I don't upgrade my iphone until my current one brakes. Which usually means I skip many generations. (these phones are durable if you treat them well) Loving my 14pro, I use a Sigma FPL for my photography.
Sticking with my Galaxy S23 with the periscope lens that the Galaxy S24 does not have. :) Apple deciding to do a camera downgrade like Samsung while calling it an upgrade? LOOKS like!
4:43 why are you comparing the 12mpx on the iphone 15 with the 48mpx on the iphone 16? I'm not sure what's this supposed to illustrate. Wouldn't a comparison of the 48mpx on the iphone 15 vs iphone 16 be more fair? or a comparison of the 12mpx vs 48mpx on the iphone 16 only.
He's comparing the ultra wide cameras not the main cameras. The ultra wide on the 15Pro has 12MP while the ultra wide on the 16pro has 12 or 48 if you shoot in raw
I’m so tired of sensationalized headlines. Despite the low light map shot, all of the 16 shots looked better. Is it night and day better? No. But it’s not worse overall by any means. Is the camera control a gimmick? No. I’m using it for to swap lenses, not for zoom, and it’s awesome.
Tony, I like your stuff and even use android, but your comparison of the ultra-wide is done in low-light which is a weak point. The ultra-wide camera shines mainly in good lighting conditions compared to the previous generation.
Hi Tony, I have been following your RU-vid channel for a years and learned a lot. Love Stunning Digital Photography book. I was hoping you can guide me on the below question. My D750 is giving me multi-fold sharper pictures on 50mm 1.8 and 24-120 1.4 lenses compared to Z8 with the same lenses. Thoughts on what I could be doing wrong? Disclaimer: Even though I have my D750 for years, I am still a beginner.
this channel turned out to be a complete rage bait channel to farm views for money and this thumbnail and title and everything just proved it so much more, im sorry man
Seem to be saying more positive things overall. Hopefully the worst issue (ultra wide) at low light can be fixed in software. I have no issues with the camera button, though do feel the acceleration curve (like you can do with a mouse in Windows) should be changed, or user-configurable. I like the less processing overall, and better overall detail. Been shooting with both phones since the 16 pro launch. Having done a couple iPhone interviews, I appreciate the mic upgrades greatly too!
Been using DXO labs since version 3 and have been very happy with it. It is great for doing batch processing. Especially sports photos and fixing noise. As Tony said they have for years been the best at noise reduction. At about version 5 however I needed to up the power of the PC as the noise reduction is a highly CPU-intensive operation. Been on version 6 for a couple years and been trying out version 8 and will be purchasing the upgrade soon. Local adjustments are very powerful so watch some videos on how to do that.
I ordered the 16 pro max and cancelled it after seeing your first video. It’s such a shame they can’t give you a decent macro photo or even a decent landscape photo. I’ve been with Apple since the first iPhone but I’m seriously thinking about going over to Samsung.
Same history of most of the people here. We start with Adobe and trust in the promise of the subscription model to have more agile updates and fair payment for that. instead we get outdated software lack of innovation and "new" things that not is exactly what we need or ask for. Also this AI hype crossed all the limits. Some of us CAN'T use AI assisted tools. For photo contests and journalistic photos it is FORBIDDEN in most of places and we don't have a way to just turn it off! I'm not even talking about opting-out the AI collection (that also should be possible) but USAGE of AI tools inside of the apps. It is SO crazy that so many basic tools are missing or very outdated. LR classic has the same interface since forever and even today it can't full support 2 monitors.
2 things. 1. I missed the part about proving the 16 pro to be worse then 15 pro camera. Simply not being a massive upgrade does not make it a downgrade. Also this may be a non point but software might fix some processing in time fixing some of the errors especially with the new sensor and features. A bug today, might get fixed. 2. When people say not to upgrade, they forget that a lot of people are coming from older iPhones. Take myself for example, I am currently using iPhone 12. That is literally the only reason I am looking into this, because i need a new phone anyway. As a professional video editor I am also looking for a phone with a good camera (for video) and considering the price difference the 16 pro looks more worth it to me then a resell 15 pro. However, if I already had the 15 pro then no I would not upgrade. Important clarification.
Steve Jobs is long dead and the iPhone 16 is the biggest piece of spyware from Apple that they've come out with. Apple is only interested on spying on everything you do in your life. They have become worse than Google.
Folks balk at the comparison of an iPhone to a real camera. Ok how about comparing the iPhone to a Canon t7 rebel with a kit lens, which can be bought for less than half the price of the iPhone 16 max? ❤ do it, do it, do it.
I have Adobe Photoshop CS4, 5, and 6 on an older system, and a recent version that I paid 30 bucks for that I use while disconnected to the internet. I'll see if I can duplicate some of the med range work you did on that bird using a screen grab.
Would you buy a car every year just because its new, even if it still takes you from point A to B like your old one already does? No If you have the 15 just wait for the 17 or 18 even. Probably it won't be worth it to upgrade but by then you have to get a new battery or upgrade anyway.
Tony, thank you so much. I’ve been trying to get started with Lightroom for years but can’t get by setting up the libraries. I have ADD. So complexity is my enemy. Based on your RU-vid I downloaded the trial software and in 25 minutes I was up and running this is great. You and Chelsie are my go to RU-vidrs for photography
Greeeeeat video! You're the one to stand still, when all the other are on bended knees. Great job... I'm curious to know if this problem is just related to iphones, or otherwise to all smartphone photography (as I guess). You could record this video with other top-notch camera smartphone, to say: vivo x100 pro, huawei P70, oppo find x7 pro, honor magic 6 pro...
Apple is using the same main sensor since the Iphone 14 pro (imx803), which was already too small at the time, remembering the 1 inch imx989 released by Xiaomi was available since Iphone 13 pro. That said the imx903 a bit bigger than the 803 was supposed to come to the iphone 15 pro....we are on the 16 now and still using the 803 lol. 3 years changing a bit shadows and sharppening in the software and letting reviewers look for the "differences"
currently I'm using a Xiaomi 13T Pro and TBH the main sensor is pretty muth the same but in zoom and ultrawide the iphone destroys my phone, i am going to buy an iphone 15 pro max but the 16 pro max isn't that huge of a change for me to make the jump when i can buy the 15 pro max brand new for 150 dollars less than the 16 pro max and 300 dollars less if i buy a used one in my country.
All these iPhone releases are just like the mirrorless camera market and nothing but a bunch of hype and BS! I’m still using that iPhone 13 Pro that does everything I need on a daily basis and have zero desire to upgrade to one of these overpriced iPhone 16. Judging by the slow sales, I think most people feel the same anymore.
Sadly, the thing keeping me in Lightroom is my tourbox lol. I’ve got it setup and streamlined to where I barely touch my keyboard. The issue with a lot of newer software is they don’t have hotkeys / things that can be mapped.
