After the first 2 blocks, this drive is in Oak Park. I lived with my sister in Oak Park the summer of 1980. Nice to drive down Harlem and Madison again. The prairie-style strip mall in the corner of River Forest that went up sometime in the last 20 years still looks great. I see there's a Gap on the corner where Oak Park ends near where the old Woolworth's was. The Old Navy used to be a parking lot. There was an Arby's between there and the Lake Street el that had a bullet hole in the window the summer I lived there.
Yes, Chicago is a real city. Thank you. That's why we still consider ourselves The Second City, despite Los Angeles surpassing us in population. I think you mean downtown. He never drives through the Uptown neighborhood. (It's about 5 miles north of The Loop around Clark St., near the Lake.) He doesn't quite make it into downtown, which we call The Loop. After the start in suburban village Oak Park, he drives through the West Side and then University Village, near the University of Illinois at Chicago and finally to the Museum "Campus".
Hello Lars. A Nice and neat video here. I also saw a video of yours on beale street, memphis, Tennesse. Its nice too. Please i will be really glad if you can allow me use the video. I wanna use the video in a web design contest. I will be so glad if you give me the right to use the video. Thanks a lot. I will be glad if I get a reply. Thanks.
you white folks better stay west of Austin Boulevard, stay in Oak Park, because east of Austin Blvd. is Chicago, cops don't do shit to protect you over there. People pretty much do whatever they want in Chi-raq.
That looks more like a MID-TOWN than a suburb! I think Elmhurst is more suburb, like Lombard and West Chicago. I LUV THIS CITY~!@#$ That's why I'm standing up for this!
Oak Park is a semi-affluent inner suburb, settled in the 1830s, but not incorporated (as a village like many Chicago suburbs) until 1902, when it won its independence from Cicero. The home of Frank Lloyd Wright from 1889 until he abandoned his family for the wife of one of his house clients in 1909 to Europe. It has semi-integrated neighborhoods of churchy/liberal families, yuppies and African Americans. Jeopardy champion Colby Burnett used to teach World History at Fenwick Catholic High School in Oak Park. It is a perfect rectangle. Very nice, civilized and very city-like. Well-regulated streets, curbs, trees. Austin is the border with the city and the gateway to one of the highest 4 crime neighborhoods in Chicago, called Austin, where Colby Burnett grew up. When the driver makes his left onto Jackson, he drives through Austin and on into the West side of the city and past UIC, which is southwest of the Loop. Then across Roosevelt into the museum district, with its new luxury high rises and the remodeled Soldier Field, which looks like a spaceship landed on the colonnades.
This ride starts in River Forest, a wealthier suburb, but whose lots are still fairly small and very orderly, the home of reputed mob bosses (the rich ones compared to Cicero). The villages share Oak Park River Forest High School, one of the best schools in the state.
Nice sounding NAV system you have there, if you dont mind me asking, is this one capable of having the voice changed to something else, lets say mabe a pirate or as drill sargent? I have one and some of the voices are totally outreagous
I want to sympathize with "Midwestern clouds", but I believe clouds, like the sun and moon, are the same the world over. Tree cover, buildings and hills or mountains will make the sky appear differently, but a cumulus cloud is a cumulus cloud.
Thank you for the kind words :) In the beginning of the video, we are driving in the western suburb River Forest - the intersection between Bonnie Brae and Lake Street to be specific :)
the video starts going into Oak Park, Illinois , hometown of 95 year old actress Betty White, and Kathy Griffin, also Cecily Strong of SNL grew up there.
Even though I'm Brazilian, but I always found that Chicago has the best suburbs in the U.S. And closing with the Downtown Chi-Town along with Lake Michigan. Great video!
Thank you for the kind remarks about my video. I'm no expert on answering specific questions about how to upload to RU-vid, but I found this guide online, which I hope can help you: www.wikihow.com/Upload-a-Video-to-RU-vid
Hi! Nice vid. I visited KSC a few weeks ago and when I tried to upload my own video (very much alike yours) I got a copyright infringement from a french company called W4TCH . Did you also get this notice? it seems like its related to the Launch footage. If so, How did you go about it? B.R. Mattias S
We are not in the real North of Italy but we are in the northern part of the center of the nation . From here in Florence to the North change a lot of things like the nature , the pronounces of the words (the dialects) , the food , the traditions . In the North are : Emilia-Romagna , Liguria , Piemonte , Valle d'Aosta , Lombardia , Veneto , Trentino Alto Adige , Friuli Venezia Giulia . Those regions are very different from Toscana in all aspects . They are more different from Toscana than how Toscana is different from Marche , Umbria , Lazio , Abruzzo , Molise (the center) .
