Im so confused at what island is this supposed to be?
@Ynhile93
@Ynhile93 7 месяцев назад
it's just island style dance (Pacifica/ Polynesia mix); since I dance to the original choreography in the music video of the artist (just add some little moves I learn from Samoa siva though)

Yeah... no... that's cultural appropriation. If you separate each island into different verses and chorus, that would be more appropriate. Mixing all of them is just a big fat no. There's meaning behind each movement in each individual island.

@@miraclemeaole428 thanks, I do actually dance to the meaning of each move as I learnt😊 but next time will be well reminded of that

@@Ynhile93 You're still missing the point. You cannot mix dances because they are NOT a style of dance but a part of a culture. What you're doing is cultural appropriation. You can mix ballet and hip hop or swing and ballroom together because they're a style of dance. Siva Samoa, Hula, and Haka are NOT. This is very disrespectful to my ancestors and my culture, no matter how YOU feel

@@miraclemeaole428 Chill the hell out. If you really felt that this creator posted this video with ill intent towards any polynesian culture- you’re grasping at straws. Hostile people like you are the reason why so many foreigners are discouraged when it comes to learning about new cultures. Since you were able to take the time to make this woman feel bad, you could’ve also taken the time to read her youtube bio: SHE IS LEARNING. When you are in any process of learning how to do something, trial and error is inevitable. However, it appears that you don’t care about anything else other than painting yourself in a victimized light. This wasn’t the right way to inform and guide someone who was doing something incorrectly. AND YET- Did you notice that despite your tone towards the creator of this video, she still took your criticism into consideration. It didn’t matter though because you still chose to belittle her, and ultimately embarrass her for this. But then again feelings don’t matter unless they’re yours, right?

Hi nhi. Thank you for appreciating my culture. And we appreciate those like you who like to learn our dance and culture. And your ura is like your a natural. Most woman who are not of Polynesian descent have that stiff body or cannot sway the hips in a circular and sideways motion like our woman do. But you have the actions and posture and sway correct. Keep up the great work. All the best. Cook islands to the world. 🇨🇰👉🇻🇳

@@Ynhile93no need for thanks your welcome. I love seeing cultures embrace different cultures. And you'll have to be the first Viet lady I seen whether in public or or on social media do this. Oh wow. That's awesome. They are a very great dance group. I am of Tahitian Maori and kuki airani Maori and used to dance 20 years ago in new Zealand and Australia. But you keep going at it. And hope you create a dance group and from their take it too Vietnamese weddings, birthdays etc, where you can showcase hula there and make money. Gold way to add revenue for you pocket and potentially a profitable business. Keep the awesome work up. You are already a fluent dancer.
