Hey, maybe you could implement a new potion to go back, because especially redstone whise maybe someone actually needs a potion of slow falling for their contraption.
Hi, yes, you just need to manually start the upgrading process. Take a look at the "Update from V.2" section on the Modrinth page: modrinth.com/datapack/painting-table
Hi, if you encounter any issue or a potential export with the data pack, you can join the Discord server and report it in #datapack-issues ( discord.com/invite/w8s9XWgN6v ). Note that, of course, the data pack can't reach modded slots like bagpacks, custom equipments slots, etc. If you're using such mods, I would rather advice you to check for a modded alternative, potentially Multiverse. Some plugins may also alter the way the data pack is working, and then, prevents it to restore players' inventories correctly.
@@KawaMood well you can just get an autoclicker, drop e chests, pick them up while autoclicking, which places and opens them, and you can put stuff inside which gives you them in survival im banned from that one server anyway so i might as well tell you
Hi, what do you mean e-chest? Ender chest? If it the case you're probably referring to an older version of the data pack. On V.3 you're allowed to use ender chest in the Creative Dimension, as the inventory (including ender chests one) are independent in this dimension.
This is really cool! How did you store the player's inventory? I was thinking about making a datapack to allow players to transfer their inventory between worlds, and knowing how to store the inventory would be really nice.
Should call it the “dream dimension” since nothing from there can ever be taken to the real world. It would be cool if you could randomly be sent there when using a bed
What would elevate this to new levels of exciting would be if once the builds existed, if phantom block versions of them could be visualized in the other dimensions, so that you could then follow your template. Pretty out of scope for this, but that would be the ultimate take on this sort of thing I think.
@@kauecavalcante5261 Mods and data packs are two different things. Data packs don't require any exotic launcher like Forge or so. They are inherent to the game, like resources packs. You don't need to uninstall the data pack, only thing that can happen is if a breaking change concerning worldgen happens between two Minecraft versions, I would need to update it, but it would be done before release (during snapshots).
@@Diceof20sides Data packs work on vanilla, they are part of the game. They don't require any exotic launcher. So unless you're using a mod that alter commands, it should work on any modified version (Paper, Fabric, Neoforge, etc.). But note that it is impossible to reach modded slots such as backpacks or so in data packs. So it won't be safely usable with mods like this. Concerning the second question, no it won't be ported to older versions. For the same reasons as above, I encourage people to not mix heavy mods with data packs.
hey, i am using this on 1.21 in my survival world (atleast im trying to) and i cant get it to work, i have the waystone and everything and i named it but when i place it down i is there for half a second and then despawns and drops the item. how can i fix this?
@@Axel_500 Hi, I can't really help with exotic setup TBH. It sounds like the barrel is broken automatically or maybe the marker is moved outside, or so. It can be due to another data pack / plugin / mod or sometime even due to an unofficial client.
@@kaviscorea8302 Hi, I don't recommend to mix data packs with mods in general. There is probably a better mod/plugin-based alternative to this data pack with exotic environment, like Multiverse. Data packs are especially great for people wanting to play with a vanilla setup, or with a very few plugins only. 😉
@@KawaMood Ah gotcha; yeah I've had some messy experiences mixing datapacks and mods but was just hoping this could work Regardless thanks for letting me know about Multiverse!
This is extremely cool that you’re able to do this in vanilla now. I am concerned about the robustness of the inventory swapping and other things I’m worried someone might find a way to smuggle items back into the over world. Right now I can already think of using this to earn advancements without having to do them the normal way. Or using an ender chest, but I imagine you thought of ender chests at least?
Ender chests in this dimension are separated as well as the regular inventory. Nether and End portals can't be created in the creative dimension. I don't think I missed anything that can be exploited, unless you use mods or data packs that add other kind of content (portals or other way to teleport). In case you wonder, it is also compatible with my other data pack, Waystones. The creative dimension is blacklisted by default in this data pack, so you can't place a waystone in it. Advancements are indeed the only thing I can't touch, unless I edit them all to add a location condition in each of them. But I'm not likely to do that as it might create conflict with other data packs, or with an optional add-on only maybe.
ohh this is a great idea for trying to get a build *jusst* right, alas i only really play on a realm w my bsf or a creative world of my own so no use to me :c
I feel like having the exit mechanic tied to a potion effect is a really bad idea. While obviously a fairly niche effect, you still run the risk of someone in the future wanting to test a build or a contraption in the dimension that involves using the slowfall effect. You've already gone out of your way to create a new item and a new dimension, so why not make a new way to leave? I don't know how previous versions handled this or if it was even handled differently at all, but wouldn't doing something similar to a Nether portal where a copy of the portal is generated in the creative dimension work better than using a slowfall potion? Or even just making a new potion specifically for leaving the dimension?
From the "lore" of the first versions, I made it like the player is actually dreaming being in the Creative Dimension. The slow falling effect mimics a gentle awakening. Someone already suggested another way, but I find this way more vanilla-friendly than using a /trigger command. Assuming someone can create an "auto-slow-falling-effect-spreader" at the landing point you previously leaved the dimension is like saying someone can surround your spawn point with lava and let a single block in the middle in the overworld, so you can't do anything either. There is no reason someone would do that, and if it happens, it would clearly be a bad intention, so this is more a moderation concern. What I can do if you're really afraid about that is to prevent players who enter the dimension to get this effect for the first 10 seconds. So they have the time to escape the trap if ever it happens. Note that if you're stuck on a specific location, as an operator, you can also teleport yourself further from the overworld (like /execute in pk_cr_di:creative_superflat run tp @s 100 64 100) so you can go in and break the malicious system.
@@KawaMood I think you might be conflating my comment with another, because I never mentioned the possibility of someone setting up a system near the landing point that constantly splashes you with slow fall potions. The issue is simply that you're tying leaving the dimension with a mechanic that is already in the game. However, the issue isn't solely because of that. Rather, it's because the very nature of the dimension is to be a creative world, so you don't want to 1) limit creativity by limiting a specific feature to only being usable as a method of exiting the dimension, and 2) allowing for accidental instances where the player lobs a slowfall potion on themselves when they don't want to exit the dimension. Choosing to make exiting the dimension tied to this mechanic limit a small but still significant feature while opening up more opportunities for user error. I'm a CS student, and in all of my CS courses, the professors have always hammered one thing into our minds: the user is stupid. The user will find a way to accidentally mess up if you provide them the opportunity. When writing a program, you might understand that you shouldn't do X because you wrote the program, but the user might not understand that, or they might be more prone to doing X by mistake because they aren't familiar with the program. It's a similar situation here. As the creator, you have an intricate understanding of the data pack's design, so you inherently know that the slowfall effect is used to exit and are biased towards that choice. After all, it is pretty straightforward, and your explanation of why you made that choice makes a lot of sense. However, the user is stupid. You have essentially provided a way for them to screw themselves over on accident without realizing it. While it is a niche scenario, this is something that must be considered, especially given the circumstances. If this were a dimension akin to the Aether with sky islands and you made it so that to escape you could use a slowfall potion and jump into the void, that would be cool as fuck. But since this is a dimension specifically made to essentially be a creative world in a survival world, you have to consider the possibility that someone is going to accidentally throw the potion on themselves, or they're going to build a machine that requires it and forget that they can't use the potion that they need. As I suggested, maybe adding a new potion to the dimension would work better, or even having a prompt in chat that comes up if you use the slowfall potion that essentially asks "are you sure." It's the difference between providing a way for the user to screw up and making sure they don't screw up, and from my perspective, the way you have things set up now with the exit mechanic adds too many opportunities for user error with no checks in place to prevent such error.
@@SamS-zu8up The catch is getting back. Having been on a server that had a creative space like this, walking back may be inconvenient if you have a designated workspace that is some distance away... but then one can also just set a teleport back to the "origin" point easily enough to walk back through the gate.
