rehearsing it. Check out this high school group that rehearsed it for 15 hours. They even play it at tempo. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O6Mnf_k35us.html
Trumpets! You had ONE JOB ~ to hit the notes in the middle of the performance when you all moved about to be higlighted! Such a disappointment. Even if you hit the rest of the notes, you can't take back the missed first chord. A pretty decent performance overall.
I believe on the directors score it should’ve been an oboe solo, followed by a bassoon solo (which was correct at the performance), and then a tuba solo
If you are interested in such things, you might want to fix your opening credits. Both "universal" and "judgment" are spelled incorrectly. This is a very good performance and it makes a poor first impression.
Not JOHN Williams, this is by J. CLIFTON WILLIAMS Jr. (26 March 1923 Traskwood, Arkansas - 12 February 1976 Miami, Florida). Symphonic Suite won the American Bandmasters Association's Ostwald Award for original band literature in 1957. You could look it up.
