This is literally the school I go to, and with the help of a new band director, we've made many improvements. I've even got several marching band and band solo awards since then.
Good morning, In regards to Sam's comment, I 100% agree. Let me tell you why. I come from a small private school. My school focuses 100% on athletics and doesn't understand on what has to be done in order to improve it. People have been leaving like flies over the years. My band is the same size as this one. Same Quality, same size. I am 1 of 2 trombones in the band, and the other player sucks. Around 1 month ago, the director of this band decided to put trumpets and trombones in the front, and I am screwed. At this time, the day after tomorrow is our first parade, and I know we will sound like this. I try to do everything I can to change my school band, but I can't. So now I will be humiliated and there just isn't anything I can do. So before you judge people as a whole Hannah, you just should know that sometimes, There isn't anything you can do about it.
Please as a 3rd year marching band preformer and a 6 years playing trombone I know people who don't understand how the Temp and weather effects the playing ability. Rain= no woodwind only brass. Lightning =nobody. Cold= harder to play. Warm= easy to play. The reason why it's hard to play in the cold is because your jaw muscles and cheeck muscles are tense do to the cold brass touching your lips. When I was a freshmen our section leader told us to put our mouth piece in our pockets and to blow warm air on it to time to time before we play. Now it's easy to play with hot air since all you're mouth muscles are loose and are not tense making it easier to play. Now in the video I notice a couple things the band could improve on but these things are very common in every high-school marching band. And it dose not have anything to do with size. 1. A couple members feet are not on time with the others but that could be because they are newer members or freshmen. 2.The tromboneist in the video had his trombone slide pointed down I do not know if it's supposed to be raise higher like how my band was taught I do know bands who teach Trombones to do that. And that's all now the reason I think that this is not the worst band is because when playing you can hear what they are playing instead of the band making chirps and being over all confused. The band looks like they are having a fun time. Some are even watching the DRUM MAJORS. NOTE: For any marching band member read this far DRINK WATER. HYDRATE OR DIEDRATE. NOTE: For the person who uploaded the video and the title can you please change the name? Note: To all the comments who support these band kids Be proud of yourselves im proud to see comments who can support the band. No band should be degraded unless a band has not practice at all. I can tell these kids worked really hard with sweat and tears. Any person who commented on supporting the band kids you show true band honor. My marching band are large and when we see another marching band we always love to go talk and meet or hang out with the bands no matter if they are from a different school. Or no matter of there size. Band kids with true hearts and confidence support one another. So thank you for the comments who support these kids. Note: any band member from this band Good job keep up the great work. do not let the title get to you. I do not know what the school name is. I am from the Marching Governors band. We are a pretty big band. I care for all marching bands from the smallest to the biggest. If there is any member from the band that would want some tips on marching comment below. But never give up. Also you guys get to have your mascot in your marching band that is so cool. Rember to drink water apply sun screan. Practice and work on your scales. Be safe take care.
I know this is late, but I joined marching band and I know the amount of work it takes to do this and you have no right to disrespect this band if you have never tried it
As a trumpet player in a marching band I obviously look at this with a critique sort of way, with that the fact that people say it is hard to play with numb hands are semi true but the band members in this video are wearing gloves which provide some heat for your hands when playing. Furthermore the fact that the band couldn't play well at all has nothing to do with the cold or anything it's the fact that they probably do not practice enough and do not spend enough time training. So in reality the title of the video is accurate.

Hey man. This comment was asked to be written by EMC Productions. I would appreciate if you would please change the title of this video or delete it. Giving a small school marching band a label as "the worst" is unprofessional and unfair. I know what it's like to be in a small marching band, and I know that it does not sound as high-quality as some of these larger schools, but that does not mean that you can label these kids who have tried and practiced so hard. Please do what I have asked or I may report the video. Thank you.
This is not the worst marching band. These kids have tried their hardest to sound good. It's not their faults that their band is small and they have not a lot of funding. Now stop being rude. I bet you couldn't even play one of those instruments.
My school is in the conference with this school. They rly aren’t a good school. No air conditioning, wooden bleachers, bad coaches, and the school still hasn’t been shut down. The band is gonna be worse this year.
Hey, currently a senior at the school featured in the video, We would like to thank all the words of support in the comments amd are pleased to state we made some significant improvements in the years following this video. (and the introduction of a new teacher) We as students all know this video exists, and we took the necessary strides to improve. Just found out through a family member of one of the featured players that the song was Shut Up and Dance. Never woulda guessed.
We once played Shut Up and Dance in High School. We weren’t playing it to look impressive, so I also wouldn’t like for somebody to call us the worst, either.
Not to mention, we’ve rehearsed that song in the cold many times. The average person wouldn’t BELIEVE how flat brass instruments can get in the freezing cold.
I don’t know how other bands work in this but in cold weather it’s difficult to play as i’ve seen in other comments Idk about other programs rules but percussionists in my band are prohibited from playing with and practicing with gloves on leading to extreme numbness where u start to lose feeling in the 30 degree weather that we practice in

Of course, the marching band try their best, but this video is still kind of funny. I’m a marching band student myself, but all the people getting upset need to lighten up a bit.
Bro doesn’t know how hard it actually is to march. Let alone in the cold. Trying to stay in sync while playing is hard enough yet still having to walk long distances either in the hot sun or in the freezing cold and then your neck hurting in the end it’s just a LOT harder than it looks so maybe don’t be so rude about it
Are you proud of this? I know you won't bother reading this comment but I'd like to say this anyway. Are you proud that you can post this video, openly trashing people that may have poured their hearts into this band program and just sitting there recording them, mocking them, and discouraging them from doing what they may have had a passion for? Tbh my school placed top 5 in the state 4 times and I don’t think this is bad, the way the move in unison is good in my opinion it takes a lot of hard work to get everyone to walk together especially if your a beginner
The temperature outside can affect the instruments sound. How many years of playing can affect your skill level. Being outside in the cold air with only your uniform on while everyone watching is clearly in bigger jackets, can also affect your quality of playing. To say they’re the worst band ever is pretty ignorant.
Honestly this video has been out for 7 years and is just promoting a negative impact on this band program, I personally have not reached the state of being in marching band band, I am sure if had to go out there and work on this for hours upon hours and then see this, I would quit marching band because this video (at the time I am seeing it) it has 155k views. You are always supposted to stay supportive, you do not know could have happen before this that could have happened.
I would ask that you would change this title or take the vid down because it is a form of bullying. Each band tries hard and even if the performance wasn’t the best the last thing anyone would want is for a kid to go online and see their school named the worst marching band and for them to not want to join or make a kid want to quit the marching band and honestly this was not the worst I’ve seen. Please change the title or take Down the video. If you don’t do one of the two choices within 30 days I will report this for bullying.
Coming from a small marching band, please do something about the title. It really hurts when bands like us get a slap in the face like this even though we’re genuinely trying our best
