If you love music and would like to come on an journey of eclectic musical discovery then hit subscribe and come on board! Music is a universal language that binds us all. To me, that makes it one of, if not the greatest, most beautiful, most unifying thing we have.
Just a bit about my musical background. I studied vocals and music production and have been singing my whole life. I also play guitar and piano. Music is everything to me.
Actually, they suck. I performed with them many times..they have numbers, that’s it. Their insane cult of Mormons thinks they’re great, but technically they’re terrible. They rehearse a billion hours for all their stuff, usually with an incompetent but high up in the church conductor..yuck..their hubris and arrogance totally fits their vapid adherence to a cult..
Every Sunday at 9:30 am MST you can watch the Tabernacle Choir perform live on RU-vid. Audiences can also stream Music & the Spoken Word each week from anywhere in the world from RU-vid."
From Google "Parallels have been drawn between Vaughan's voice and those of opera singers. Jazz singer Betty Carter said that with training Vaughan could have "gone as far as Leontyne Price."[21] Bob James, Vaughan's musical director in the 1960s said that "the instrument was there. But the knowledge, the legitimacy of that whole world were not for her ... But if the aria were in Sarah's range she could bring something to it that a classically trained singer could not."[22]"
Religion has nothing to do with whether they sound good or not, the Call to Prayer, Gregorian Chats or Hebrew Psalms, can all sound amazing, no matter my personal beliefs. And a belief in some form of Deity is better than having nothing to set moral boundaries.
Hmm even though I beleive in god I don't think it's at all necessary for setting moral boundaries. I was a good and moral person way before I believed in God
I have gone to Music and The Spoken Word for Easter and it was amazing. They always do the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah and it makes me sob. So powerful! Being there is much more impactful. It is like the music goes right through you!
I live in Salt Lake City and this made me realize how much I have not taken advantage of this by being so close to seeing this in person more often. They have organ recitals everyday in the tabernacle and I have been twice now. So good! This touched my cold dead heart so I am grateful for this!
The incomparable and magnificent Sarah Vaughn, whose prowess as a Jazz vocalist, like fine wine, just got better as she aged. No one truly can touch her, not even the great Ella Fitzgerald.
We are all poor warfarin’ strangers…we are all in this striving together on this earth….we can help each other!! Thank you choir for helping to lift our souls!! Let us be with reality, and build our lives upon Christ and his Word, in our journey on this earth…for joy and peace!! May we enjoy the simple things of the gospel and this world every day!!
(Texas girl 🙋🏽♀️) As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I grew up listening to this choir. I have to be honest; I have never appreciated it as much as I have the past few weeks. Watching your reactions has brought tears to my eyes as I have watched you listening to them for the first time. I have taken for granted the beauty that has come from this choir. Thank you for allowing me to see them through your eyes. Keep doing what you are doing, my friend.
This song performed by them, to me, is one of the most celestial and divine pieces of music on this earth! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fhwfLWZI2aU.htmlsi=irMJMwslNcwZhd3g
To be honest, thinking about The Tabernacle Choir having juicy harmonies made me giggle. You are absolutely correct sir, but I am not sure they have ever been called juicy as a collective group 😂
Love your posts! Celebrating goodness and light! ❤️☀️ Love to hear your reaction to the Tabernacle Choir singing The Spirit of God Like A Fire is Burning!❤️🔥☀️
Charlie - Thank you so much for sharing this. What a beautiful example of the power of music and God's love. It was truly moving to see your reaction to the professionals and to the message. I needed this lift today. Thanks again.
Listen to the version of The Spirit of God from April 4, 2011 with the new organ, and you will understand better why everyone invites you to the General Conference. Greetings from Uruguay, South America
Build your foundation on Christ, for if you do, no matter what the devil shall send your way, you cannot fall. Read daily the Word of God, and pray…repent and thank God for your many blessings, including Christ who saves us from sin and anguish. See Helaman 5:12.
Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr. among other interpretive giants were household favorites during my childhood. So glad my parents had the excellent taste they did
May I suggest you give a listen to Eva Cassidy. An absolutely spectacular interpretive artist. I believe you'll be blown away. Her authenticity, her emotional depth, the 'simplicity' of her delivery is absolutely startling. Eva's no longer with us, an untimely passing at the age of 33.
God’s armies are for truth, for peace and the salvation and happiness of man….we stand for Christ, and with him, are against the unseen evils that can disrupt our lives and plague our society. We are all here to learn to feel the difference between the bitter from the sweet, and we want to help Christ in his mission to save us from sin, and protect ourselves and our young and adult brothers and sisters on this earth to help Christ rescue them from harm. All have choices, and we must be as the armies of Helaman, and show others about Christ, the light and life of the earth!! We must fight for them and within for our eternal happiness and welfare….that is God’s purpose, our progression and happiness. And too, all that God asks is that we bring a broken heart and contrite spirit and to become as a little children. They are teachable.
It's a blessing to have one's heart open and respond in depth with tears. This version of the song is stellar. Thank you. And to Sarah Vaughan, you were, are, a song goddess! I just downloaded the song to my playlist. Great reaction!
Maybe you've done this already (I'm new to your channel) but its worth a listen ... Nearer, My God, to Thee by BYU Vocal Point. Even if you don't review it the 3 minute mark is incredible.
Nothing in the entire universe compares with this choir, combined with the heavenly orchestra and Wilberg's inspired arrangements. Nothing even comes close.
2:34 The reverb in that part actually comes from a sound file "brass reverb" in one of the synths! It matches up extremely well in timing with the shot of the horns which its why its so hard to differentiate. But it makes this part a lot more audible.
