People living under dictatorship are often educated in a distorted manner, leading many to remain immature throughout their lives. They may show unreserved trust and affection towards unfamiliar individuals because they believe it is the only appropriate way to engage with strangers. Alternatively, they might act on their capricious desires once they feel you are within their sphere of influence. Such emotionally driven subjects enable their leader to mobilize them toward their fates whenever necessary. In Chinese we call them "the giant infants". I know it because I used to be one myself.
I love documentaries. This is one of the greatest I saw on the first viewing. So hard to go back and wonder: why? Mads is a unique filmmaker. For me, one of the greatest.
This was fucked up, how no one else sees that is beyond me. Using two orphaned kids especially one with disabilities as a gimic to push an agenda. So so sad. Loved the other documentary this felt very exploitative
What I think is fucked up is that you feel sorry for Jacob just because he's spastic, as if that makes him stupid and gullible. He's only spastic. Nothing wrong with his intellect, as you also clearly tell from his quick wit. He's married and has kids today, is an entrepreneur, a consultant and a positive voice in the Danish spastic community where he advocates for people to treat him and other spastics as you would others. And it's not as if he's ever expressed regret about doing this movie - in fact only the opposite. It's fine to dislike the film, but you should dislike it for the right reasons :-)
Maybe instead of being offended on their behalf without merit, you should go see for themselves what they think, both are still very much alive and well. That's the people you should be asking.
The end shot/song made me cry. What a beautiful way to close. amazing. It was also very honest about the inside contradictions. hurray, Danish (and Korean hehe) people are really something.
Yep it was terrible and ironically the only funny character in it was the one from the UK series. Is that how American sitcoms are made then with the writers all thinking up one-liners to the fit dialogue around rather than setting stuff up to invite the joke?
One of the reasons why the American pilot version is so reviled, is because it comes in the shadow of one of the best British Sitcoms ever made, in the top 10, alongside great series like Fawlty Towers and Black Adder, is Red Dwarf, truly one of the best, and to have this essentially cheap cash grab from the USA, staining the reputation of such a great show is why the USA pilot really does deserve the hate, at least the producers of it deserve the hate, not the actors. The Actors were doing jobs to pay their bills, but the motivations for NBC to make it came down to being quite scummy.
For me, what saved this documentary was Jacob's sincerity and confusion. Yes, pulling a prank in North Korea is commendable and the country definitely needs some farce, but when the director's intention wasn't just some humor and levity but to really vilify the country, the vision Simon and Jacob probably bought into before getting there, Jacob breaks down once he realizes that it's a bit more complicated than one evil leader and everyone else brainwashed. It might be true but he meets real people and sees beyond their fake smiles and facade, and that human connection, however tenuous, the kind he probably never really felt back in Denmark with his Korean and disability identities, he has a reason to empathize with NK. The director, unfortunately, doesn't get that aspect, and simply sees the situation black and white. It's still a commendable effort with good result - just lacking a bit of depth himself, which is supplemented by Jacob's humanity.
“It’s psycho creepy” 😂😂😂 That was a hilarious interjection!!😂 At the end, Jacob only came around because he got something here from the young girls he hasn’t elsewhere…….attention galore and a feeling of superiority!

This highlights a couple of things that they got wrong... Rimmer and Kryten are fired and then go on to perform their show after the fight, but to me the main one is what starts the fight? Lister is standing by himself in the bar when everyone jumps out of the seats to attack him. He actually sat down and ate the dudes pie after the fight was over :D
Why does x men, or any cartoon series must and have to always represent what’s trendy on real life ? That sounds desespérate to make money , leave fantasy alone , in that case ,in today’s world people love documentaries of sickos , why not introducing in x men someone like Alfred Kinsey , or jhon money , those sickos pedos who invented the gender theory , abusing and pretty much killing kids, it’s trendy , Netflix it’s full of documentaries of sickos , and that’s what’s happening in todays world , no one is talking about Ukraine, or the billions of abortions that are increasing in todays world , or the insane number of suicides on straight men which is the highest levels of suicide in the world , or the highest number of people who fail in schools , and are homeless , die in wars , are men, why not talking about those in x men 97 ? , , my answer is we don’t need wokeness , or social. Justice , we don’t need to be glued to reality to make a cartoon show !, fantasy , special, on x men is a way out, to dream about a different world from ours , so leave fantasy alone , star wars when it came up for the first time it wasn’t representing the real life issues of the time , ir doesn’t need to !!!!!!!!! If you gonna think like that , leave x men alone bro, by the way we must remember that wolvie likes Christianity , he was praying at the en of an episode on the old cartoons inside a church, and Christianity does not celebrate wokeness.
