I love this piece, but the note at the top of the walkup always felt like a mistake the piano player made when I first heard it. I have trouble with strange and dissonant notes, but i LOVE this! You piled even more strange and dissonant harmonies on and is so much better even than Satie’s! I use as an alarm on my phone and enjoy it so much I just jam out and forget what I set the alarm for. As much as I like the live one, the album one is the best. ♥
If this music were laid over something tragic it would distract from the tragedy and inject acceptance. If this music were laid over something beautiful, it would distract from the beauty and inject the cynical knowledge that it will never last forever.
I have no words that can explain how this moves my soul. It puts me in a vulnerable place where I can cry. And I really need to get that out sometimes. This helps me do it gently, without shame or guilt. I don't think people understand what a heavenly moment you two created here. It's like G-d offers me an embrace when I listen. Thank you for helping me. I really mean it.
I appreciate it, but I'm not a fan. The whole point of Satie's pieces is to do more with less, the efficiency, the space between the notes. This version overcomplicates it to the point that it loses Satie's magic.
