When installing the Roth tank do you use 2 inch fill pipe and do you install the dip tube. That’s a clean look I think I would use 496 filters so you can see how bad the filters are getting
Probably getting up there in age so they want to replace them before it becomes very costly when it’s too late, lots of towns seem to he going the above ground route.

you never mention the downsides of anything it is always this is great way to do tank removal this is great tank old one was bad this one good. nobody does a tank removal like that they made a mess standing tank on end and cutting it that way there is zero chance of their being highly flammable fuel in tank or the oil burner would have blown up you can cut oil tanks with a sawzall while it is horizontal then clean it before moving it. roth tanks swell when filled so you have to leave space around them the plastic caps come loose on top and have to be retightened they fall over easily if empty outside installation is crazy expensive with hood concrete pad anchors to keep it from falling over and oil man needs a ladder to reach fill on top and if he hangs hose off plastic fill while pumping because he cant reach it he can break the plastic connections to steel fill nozzle I like the way your new episodes contradict this one where you show the oil can't explode and they cut it open with a saw
terrible job of pumping out old crap then putting it in new tank what about water ? and bacteria in oil causing it to break down into sludge? why did they tip it on end when sludge is clinging to bottom why not cut sides open and scrape it clean before moving it.

Okay I live in the state of Maine I had one of these tanks installed outside I just found out dep wanted out of my yard have no idea what the hell is going on had an issue with the tank in the first place all plastic pieces on top found out it was a recall because the fuel gauge kept popping off every single time they would fill up the tank the people that installed this put it up on 3/4 and stone Topete off the ground on a cement slab dep inspected this they also built a wall around it made out of pressure-treated board and then filled in 3/4 in stone and put the cement slab on top of this two feet off the ground now dep wants it out of there they said this tank is not supposed to be outside is this true or not it cost $5,000 for that tank they want to put a stainless steel tank outside now what do I do about this problem
other tank companies that install them say it has to be on a concrete pad and strapped down so it won't tip over when empty with a metal hood on top to keep rain off it since it can get in seam between sheet metal and plastic and make it rust. the plastic fittings have to be retightened because they work loose, and the guy filling oil can break plastic fittings hanging hose in fill pipe since it is so high off the ground.
5 micron does not remove the bacteria in the old oil which causes the rotting of the tank in the first place. Its also does remove any of the water. Never put old oil into a new tank. you void any warranty on the new tank. either have the home owner run the oil down or recycle it. expect any sludge problems to continue.

@@jeffreyrichardson that tank is a 30 year tank with a million dollar clean up insurance Granby Tank is now have a 3 year warranty and they have raised their prices so their about the same price and their welding isn’t looking up to par. I would still use a Granby outside and a Roth inside
This is one of the better installs that I’ve seen on the internet. I like the two filters I wish the filters had glass bowls so you could see when the filters are getting bad and if your getting water in the tank and gunk😊
What is the difference in height from empty to full. I’ve heard that the walls expand 1 inch from empty to full. If the height changes then the fill and the vent pipes that come through the wall are moving then the connection to the tank can come loose. I’m I right or wrong.😮
Excellent video, spent 15 years in the refineries in California, Nevada and Washington. My Shoulder, Back and Knee gave out over those years, one at a time. I sure miss that job, Union Journeyman. Thanks for the video
Unfortunately, you cannot hang your pipe from the fire sprinkler piping. That is a violation of NFPA 13 and hopefully was caught by the inspector before this was finaled; that is if the fire inspector was involved with this process. Usually a plumbing inspector wouldn't have the slightest idea unless they also understand fire sprinkler piping and bracing requirements.

It is a good one of a kind product for getting prepared for a mega drought without the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my mate after a lifetime of fighting got great success with it.
My God, what a nightmare! I had an underground oil tank in my home when I purchased it in 1985. A couple years later, they ran a natural gas line through my neighborhood, and I was able to switch over. Got rid of the tank and eliminated the possibility of a environmental disaster. Been very happy with gas. It's cleaner, quieter, and much cheaper.
Just did one at my summer place in ME but it was a PITA. Had to transfer the oil into the new tank, pull the old tank out, transfer the oil back into the into the old tank, move the new tank into place and then transfer the oil back into the new tank (getting tired just thinking about it). Fortunately had less than a 1/4 tank when I did this. Stood the old tank on end and cut it into 3 sections with a sawzall. Took the last section (with the sludge in it) into the back yard and set it on fire to burn it off and then all 3 sections to the dump.
you just voided your tank warranty. If its a steel tank expect it to start leaking within 1-4 years depending on how bad the old tank was and youll be on the hook. never put old contaminated oil into to a new tank. zero exceptions
That’s awesome. Is fuel oil still a big thing in your state? Here in WI, it’s diminishing. Almost everyone has or is in the process of converting to natural gas/propane.
