Can we really say of Hagar that she didnt have any “fault” in the situation? Was the contempt that she showed Sarah as mentioned in Genesis 16 just in the imagination of a jealous Sarah? I also note that we do not hear of the servants of rachel and leah when they were given to jacob as treating their mistreas with contempt.

Thank you Andrea for a well thought through and powerfully presented message. Thank you for giving a voice to a figure that deserve greater respect and particularly doing so as a woman speaking about a woman whose story is written in a very patriarchal context.

Was Tamar a canaanite.? The bible doesn't say that. Tamar knew she had to keep the bloodline pure. Judah had sons outside his lineage that is why Tamar did what she did. Why would she do it .?

If Eve and Adam are equal than why is the man the head of house? They’re not equal. God made man stronger and she was created the be his helper! I think that’s why divorce! Please refer to Paul’s message on marriage and the role of husbands and wives in Corinthians.

It's a shame eve is actually Lilith because she rejected Adam 3 times in a row as her husband and the way god works is if you denounce someone as you wife/husband 3 times in a row like that the bond is broken which she did and she won't get a new man but Adam will get a new wife and then Lilith will shortly after have to leave heaven because Adam new wife won't want her constantly hitting on her husband that she already rejected because she wants the title and power as queen which won't happen for her that Adam wife gift not his ex

What was Eve suppose to do?
@psalm1tree466
@psalm1tree466 2 года назад
People assume that Bathsheba was on a roof while taking her bath. Of course everyone knew the King’s whereabouts and no doubt that he sometimes walked along the roof looking over the city. One way or another, if she allowed herself to be visible to him while she was bathing, obviously it was a turn on to him. How could she not know that would be true? I think she was signaling that she wanted David to call for her so that she could eventually be queen.

Bathsheba was not innocent. She was not a victim as you depict her to be. She knew the standards of God, yet she chose to commit adultery with the king in stead of keeping God’s commands. Perhaps David would have come to his senses if she would have turned him down. David was held to a higher standard as a man and the king. However, she suffered because of HER sin. David suffered because of HIS. At the end of the day, God still gave them both grace by not treating their sin as deserved.
@tonyaneal
@tonyaneal 3 года назад
Scripture is clear. God called David out for his sin. Why then would David repent? Typical victim blaming. She was where she was supposed to be. Can’t say that about David. Really? In that patriarchal society, she could say no? Scripture says he sent messengers to “TAKE HER”. FORCED. Reading is fundamental. Read the text.

@@tonyaneal She was bathing on a rooftop in front of David. How seductive is that? Surely she could’ve had some kind of portable walls or barriers around her to act modestly. I think David saw her actions as an invitation which he took up on. I think she wanted to be queen and she knew exactly what she was doing.
@tonyaneal
@tonyaneal 2 года назад
@@psalm1tree466 Lol sounds like you think she lived during this time. Portable walls, really? Perhaps David should have been at war. Read your Bible then we can discuss the story :).
@psalm1tree466

@@tonyaneal I am exceedingly familiar with the Bible. For example I know that the woman was a granddaughter of an advisor to King David. No doubt he had seen her many times in her life. But there was only one time when he lusted after her. Not in any banquets, not in any visits with her family, not walking along the street, but while she was bathing in full view of his eyes. Any modest woman would’ve known how to conceal herself from prying eyes when bathing. Any people at that time would’ve been very familiar with the The habits and whereabouts of their king in general. If you want to think that she was an innocent baby, that’s your concern not mine. I don’t buy it for a second and I have nothing more to say on the issue. Bye!
@tonyaneal
@tonyaneal 2 года назад
@@psalm1tree466 Perhaps. But I try to stick to what is written. It was written that David was on the rooftop and not Bathsheba. It is written that David was supposed to be at war. It is also written that David inquired about her. He was told who she was and still sent the men to get her. The punishment was directly for David and not Bathsheba, spoken to David by the prophet Nathan. It is written that God was angry with David because he killed Uriah and married his wife, that is why the sword fell on David's family as it did. That it's why Tamar, David's daughter was raped by her half-brother, that is why Amon his son was killed by his brother Absalom, that is why Absalom tried to kill his father David, that is why Solomon who loved women as much as his dad and other son's died in the manner that he did...all of this is written. Those are the facts of the text. Sure we can read into it and provide our personal perspective, but the Word is the Word. Some things are silent in the text for a reason and we have to go with that. Many things that are silent are those about the emotions of women who were just not treated with respect. They were given away and traded like commodities and property. That is the society in which they lived. However, Jesus came on the scene and validated women - allowing them to be the first to carry the GOOD NEWS! The beautiful part of it all is that God forgave David as he does us all. I do also know that her grandfather, father, and husband worked for David, but again DAVID still inquired about her (asked who she was) and was told who she was, and proceeded to have her taken from her home. But I guess it's her fault for cleansing herself in her home as he watched from his rooftop. Just as it's the woman's fault whose dress is too short who got raped, or who drank too much who got raped. Maybe it is a child's fault who is abused by a pedophile because they were entising. It's the woman's fault who is physically abused in any manner because SHE did something that is viewed as wrong to that man. It is the woman's fault for making a man with 7 wives want her. Cool. I respect how you see view the text but again, I will defer to the facts of the text and leave it there.

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lAmuEnePHHo.html&feature=share I am passing this song to you in one of the many versions. The song was written 50 years ago by Leonard Cohen, a Jewish man. The original was 15 pages long & took Cohen 5 years to write due to the complex story of King David & Bathsheba. There was no interest in the song for publication & was only to be found in a watered down version on side 2 of a Cohens’s record album (played only on plastic with needle). Over the years the song was picked up by secular & religious artist who would alter lyrics to suit the occasion. This is a short beautiful version that has appealed to the masses. If you search you can find a wedding version, funeral version and others versions that still today after 50 years & the writers death is still a beloved song. Even in the sin of King David our Lord has given us a song of beauty to love today. May God richly bless you in your teaching of WOMEN of the Bible. I am a Christian-of 50 years & know a Blessed GOD GIVEN TEACHER & your are exactly that teacher. May God richly Bless you. Many thanks from Atlanta GA.

Another brilliant teaching in this series...( I didn't follow the order strictly) ...Thank You Lord that you are the Source of ALL I need...In You alone I do have everything I need for life and Godliness, and no good thing do You withhold from me... Like Eve I am so prone to go astray... Please forgive my lack of trust in Your wisdom and the times I am tempted to abdicate my responsibility for my sinful ways and disobedience.... Grant me good and GODLY desires and help me to remain faithful to You.

How wonderful that God interacts with us at every stage of our lives.... That He knows us intimately and meets us at the point of our need... May we run with perseverance the race set before is, knowing that He who began a good work in us is able to keep us until the day He comes to fetch us home...Praying that I will experience a fresh revelation of God's love as I work through this series, and that it's truths will indeed sink deep down into my spirit and permeate my heart and life.

"The God who exposes the thirst we don't even know we have....Who sees straight to our deepest and most desperate needs with every intent of HEALING AND PROVIDING for each one them"... All honour, thanks and praise be to His glorious name... I love the biblical history pertaining to Photine and her five sisters... May we desire the same zeal and fervor to tell of the saving grace and the unconditional transforming love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
