I’m a US Marine vet in Ukraine. 2nd volunteer combat tour here. Shot 5 times on July 4th and awaiting my 4th surgery. This song,…. It just touches me darlin’. Keep doing what you’re doing. KeepMovingForward 🤙 callsign Tex
Haunting lyrics. I never do this because I'm not musically inclined, but I typed them since I couldn't find them anywhere to read: _______ Ten O'Clock on a Friday night, an old man looks about 79, has a lot of pain a' weighing on his heart, so he stops a younger man on the way to his car: So how's it going? How you doing there son? I like your truck, looks like it runs. Bet you had to work a lot of late nights for that one. How much it costs - if you don't mind my asking? Cause I know you and I was just the same. I was wasting my life for that payday. But at 75, I lost my wife as Jesus took her to heaven. And some of the last words she left with me was: "I wish we could have spent more time together 'cause you were always out on the road trying to bring me home all the silver and gold. When all I wanted was to hold the hands of my sweet lovin' man. So I'm going to leave you with one more thing. I don't mean to make you feel guilty in any way. But curse that blue collar. Cause you were always chasin' a dollar." Now I know a man's gotta work. What good is he if he don't work? But just remember that there's a fine line. And if he crosses it, then he just might find that he hurt his wife and he hurt his family. Addiction comes not just in gambling, but working all those overtime hours. Get off early and bring her some flowers. 'Cause at 75, I lost my wife as Jesus took her to heaven. Cause you were always chasin' a dollar." _________ The only thing I wish were different is the title. I like "But Curse that Blue Collar" a little better than "Chasin' a Dollar."
Simply beautiful. I write some stuff. It's nowhere near as moving as yours but check it out. Your music has an ethereal soul, its just.. wow wow wow tbh
Sitting in our dim kitchen. A hurricane just went through. South Carolina has no power. We just opened our first beers to enjoy. 3 days of no power. 3 days of cold showers. 3 days of making dinners on a camping stove. This song in the background of our conversation. This is how we fell in love…. “Blood moon way up in the sky”, it was as Josiah and the Bonnevilles back then. Today it’s this song. Reuniting us over such simple pleasures when there’s no worldly distractions. Thank you for making music.
A couple of pretty flowers Is what I brought I to you I saw you through a broken window With a different point of view You had signs of depression From a long line of sin And your face tells a story 'Bout the places you have been I love you so I thought you should know And that muddy waters flowin' As you take my hand Past the creek down by the holler Through your daddy's land I could buy you a diamond But I cannot change your world 'Cause I ain't got no money You'll never be my girl no no I thought you should know You was gonna be a singer Or be a movie star But you can't catch no breaks baby And Hollywood is hard Now you work down at the Time Out Off 155 And you're dancing for your dollar Just tryin' to stay alive It hurts me so I thought you should know You feed your addiction With your crystal meth And I plea for your life As it takes you to your death You make your deal with the devil As your looks begin to fade I saw you laughin' through the tears As you slowly slipped away I watched you go I thought you should know Yeah I watched you go I thought you should know That cold rain is pourin' As they lay you in a grave I can barely recognize you In your fragile state No more signs of depression From a long time ago I throw in a pretty flower As they slowly laid you low, it was a rose I thought you should know Yeah it was a rose I thought you should know A couple of pretty flowers is what I brought to you I saw you through a broken window With a different point of view
i just wanna say, I've been watching a lot of crap on RU-vid with the current state of the world. Music is so powerful because for a second I can imagine a perfect world of people living happily by the countryside. By the way you are gorgeous and have an incredible voice and I'm sure you will make it to many people with your music.
I have listened to this so many times. Amazing work. To everyone out there in suffering silence I’m here for you and things will get better. Never quit please the world is a better place with you in it.
