Hi! Thanks for stopping by and looking at my channel!. I've amassed a pretty large stash that I need to spend more time on. I'll be building and painting models, painting mini's, repairing old models, creating terrain, and teaching the techniques I've acquired over the years. By no means the best, but I'm proud of every finished project I do. I have models from Star Wars, Star Trek, Space:1999, Doctor Who, Planet of the Apes, and many more. Miniatures featured will be varied from Fantasy to Sci-Fi, with plenty of Warhammer 40,000 content as well. @@walt_man the 1:100 doesn't open, and I'm too leary of my skills to try it myself at the moment. I believe the 1:72 scale does open up. Thank you so much! -John
Uhu is about $10 a tube. And if you use super glue over it or pva glue, you can easily harden it up. I watched it all to see if you gave it a test because I have used Uhu on plenty to things to compare it, but I just heard you say it gets kinda hard. If you could show the back of a brush tapping on it, I might know better against the 2. However, if they are basically the same thing, I will be honest. I love DD rust. However, verdigris and moss, I can replicate easily with oils or acrylics. Or a product from Monument hobbies called Newsh. But the rust effect from DD is..... It's just priceless.. I'll pay 20 bucks all day every day for that small bottle! But if they are the same hardness, I will stick with Uhu. It is cheaper and seems way easier to work with.
@outofthisworldmodelsandmin898 anytime!! I am always happy to help spread information on my own findings and see other people test products I haven't been able to get my hands on. I do know with uhu I didn't find myself fighting it much it is sticky dead out of the gate. Use a toothpick if you get a tube, not a brush! Or one you don't care for. It you want uhu to stick to a surface verse wrapping it around a claw / tooth / thing, press it to the point for a few seconds and pull away slowly. It will make good contact! The thicker is the contact point, and you can take 2 tooth picks and go in different directions. It's a lot of fun, honestly. It will become like rubber cement after a while, though maybe 10 minutes or so of playing around with it. Easy to paint whatever color as well with contrast or normal paints. You can use fishing string to make some cool symbiote effects, too.
Nice review... Looks like the Umber got a hold of something slimy to eat. Also, I probably would have shaken the bottle off the rip as well, so thnx for the heads up!
That’s a really cool effect!!! And it’s something I wouldn’t have thought of for an Umber Hulk mini, but it works really beautifully on it! Excellent job on the paint, as well!!!
WoW! MASSILLON The "Creature from the Black Lagoon" Lives! Thank You! for your video it's "PERFECT!" The Creature (i.e Gillman) is my favorite Universal Monster to. Been thinking about buying kit...but now it's a must buy. Just, like you sir now I have color pictures from the set of the making of Revenge of the Creature as a painting guide. I'am 65yrs young been building models now before I was 6yrs old. First, model kit I ever build I'am a Monster Kid at heart?...Aurora's 1964 "You Got It!" The "Creature from the Black Lagoon"...red lips (Laugh!) Happy Modeling and Keep Up the Good Work! Matthew Caphart (i.e creaturman)
I'm so glad you enjoyed the build! Old gilly has been my favorite as long as I can remember. I still have the old aurora repop, but I picked up a resin kit of "extras" which included a better head, nicer base, and newer sculpted arms to hold an included Skate figure. Definitely pick this one up. I've seen the price slowly going up on it. Take care and thank you for the comments! -John
1st Glad I am wearing headphones for this... those suckers messed with my sleep when I saw that movie. They came out great! That sand bowl idea was pretty cool. Gratzy on the 1k milestone!
@@DaikaijuDUThank you! I'm hoping to get to the Godzilla from this series sooner than later. That's the kit that comes with the little Mothra bug. -John
They most likely meant to glue first and trim excess fabric with hobby knife. I believe Davros has silvered paper on his backrest that is installed that way. Still perfecting styrene shell when I time capsuled it.
Glad to finally see what the K-9 model looks like. Though being my favorite character, I put off buying it as Sevans was trying to simplify thier models due to difficulty complaints and I grew to like vacuform kits. No styrene parts made is sound like Sevans went too far. I built the first gen dalek and partially built Davros and an ice warrior. Dalek got crushed in a move so I'm rebuilding him and painting him this time. That was my first vacuformed model. I ordered it from Sevans direct and thought I was ripped off when I opened the box. Built it anyway and was so happy that I ordered all the others that was The Ice Warrior, The Cyberman, and Davros at the time. If I remember, it took over six months to get the retooled Cyberman, pulls were not to Sevans standards and the Davros which was having resin detail issues. Well worth the wait as the models were perfect. Ran out of plastruct liquid cement and none was locally avaliable. Apparently idiots were sniffing glue and stores only carried garbage citrus cement that destroyed more than it glued. Just found my kits boxed up and ready to continue after 20 years. With them I still have three ebay Sevans unbuilt kits, another Ice Warrior, Cyberman, and a Movie Dalek. If I can find the time, I've lots to do.
Yeah, those old kits are so hard to find now. I do have the Cyber controller, Ice Warrior, Davros, and a Dalek (gold Dalek on cover). I also have a few of the old reshape models that were based off the comet miniatures Dalek model. There's a video of the Special Weapons Dalek here on the channel. Thank you so much for the comment! -John
@outofthisworldmodelsandmin898 They made two types of the standard Dalek. The original has 1984 on the wheel carriage. The second had a simplified construction due to build complaints. I used a fair amount of styrene slurry and was happy with the 1984 model outcome. Unlike injection mold models, you can see the amount of work put into building a vacuum formed kit.
@@strayblackcatsmeow oh I know. I'm probably going to have to go back and re- glue some sections on my Ice Warrior. Some of the inner bands have started to pop. Mind you, I was about 17 at the time when I built it. 😂 -John
Great looking Gidrah! The breath attack is stunning and the added hair/fur around the head/neck came out awesome. So much seam work though! As usual picked up a couple of new tricks for the tool box. You have a great channel! Grats again on the 1k!!
Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun putting that model together. The base was done using the same method as my Death Guard bases video. Those bubbles are half pearls. Thanks for the comment! -John
Just going through your older posts and came across this gem. Ral came out great, makes me wonder how Gandalf would have done vs him. Anyways, Do you prefer working with the metal or printed/plastic figures better? Also, I found it interesting that you primed with two different colors for the skin effect. I swear I learn something new with every video!
@@HealerPig thank you so much! I use a length of paperclip. Be sure to cut it with pliers as not to damage your sprue cutters. Thanks for the comment! -John
Very good job so far. The hair and scale texture makes a huge difference. Im interested to see if you go Toho or Legendary with the final paint scheme. I have to check out the wow stick.
@@MrAnimal1971 Glad you liked it! Looking for more of a realistic Toho style, but I'm trying my best. 😎 The wow stick is so worth it, and not too pricey. Thanks for the comment! -John
@@outofthisworldmodelsandmin898 much thanks! I’m an old Battletech fan and wanted to see if 1/100 Macross sizes well with a 1/72 Dougram kit I just built.
I can't remember what I paid for back in the nineties, but I was lucky enough to get this one on eBay for $66. I've seen other on there up to and over $100, so I got lucky with $66! Thanks for the great comment! -John
If you really want to cry, watch some of those Japanese hobby shop videos. This range of Bandai Godzilla kits come up regularly and they still go for around bucks! 😢😢😢
HA! loved the cameo!! I liked the tips and the work you shared with the seams/gaps. Great work as usual and of course the subtle sense of humor inserts are fun. That 1K mile stone is right around the corner!! Also, I have become a Stynylrez convert because of your channel, best primer for me! Good luck
