Hey everyone. I'm Yvette. I ditched the hair dye several years ago. Initially, this channel was to document the growing gray journey. Well, I'm fully gray. Now, I just make videos about...anything. If RU-vid still exists 30 years from now, I will enjoy watching these videos of my "younger" years. Hahahaha. Hopefully, I will be here in 30 years. Hopefully, the planet will be hospitable to human, animal, and plant life in 30 years. Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully...
This feels ridiculous bc it’s been 4 years but I saw no one recommended my advice. You should try a brighter warm and maybe a brighter cool. I think you have a brighter skin tone and that’s why beige and gray didn’t pop. Personally I think you are neutral warm.
Ty so helpful.. Nope I'm from N..Y. My experience for the last 16 years not great at all. I had a fabulous hair stylist could work with any hair and face . You'd come out looking bombshell. It's an art only found 2 in my life. Very frustrating. I learn to live with it. BTW the $$$ SPENT IN NY everyone should look bombshell and it's not the case and can't really be justified for the vanity of it all. Your awesome 😘. Thanks for sharing your experience's.
Hi Yvette! I always appreciate your videos. I wonder if most of your followers are just like me, who feel just like YOU, in the fact that we just prefer our quiet lives. I’m wondering if socializing in a large group is what we find exhausting and perhaps a more one on one relationship with another woman who feels reluctant to go outside her comfort zone? It would certainly give you something in common. I have a friendship like that but unfortunately we’re so reluctant, we just text each other from across town and rarely meet in person for dinner or coffee 😅
Good afternoon.😃 I hope you are having a nice start to your week. I edited out much from the video to keep it as short as possible and therefore didn’t paint a full picture of the situation. I speak to my closest friends, if not daily then weekly. Because we now all live hundreds, and some thousands, miles apart we do our best to meet somewhere in the country, time permitting. So long gone are the days of a spontaneous meet up after work for a film, a coffee, stroll through the park, etc. I miss the crazy, noisy, crowded city streets where one can witness, experience, and feel so much in any given day. As an outsider where I currently live, I have become more of an observer (and listener) than a participant in social activities. What I have seen makes me not want to engage. In 2024 we (globally) should be thinking about how to levitate (being somewhat silly), find inner peace, and realize how short our earthly experience truly is so that we can actually enjoy life and others.
I completely understand the loner aspect. I'm 54 and I just can't handle the small talk, having my time wasted with people who don't care, and just the self absorbed out there.
Hi PaleOpal21. Exactly! Often, I feel dispirited when out and about among others. I forced myself to be social and it was painful. The best part was leaving and going home to read. wish I was kidding. Thank you so much for writing.
I have fine, thin, frizzy wavy hair and I use real castor oil... just a couple to a few drops... rubbed threw my hand and placed on the dry parts of my hair. I have only tried this today, and my hair has never looked better. Again, I'm only on day one, so I'm not sure if there will be any cons. 😊
I've tried castor oil, but it is so thick and not easy to coat the hair...unless I have purchased the wrong kind. I do have products that have castor oil in them among other oils and emollients. Now that some time has passed do you still like how it makes your hair look and feel?
I started following your channel for the gray inspiration. I continue to follow because you share things that are real and relevant to me. I look forward to seeing your new content. BTW, I saw you in person a few months ago. I didn't approach you, but it was a pleasure seeing you.
Dee4271-that is so sweet. Thank you for the follow. I hope I can figure out a way to make meaningful content that speaks to growing older in this NUTTY world. Girl, you saw me. LOL. That is too funny. I'm usually in a grocery story or in Target wondering what I'm doing with my life. Hahahah. By the way, I hope you didn't see me at one of my favorite bakeries showing pastry down my throat (to then get on youtube and wonder why my pants don't fit). By the way, my hair is now some weird color (Yep, I was back in the beauty supply store getting semi-permanent dye to slop onto my hair to whine about later.) It is now a strange apricot or orange-beige color. I never learn. Have a great evening!
I really like knowing that im not the only one who experiences the same things you do. You are completely lovely and completely relatable. I came to your channel for the grey grow out but I loved your videos where you took us on your weekend day trips to the city. I love your outfit videos as well. I most of all, love your independent strength💔🍾
H1 tracyg8772! I hope all is well. Thank you so much for your support and kind words about my channel and the things I have shared. There are so many of us out here in this world still trying to make sense of it (the world) and find our comfortable place in it. I say that and yet there's a part of me that never really wants to fit in any place comfortably. Maybe I'm too cynical (I'm working on that). I've been thinking about things to record and hope I will have better content coming up. Have a peaceful evening. :)
I'm 54 years old and like the fact that your videos are spontaneous, authentic, and organic. Also, I decided that life is too short to care about what others think.
PaleOpal. Hi there. Thank you so much for your support. So many of you are very kind, but girl, I do recognize these videos need some work (LOLOL). Regarding not caring about what others think, I'm working on practicing detachment. There are still moments and situations where I care, but NOT as much as when I was young and in need of validation. The older I get the more I realize that even if I could walk on water, turn stones into bread, fart roses, and perform open heart surgery whilst skiing down a black-diamond-level mountain, there still would be some who would not appreciate my abilities. Have a great evening and thank you again.
I love new starts but I'm always starting them because of my follow through issues. The good news is that I haven't given up. With that said, I'm working on my old home trying to overcome that overwhelmed feeling that causes me to stop. I'm needing to set up a small workout area and an area to juice and cook. Those are my needs and plans in a nutshell.
New starts are wonderful!!! It is very easy to become overwhelmed because often we believe we have to see a result immediately or very soon or finish a project in record-breaking time. Well, that is my issue anyway. I'm the type to skip a meal and hope that scale is going to show a 15lb loss the next morning. I love your plans and it sounds like you are going to reach all your goals. Thanks for the idea, I may dig out my old Juiceman, as I refuse to buy another gadget, and start making some juice. Which is your favorite juice combo?
I do thiS in the shower and I use a tangle teezer brush instead and once I get out of shower I'll plop for 20min then let the rest air dry. Mousse side has more volume I like that side better
Olaplex BOND is the clue in the title of the name……and Olaplex product has a bond in it so anything you use insofar as a deposit color, will not work as well as something that does NOT close the cuticle prior to putting a deposit only color on as the color will just sit on top of the hair vs coating it and lasting longer. I do LOVE Olaplex but every one of their products has its place. I am not sure I would use a clarifying shampoo on ANY ‘dry’ part of your hair. Clarifying shampoo does just that. And this one in particular will not only clarify as in DEEP CLEAN (strip) your hair of all things coating it, but it will also (due to the bonder) close the cuticle so you do not get the same outcome. Just FYI….
Not sure what happened to my comment. I recommended Mixed chicks coil, kinks and curl cream which is under $9 at places like TJMaxx, Marshalls, Kohls. Also, i like the Pattern Transition Mask for detangling and conditioning with the UnBrush.
Hi! 🌸 Thank you for the recommendations. I believe I may have tried mixed chicks years ago. I may revisit it. I have tried the Transition mask too. It was nice, but cannot remember if it provided enough moisture. Never heard of the UnBrush. May have to look into it. Have a wonderful day! 🌸☺️
Hola. Oh, desearía poder hablar Espanol con fluidez. Debería hablar el idioma con fluidez considerando que mi educación formativa comenzó en un colegio bilingüe. Planeo practicar español en un futuro próximo.
I do like the Giovanni Weightless Leave-In Conditioner. As a matter of fact, I prefer it over the smoothing castor oil leave-in. The only issue I have with all these products is that they do not leave my hair with a nice shine. I’m starting to think it is just my hair. I also like Kinky Curly Knot Today. That is one to try as well. There are so many to choose from. I’m still hoping I will find one that will make a difference to my curls like the TGIN Miracle Honey Mask. I’m still in love with that product.
Thank you. A few of my family members and friends tried it and suggested it to me. I was not going to bother but I am glad I did. I have NEVER been able to have nice-looking curls without product, so I am super impressed. I would describe my hair as very dry, low density, high porosity hair, 3b/3c wavy curls. They suggest you use their shampoo and conditioner first. I did not do that, but I did follow the other instructions, including rinsing with cool water. Have a wonderful weekend.
Good day. This product says it is for all hair types. I have low density, high porosity, DRY, 3b/3c wavy curly hair and it was NOT too heavy for my curls. I have been experimenting with many other leave-in conditioners and while this one gives me nice looking curls and is in my top ten, it is closer to the bottom. It is a nice product, but not one that I would repurchase.
Hi, happy Friday. When the line came out I was like "Another haircare line that is not going to do anything for me." I am so glad I gave it a try. Yes, try it again, but make sure you wear the plastic cap or sit under a dryer. I think the intensity of heat, so that the mask can penetrate the hair cuticle, is what makes a difference (I don't know diddly about hair, but that is what I suspect). While I did not follow their instructions about using the shampoo and conditioner, I did follow the other instructions (length of time and rinsing with cool water).
LOL!!!! For me, it truly is a wow experience. My hair is like straw; to be able to get curls without styling products and just from using a hair mask is fantastic. Have an awesome day.
I never had the infamous Deva cuts, but I'm assuming all curly cuts follow a similar cutting style. The last haircut I got was the end for me. I was mostly getting bobs (just straight across the bottom cuts), but recently I got a few layers. I wanted them on the top only, but ended up getting layers throughout. They are not that noticeable, but the haircut is just plain old bad. How about you? What kind of cuts do you ask for, generally?
@@YvettesDay , I’ve had different types of curly cuts. Deva and Ouidad cuts are different. Deva have been the worst for me. I usually ask them to leave a strong perimeter so that my ends don’t disappear, but they seem either to not understand me, or they think they know better. It’s incredibly annoying. Right now I’m growing out a bad cut.
lol! I believe I have had these cuts but just not called Deva or Ouidad. I am not a fan of these cuts because when you do want to straighten your hair it is not even. Sigh.😔 I am 100 % with you about the perimeter. My ends are whispy and need as much weight as possible to give the appearance of full/thick hair.
@@YvettesDay , that’s exactly what I mean about the perimeter. I need it to give my hair weight and make it look fuller. Also, my hair curls weirdly when the curls are cut into. It all starts curling in different directions and is just harder for me to handle.
Oh wow! I would have never thought to leave it in that long. My hair is all grown out now, so I don’t have to tone it anymore. But one day I might color it again. 😊
@@YvettesDay I talked to my neighbor who is a hairdresser and she said you must check every 10 min and make sure the room is very well lit. So I'm also following her advice.
Hi! Thank you so much. I hope you are excited about your journey and already seeing what your gray pattern may be. I have been having the hardest time finding the music. Initially I thought it was one of the RU-vid free music tunes, but now I’m thinking it could be one from Filmora. I saw nothing in RU-vid music. Give me a few days to check Filmora. Have a wonderful Sunday. Will get back to you.
@@YvettesDay okay, awesome! And ty so much.. It's so hard to find good stuff anymore it seems. I love me some gospel tho! But I'm talking jazzy blusey instrumentals for sure.. 🌹 My natural hair was a dark brown forever.. And I used to dye it and have also bleached it a lot 🤨 but I stopped around 2021 when COVID hit,, and then went crazy and bleached it after I let it grow in so much!! Big mistake... Cause A LOT of my beautiful healthy longer hair fell out in large quanity jnforrunanrlt. I was so embarrassed and sad... And had to just show my hair a lot of love with lots of masks and good shampoos bad conditioners and less heat, and also used scall oils once in a while too. And now I have reddish brown ends that are erking me... But it's growing! And that the plus of it all.. Cause I can see my greys well, and they look frosted all through my hair now.. It's a bit shiney silver and some even white... Im 39 now and I'm excited but also still going stir crazy about these ends... And I would love it to all be one length again... But I know it will take time and patience.. And I only pray I can have that. .. Cause I still have hair bleach and toners and dyes bad all that mess that I know isn't healthy for me.. But it's the joy I felt when I played with my hair colors that I do miss the most... I try to just enjoy watching and pampering my hair these days mostly. And really struggle with just leaving it alone already until I need general trims here and there to balance out the choppy length. My hair is like shoulder length but unintentially layered.. And I was blessed with thick strands and thick hair for sure.. Thank the Lord for that.. It helps me to hide some of the choppy. Lol. Your videos are very inspiring and you have beautiful hair so I had to say something.. 🤍 Have a blessed week.
Good morning. I haven't forgotten to look for the song, but still haven't done it. Last night when I was doing laundry at 8:00 p,m. I asked myself where did the time go. I also bleached my hair. It was ORANGE. HIDEOUSLY orange. I started using toners. The downside is that to get a great "tone" you have to use a developer which is more bleach, but the upside is that you would only have to do the ends. I love the Wella ColorCharm toners. I would use those that said they were beige, caramel, or ash tones. They did tone down the orange. My hair is terribly dry. No matter what I would use the ends would dry up and I do NOT blow dry or flat iron my hair with any regularity. I have found two conditioners that are AMAZING and will do a video about them very soon. They are NOT new to the market, but new to me. Thank you so much for your kindness. I will be in touch with that darn song.
Finally, I got into Filmora to look for the music. Because I have updated my filmora and, apparently, did not save my older video files, I could not open this "Get ready with me (Work Day)" to check what music I downloaded. It was a copyright free piece of music from Filmora (the video editing system I use). I am very sorry. I was hoping I could share it with you. I am disappointed too because I don't have my original videos stored like i thought I did.
@@YvettesDay thank you for the info about the toners and bummer on the song, but ty for trying to find out for sure. Whatever ur was, was wonderful lol.. I even tried to "hey Google what's the name of this song, and him it 😂😂😂😂" didn't work.. Lmbo 😜 .. But it's okay..maybe I'll find it again if I use the editer app u did later lol! We just got moved to our property and . Y hair is showing more silvery white streaks! Like full streaks.. I'm kinda diggin it and thinking now I need to just trim and deep condition and leave it be.... I've been getting I to diff hair clips and styles I can do w those instead and it's def calming down my "I hv to do something" vibe! Besides I'm so busy these days with remodeling.. Literally gutting rooms and building on new rooms ect! It's been so cool!! And it's only been a week! 🤣 .. My husband and I are on a mission. When he isn't at work, we're working at hm together.. And right now, we are trying to get our washer and dryer out if the living room and back into our portable utility room which (we built a floor/platform so far) to connect the room to my house... (It's placed about 6 feet from my back door, on blocks.. And yeahhhh that's been fun. No washer or dryer has had me using the bathtub to soak clothes in laundry soap and wrong them out to dry like them olden days. Lol.. My husband hates it.. says they smell weird and feel weird compared to using a washer.. I dnt blame him. It's hard to wring out tons of heavy clothes. Ugh. But I do it over and over right nw. Lol.. So yes, busy busy.. 🥰 but it keeps my mind off of my hair, for now! 🥳 Hope you have a blessed week full of love and good times. Thank you again for being so kind.
@TandZAptLife Hi Z! Good to hear from you, and thank you. But I am so sorry to hear that you are losing blood and iron. My fibroids used to cause the same for me. I haven’t had any problems since menopause. I hope the doctors can quickly determine the root cause and find a remedy. Thinking of you. Saying a prayer for you. 💗🙏
Thank you for watching. Yes! I want it even lower. Almost worked myself into a state over my elevated fasting glucose, but I’m not doing that negative thinking anymore. )I’ll talk about what I’ve been doing in another video.)
@@YvettesDay glucose is tricky. Even if you are on keto, you could see sharp increases in glucose especially initially. I used to wake up with a finger stick of 140 for no reason other than something called the Dawn Phenomenon. Now I wear a continuous glucose monitor and am on Ozempic and I don't have these sharp increases unless I have just eaten something
It really is a great product. Many times when I try something new I am often not impressed or just downright disappointed, but then I try it again and it works beautifully. Such was the case with this product. Thank you for watching.
I think you are a neutral cool. What confuses people is when they have a warmer looking overtone but their undertone is cool. The beige sweater is too close to your skin tone so you lose face definition, your jawline becomes blurry whereas when you had on that blue and red scarf your jawline became very defined and even though the bright colors are attention grabbing, all the attention goes to your face. Whereas the beige sweater competes for attention. Also, I think you look better in darker colors, the light colors seem to drain you, even the cooler light colors. In my opinion you look amazing in the bright, darker cool tones. You’re hair is very bright so the brighter colors look natural on you, they enhance you and put a spotlight on your face. 🌸
Wanda!!! Thank you so much. I need to do a deeper dive into this. I believe you may be 100%. Thank you very much for your insight, thoughts, observations! All very helpful!!!! Have a wonderful day. 🩷
Love Love Love watching your videos! You hair has grown so much since your first color grow out videos! It’s gorgeous with some length. I like the idea of finding an stylist in NY who’s more educated with different hair types and styles. You deserve a cut that you love! Take care! You look amazing by the way!🌸
Hi TracyG! You are so sweet. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your support from the beginning of my RU-vid journey. Wish I could find more time to make better videos, but my commitments and work monopolize my time. Regarding the hair, the only reason I believe a stylist in a big city would be better is because a. Experience with many different hair types and b. Competition. There are many more salons in bigger cities and some want to build a rep for being the best of the best. Enjoy the rest of your week! 🌸🙏🤗☺️💯
My sister said the same thing! But (😂 there’s always a but) I often feel like I go in telling a stylist what and what not to do and when I leave with a nothing special haircut, I wonder if I had just let them do what they were going to do and trust the process, I might have gotten a haircut that looks like something. So this time I didn’t give instructions. Bad decision. Still think a hairstylist should know what not to do on low density, wispy hair. Lol. Now I know. Hope you have a great week.
I meant to ask what style cut do you have? Bob haircut, long with layers, etc.? I’m now thinking about getting a really short bob and calling it quits with the desire to have long hair.
@@YvettesDay I have a medium length (just above the shoulders) Bob haircut with layers and bangs. It is not a blunt Bob. It has soft long layers which suit me well. When I was younger and my hair much, much thicker, I could wear long hair. While I have embraced my gray hair, I'm still adjusting to having thin hair. My hair does grow fast, but that means my style grows out fast too. Why does hair have to be so challenging! :)
Hi Yvette! Long time subscriber, first time comment. Have you tried clear henna as a conditioner? also is your water hard? Clear henna is the only product I use in my hair, it gives gloss and body to my thin hair.
I tried clear henna years ago. I will look into it again. Thank you for the suggestion. You know what?! I have not considered that my water could be part of the problem. That makes a lot of sense especially because there have been times when I have traveled and was like "WOW" my hair looks great and most likely it was because of the water. I may look into a filter in addition to the henna. Thank you again. Have a good day.
@@deec.3904 Hi, for all who asked about clear henna wax, I'm still into my 1st tub of Marc Daniels Clear Henna Wax an very happy with it in all ways. Searching for it now, seeing the cost and shipping have gone up and not sure what I'll order next.
Hello my friend of almost 30 years. Now you and I both know none of your friends are gray. LOLOLOLOLOL. But, I do appreciate the support. Have a good day.
