I love how Nate Smith weaves in and out of different groves, sounds, and seems to change time signature, yet keeping the backbeat groove going. Being a drummer this way of playing is not easy. Nate feels and hears the music in non traditional way that sounds awesome.
There is another live version on RU-vid where the keyboardist changes to the wrong part. Maybe Nate knows his guys need the extra heads up. The tune does switch between those parts a lot in the first half of the tune. I'm not mad at any of them-Great stuff!
