I’m looking at excellente or frontier. Which one do you think plays/sounds better overall?
@stevebernard221
@stevebernard221 Месяц назад
I find the neck really comfortable on the Frontier. The Excellente has a more "fuller" or "deeper" sound. The Frontier is really clear and balanced. I think either guitar is a good choice, though. Good luck with it!

@@stevebernard221 but if you had to choose one! I think I’m liking the sound of the excellente more, but I can get a frontier for around 700 and the excellente is going to be $300 more. I’m wondering if the sound difference is worth the extra $300?

Hey Randy, check out a buddy of mine here. And so you know, I started learning to cross pick and open myself up to bluegrass and fiddle tunes from him. He is also from Newfoundland, but lived in Nashville for many years prior to coming back here. He has played the Opry several times, and played with several unbelievable musicians. Anyway, check out his version below. I can play a little like him and his version is the one I aspire to play the most....I will get there at some point 😂. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xh0ds5wNTlI.htmlsi=KvLZltfQ6mn327KC

e1d … i know but what is the difference with special?
@stevebernard221
@stevebernard221 3 месяца назад
The main differences are: 1. quilted sapele back and sides (looks nice, maybe a little more expensive); 2. Truetone gloss finish (very similar to Bourgeois finish - or the same as Bourgeois finish); 3. Perhaps the main difference is that it has a torified top (baked) I will eventually post a comparison video between the E1D and the Special. For me...I prefer a gloss, polished finish...I also feel the finish is like an eq of sorts....tones down some of the harshness you can get from the trebles. Maybe...maybe not, but just something I tend to hear when comparing satin vs gloss finishes. Also, baking the top will change the tone a bit as well. Differences are not super dramatic but are noticeable. Both versions are good, and really comes down to what you like.

STEVE!! WHAT SHOULD I BUY? THE FRONTIER OR THE EXCELLENTE??? I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW YOUR OPINION. THANKS!!!!!!
@stevebernard221
@stevebernard221 3 месяца назад
Well this is not easy! To be honest, you can't go wrong with either. If you want deep lush tone then go with the Excellente. If you want volume and punch then Frontier. But the choice is yours! Only real recommendation I have is play it before you buy it. I have played some new ones where they are not that great, and the quality control is less than what it was when they were first released. I wouldn't take the chance on ordering hoping for the best.
