Do not know the name of this youtube host. But he comes across as a very congenial and measured Singapore-apologist. Actually, there really is no need to apologise nor is an apology due to such tourists who want to wine, dine and live it up in style then complain how expensive things are in SGP, or that they found SGP to be boring, too urbanised or Westernised etc. Such tourist-bloggers ought to do their homework before they come, for goodness sake! Singapore is an open book, and an open country. Whatever info these tourists need to know about SGP is available on the internet freely. We are proud of SGP and what we have to offer. We welcome all and sundry who wish to come to visit and enjoy what we have to offer everyone whether they come on a limited budget, or have deep wallets. Cut your coat according to your cloth!!
why in the world would you book such an expensive hotel up to $1k unless you WANT to. she definitely wanted a comfortable luxury experience so why is she complaining….
For the first lady and likewise for other travellers that do the same, its my own humble opinion that you're kind of missing the point of traveling. Sure, give yourself a day or two where you indulge in the best of the best the country can offer, but its a severe misrepresentation of what the country actually is What's the point of traveling so far just to have some expensive calamari, I wouldn't go to US and hole up in Chinatown
Her hotel room is not room but suite of course cant be cheap lol.. room doesnt have living room, pantry etc. $1200 for a suite in 5 stars htl is consider not expensive. But why must she stay in a suite if she cant afford it
Actually even 4 stars htl can be from just S$ 200 depending on season & location or even a bit lower when there is promotion during low season. And you dont need expensive big room or even a suite if not traveling with family, you are going to be out the whole day sight seeing anyway. Unless you are loaded of course. Otherwise just pick any budget htl from $100 & up.. 😂
An "influencer" who do not research. Who come to Singapore for natural resource ?? Obviously she has no knowledge of the place she is visiting. If she can't afford luxury travel, plan well as there are options to choose. If tourist from third world country can afford to travel to Singapore then why was she miserable lol... before traveling, know what you want to see & experience hence u know what to expect.. every country have different attraction and not everybody have the same expectation.. she shouldnt be sour after spending $ she cant afford due to lack of planing/knowledge lol..
Singapore is a city state, what nature they expect to see in a city ? Volcano, water fall ? 😂 villages, tribes ? People visit Singapore for different experience.
agreed, i think if she had actually looked up what's the good stuff in SG she would definitely find out what to expect - and if it isnt something she likes she should change plans
if i understand correctly, the govt wants to avoid short-term rental competing against housing cost of locals. In places where AirBnB is allowed, landlords tend to prefer catering for short-term rentals that they can charge more $ per night compared to long term renters (locals). It also encourages landlords to buy up properties to be made into rentals, further competing with people who actually needs a place to live. All in all, is to avoid making housing situation worse for us locals
it's always the uncultured white folks complaining that singapore has not enough nature/culture or is too "man-made". I'd say for a "man-made" country, we've got a lot more greenery than some "natural" cities. Also, instead of "man-made", the label "self-made" would be more appropriate, considering how we had to fend for ourselves after our useless colonisers weren't able to protect us, and also taking into account the bittersweet falling out with our neighbour.
She's been to 33 countries yet she managed to complain about the price at Marina Bay Sands LMAO, those 33 countries must have felt like hell. I just got back from Singapore and it was fantastic. I really want to visit Singapore again to explore more of it! Also thanks for the tips, I rode the transportation like a local! <3
Thanks for the clarification. 🤟👍 All in all, they seemed to be some STUPID TRAVELERS! 🤣🤣 I wonder where she’s from?? Mars?? 😂 One can even backpack in Singapore! 😂 I’m not saying SIN is cheap… But as a traveler, one can plan and manage. Like our Grab (like Uber) is not the cheapest in the world, but it’s also not the most expensive. 😊 And seriously, if you wanna compare high-end luxury travel… SIN will be no match for Dubai!
Thanks for the amazing content. Loved it. We are 2 adults n 2 kids, planning to cover bird paradise and night safari.. What would be your suggested route and timings, if we want to cover bird paradise after lunch... so that after that we can do night safari.
As a Singaporean I want to say Singapore is overrated overhyped, honestly I won’t even suggest my friends to visit as the price of hotel for few nights could do a Japan trip! So skip Singapore is a boring city!
hahah I understand you have your preferences and recommendations :) However for people who did not grow up in Singapore, there might be things that they find interesting here that they could not find in Japan ^^ It depends what you're looking for
Way to expose the stupidity of not looking at the hotel price before booking LOL. Also even within MBS there are cheaper options than those overpriced restaurants, even if they are overpriced themselves too.
Hong Kongs a far better visit than Singapore. IMO. Some of Singapores laws and beliefs are Strange-- change them... Hong Kong people don't 'look down their noses' at you either...
Thank you for your factual clarifications. I strongly recommend the tourists, especially budget travelers to view this video before visiting Singapore. Correct perspective of expectations for luxury stays in Singapore got to be correct and fair.
3:48 it’s the way she added tf, like… you want luxury you pay the price! What’s wrong with locals recommending cheaper alternatives? No need to be so snobby about it
MBS is an attraction spot in Singapore. That is why most visitors flock in that area. Naturally, they will stay in MBS or hotels that are close in proximity if they are there for gambling. Hence, why these tourists usually find Singapore to be expensive because the price are adjusted for tourism and the Singapore dollar is strong against the USD and Euro which does not help either. For the price that visitors are paying in Singapore, they can live like a King in other Southeast Asian country.
It's definitely click-bait videos. As many Singaporeans commented, you can find cheaper food, transport and accommodations. MBS is not the only hotel and Newton isn't the only hawker centre. And if you dont like to travel to cities, please dont.
@@dashingheights I dun fancy the Malaysian BKT. It is not a broth, it is tau kee gravy. Too oily and gross to drink it like a broth. SG version is way better, I always ask for refill twice.
Singapore does have unique history and culture, but a lot of it is related to colonialism which has become taboo so most foreigners chose to ignore it because it either makes them feel bad for being white... or for being treated badly by white people. Singapore is one of the few countries that has untoppled statues of it's european coloniser and are even putting up even more of them. IT has all kinds of stuff named after raffles (like rafflesia which i recommed seeing), and the national mueseum sometimes has exhibitions and events like "artist and empire" which most other countries would never have. It has old forts and guns that were used by soldiers from all over the british empire and who fought shoulder to shoulder alongside britishmen themselves. Also i disagree that singapore was never meant to be a country. David saul marshal won the first election by campaigning for complete independence, and the PAP was only able to win after marshal's replacement was unpopular. After PAP won, a lot of the people in labour, including marshal himself, went to work for PAP.
I feel that for SG, our history of colonialism wasn't one of tyranny and mismanagement so it was quite easy to regard it as a phase of development of our nationhood. The biggest sore-feeling would probably be when the Brits horribly failed to defend Singapore - and barely putting up a fight. So we don't really have much animosity that would be reasons to topple statues or rename streets. What I meant when saying SG was never meant to be, is how IMPOSSIBLE the odds were at the time. So it was more of a reverence to the miraculous journey we had ^^
@@dashingheights it's more than just not viewing the british negatively, it's to the point where we're proud of having been their colony. That's why we continue to name and design stuff after them even after independence and even celebrate our colonial history. Just a few months ago we put up yet another status of raffles in our national park and had british representatives present at it's opening ceremony. You're not going to find something like that anywhere else in the world, not even in Britain where they're tearing down their owns statues of their colonisers. Countries like australia and Canada still keep certain traditions but they aren't creating new ones. Sadly, this part of singapore history and culture is being completely ignored even though our colonial history and how we view it plays a very big part in how we were able to prosper.
Wow... I don't get why she made that video. I paid around 900 euros for my flights France to SG. I paid around 900 euros for 10 nights at my hotel in Outram Park. I had a small room, a bathroom but no kitchen, will take a better room next time. I did not pay a lot for the subway, it was honestly cheap. Many activities such as parks or walking in the streets are free. And I never paid 80 dollars for a meal... So weird to post that ! By the way, I think that London is more expensive than SG. I booked a two days trip with a friend and it's crazy expensive !!! EDIT : SG has museums ! Peranakan museum, National Museum of SG. Those places are culture places. Not as South Korea or Japan, yes, but still ! I'm very shocked people saying there's nothing to see in SG.
Outram park is a good location ^^ Exactly! My bad i didnt put any comparison in the video. you can cross from extreme end of the country by subway for ~$2.50 From my experience, London lacks any affordable options... or I'm too foreign to know the good spots hahah
The first girl has got to be the dumbest broad around. Gees!! Humble braggart. All that to rile up people so they would react and up her viewership and reactions. Do not react to her at her blog.
Menurut saya sih Jiji yang paling enak buat harganya. Iya porsinya dikit, kalo mau lebih bisa beli porsi yang besar. Tapi lebih enak coba makanan lain ^^
Hold on! Alot of good chefs come from Malaysia?! I dont know about that. But I do know that many Malaysia's famour food stall owners and cook were apprentices, learnt how to cook in Singapore restaurants. How is Malaysia food better when Singapore buy all the freshest, top quality ingredients from Malaysia and other parts of the countries? If u r the farmers, will u sell your stocks at lower cost or sold the most freshest to highest cost? Malaysia's KL hotel are selling soup using chicken stock instead of real chicken for broth.
It's my casual observation of FnB cooks who are often Malaysian working in Singapore ^^ I feel that SG & MY each have strong points. There are some dishes that I prefer to eat in Malaysia, similarly some I prefer in SG.
I am right now watching your video from Singapore. It’s a great country. Every thing seems to be so nice, so clean. I am flying back tomorrow 😢. I wish to come back again soon.
I have just finished editing a video to answer this exact question, coming up this Friday ^^ For a quick answer, it's a food-center where you can find rows of food stalls and common seating area. Lots of local food option at affordable prices :)
Decent video, but your suggestions are a little bit too cheapskate. She doesn't have to take $90 transport but she doesn't have to take public transport either. Likewise, she doesn't need to eat hawker centre food just because she ate at some high class restaurant.
hahahah I usually recommend value over comfort. Indeed my bad I could have shown the cost for comfort that's more value than her $90. A normal-taxi ride from airport to town usually cost around $25 Normal restaurants would cost around $15 per pax. At more posh location would be $25 per pax. I hope this clarifies :)
that's great! Now that you mention it, I remember there's always ramps around public area. I know right... now near Nov-Dec it's not as hot- BUT it rains almost daily hahah
