(assuming they can afford to make a big move) They caused it, now they're losing their minds because of this huge exodus they're seeing now. Well we can't have that can we?!?!?? The shame about this place is You got to walk accross the street. The past twenty years traffic is bumbper to bumper. I use to live in Homewood and kept My boat at Homewood Hi and Dry Marina. It was great not much traffic except for the 4th of July. This was PRE-CELL PHONE days. Now Tahoe is bumper to bumper traffic.

Great memories..used to live on the corner across from Northwoods Deli/market in early 90s..walked Northwoods Blvd down to town almost everyday and back up..
Yes - there is a beautiful accredited rural hospital in Truckee (including a state-of-the-art Cancer center), and similar hospital accommodation in South Lake Tahoe. Truckee has 24-hour emergency service as well as daily drop-in Urgent Care.
Heard Lake Tahoe is now ruined, lost scores of people who could no longer afford the high rent and home prices cause of the wealthy sniffing around and buying up property.
It's not ruined, but has changed and has challenges with the influx of homeowners and visitors. The Tahoe region is beautiful and will always be! Just more people sharing it!
We live near Folsom and like the absence of snow, lower gas $, store availability, open roads, wider variety of things to plant, schools and we are only 90mins away from tahoe
This mansion has been for sale forever, possibly because it sits atop that high bank overlooking the Truckee, and one big earth quake and the bank goes with the house on it.
Truckee is like an upscale Gardnerville. I lived in Tahoe for over 20 years. Anything on California side will come with heavy taxes and regulations.. Google TRPA. I had to pay 5000.00 for every toilet I put in my house. Total fees to build were 73,000 before I ever broke ground. Don’t count on access to lake for much longer…. They are doing their best to kill boating. Only people who will like the future Tahoe will be from Berkeley.. Don’t think you have rights to your property. You can’t cut down a tree without permission. They change rules all the time. I had to do 1000’s of dollars in landscaping to prevent run off to lake… my house was 10 miles from lake. I cut down a 8 inch Fir tree that was rubbing against my house.. 1800.00 penalty from TRPA. My house was 2.5 ft too tall at one corner.. house built on hill 10,000 penalty 5 years after final inspection.. I love Tahoe but the liberals want no roads, no cars, no boats.. They are winning.
Sorry you had a bad experience. Leadership/agencies are very focused on public access to Lake Tahoe as well as its hiking and biking paths. Yes - we have pretty stringent rules in the Basin to keep our lake pristine. It's a tug between those in our community who don't want visitors and those whose businesses survive on our tourists. Traffic is an ongoing issue, especially in mid summer and ski weekends. Frankly, any pretty resort area in our Country is challenged with growth issues. No question - a conundrum: If an community doesn't grown, it dies. The challenge is to keep growth in a sustainable direction....for the land as well as its people.

Tahoe real estate is in a huge bubble that's going to crack and prices will crash! Remember Tahoe is a secondary vacation market and just today another 3/4 rate hike!
We doubt that prices will crash! We'll see more stability in the market; historically, prices rise over time. The market is adjusting all over, and we will continue to be a desirable place to live and vacation.
How horrible. those houses are so close you can put your hand out your window and put it into the neighbors house. Sad that anyone can mention this development and nature in the same video lol. Horrible
The homes are close, but there nature is right out the door! Skiing is within 15 - 20 minutes, whereas driving from the Bay Area to ski is at least 3 hours! Donner Lake is 5 minutes away! So be snuggy/cozy at home, then step outside for a nice hike!
@@Stayfocused1984 If everyone wanted to live in the same house, it would get pretty crowded! To each his own! Tahoe has plenty of single family homes, but some want the convenience of low maintenance in a planned development or condominium.
Great summary, interesting to see all the new projects happening on the north shore, and I can't wait to see what Larry Ellison does with the Cal Neva. Last I heard it was going to be a Nobu Resort, which would be an incredible addition to Crystal Bay.
With skiing over except for Palisades, this will be good info for next season....as well as a reminder to get your season pass while prices are lowest!
