Great compilation video. FYI, "Specialization is for insects," is a quote from Robert Heinlein's character Lazarus Long in the novel Time Enough for Love and The Notebooks of Lazarus Long. The Notebooks are a collection of Long's aphorisms from Heinlein's novel and I do recommend reading both.
3:20 Capitalism always provides equal opportunity. If it's not doing so, its not capitalism. Central bank managed socialism is very far from capitalism.
I initially felt what you did as well, because I believe in God & there is no way this incredible existence manifested itself. However, when I re watched and thought about it, he’s not saying that. He’s saying there is no ONE set way to live life. God expects us to be good, and we can achieve that by worshipping and not hurting others, but then what do you do with the rest of your time ? Your interests, your passions, what you find incredible and what you don’t, etc. there is no one set way to live life, we get to make up how we spend our time here. Because not 8 billion of us are spending life exacrly the same way. And he’s right. We all have free will and that’s what makes everyone interesting - everyone spends their time in a totally unique way.
Bertrand Russell - "The point of philosophy is to start with something so simple as not to seem worth stating, and to end with something so paradoxical that no one will believe it."
The moments selected for this video truly capture the essence of Bertrand Russell's genius. From his thoughts on religion and morality to his views on politics and society, each moment is thought-provoking and enlightening. I'm grateful to have discovered this video and look forward to exploring more of Russell's work
His logic is wrong about if there was 1 answer to meaning of life we would be trapped is wrong because that's like saying 3+3= can actually be 7 or etc or you say its wrong for me to kill your mother I say its a good thing, etc without absolutes you cannot have order or meaning. You ask me to give you mo ey and I take it instead but after ask why did that I say I gave you it because your meaning for give is my meaning for take...how can the product of non absolutes be absolute things. A meaningful life come from an origin that has none?
You don't get it, he just said that "there is no absolute 1 single way path to find the meaning of life " means for someone may be physical different richness was his meaning of life , for someone it may be mentally happy life , for someone it may be living through the "religion wise " perfect life ...like depending on people, people can find /define their own meaning of life's purpose
