👨🏻⚕️ Who am I? 🎵🎵I am the wind that blows 🎵 🎶I am the tide that roars. 🎶 My name is Abhinav Kumar. I am a junior doctor (means any doctor who has not yet got the full license to practice independently, aka someone who is not yet a "Consultant") working in the UK. I got medical degree from KMC, Mangalore India in 2020. Then I spent 2 years during COVID working on PLAB exams which are like USMLE but for the UK. I eventually got a job in the UK and now I am working full-time as a doctor, with RU-vid on the side for fun and information sharing.
📹What do I want to achieve with RU-vid? In today's time, we are all modern nomads. Birth, schooling, university, jobs... all scattered everywhere. My goal with this RU-vid Channel is to document life's journey regarding everything from getting a job in the UK as a doctor, to my passions, lifelong endeavors to learn, and the list goes on really. And if along the way I can entertain you, then why not?
Hello Dr.Abhinav I am about to start my plab journey....and my step being Ielts... what's your opinion when it comes to it's preparation...should I self prepare or join a coaching and how much time on an average should I take for completing my prep and give the exam and since I'm working for 7 hrs how much time should I allocate each day?
Depends on your confidence in English. That said, I'm pretty good at it but I still put in 6 hrs of studying daily for 3 weeks. I have a long 55 min video which speaks a bit on IELTS and also 2 dedicated videos on IELTS. You can check those out. I scored 8.5/9 in total.
I see you have gone through PTYA of Ali Abdaal. It seems to me you have all the right ideas , you just need consistency now. I really like your videos. Looking forward to them
So first you subtly try to discourage people from going straight into training. Then you outrightly say you want it "regulated". I wish the "regulations" existed BEFORE YOU came in. IMGs like you have forgotten how hard it is to know exactly where you fit in in a new system. We do MSRA because we actually want to be GPs. If anyone finds outs half way that it's not for them that's fair. So stop putting out these ridiculous videos.
Very wrong advice .People use GP to enter the system as a back door .I am seeing so many IMG'S who joined Gp trainee as thr first job .After 3 years what they will do ? They will get saturated and many Gps will come out,who doesnt know what to Do .After 3 years trainee who will give COS for another 2 yrs aftr training and later ILR .Bro you may get some money for putting this video. But see the bigger picture ,you are making a broken system more broken .
I have disclaimed multiple times about this route in the video. At the start, and again at the end. The government should definitely make this route more restricted to prevent misuse
You are a nice guy. Positive. Upbeat.. but.. brevity is not your best suit. Even I have that flaw. My aalaap is long. People have a short attention span. One must come to the point right away, without any frills. It's a rare and admirable trait. To date, I couldn't develop it. I hope you overcome this ! God Bless !!
Thanks for your feedback. I understand your pov, However some people just want an explanation as detailed as possible. So I spoke like I'd speak to a friend... Not thinking about time restriction and focusing on making sure there's no unanswered questions afterwards. For my goal with this topic, a bullet point style video wouldn't be effect
@@drAbhinavKr ok sir.. Thank you for reply. I am an international medical student. I am an indian citizen.i am planning to do internship after plab 1 as my fiance is British citizen. What can do for my daily expenses when I am doing my internship?
I find it hard to believe that a qualified PA didn't know what Guillain-Barre syndrome is?. I knew what that was before I even started my PA degree. Are these actually documented cases with evidence or is it primarily hearsay to fearmonger, it does make me wonder.. Obviously the PE lady was unacceptable, nobody should be missing those telltale signs.
Dear Brother Abhinav Kumar. Your videos are very nice. There is a lot of information. which benefits the audience. But updating the channel regularly will be better. Like the Best Thumbnail design, video SEO, and Video SEO must be done to find the right audience video. If you want, I can show you the problems through a screenshot. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
lol Once the GMC regulates Physician Associates, if they were able to move to the States, I think they would as the pay in the States is way more than in the UK
@@ThePushUKLifestyle you right PA in America 🇺🇸 can make up to 130,000$ a year Depends what specialty you're in. I don't know how to convert that into pounds. But figure it out if you're from England.
Everything is so much work. If it was easy, everyone would do it. Finally, remember pareto's law. Work 80% now and You'll live comfortably with 20% work later. If you only do 20% now, you'll have to do 80% work later just to survive.
Sir,should i choose kmc mangalore(govt seat) over bmcri if my aim is to clear usmle? I know that bmcri has very less exposure to usmle/amc culture but the thing is it has a big govt hospital which is very large compare to wenlock hospital, would it be wise to leave the seat? Please reply me back, state counselling starts within few days!
Sir, a different question from another video. Can you make a timeline like which time(month, year) you gave ielts, then plab 1, plab2 etc. Everything. I am interested in how much it would take at minimum to secure the job after mbbs. And also can we start applying from final year of mbbs, or after internship only. Thanks .
Great video Abhinav, It explains the teaching of Naval Ravikant et all, and simplifies the understanding for everyone. Great to see your clarity of vision. Hope you are able to achieve you dream! ❤
I gave you first like so please answer my question I am intern doctor from Telangana I am aspiring to come to uk but recent news about saturation is bothering me.is it really that hard to get jobs in uk after plab pathway? what's your opinion?
Of course there is no shortage. On GMC website you can see there are about 375k registered doctors and the population of UK is about 66M Do you think that 375k doctors are enough for 66M ?
We have Physician assistant in America 🇺🇸, they can prescribe medication they can order any test x-ray CT snd EKG. PA are a member of the health care team.
PAs, ANPs etc in the US make 5.7x more inappropriate CT/XR/MRI requests than US physicians do, driving up costs. This will happen in the UK as well, even more so since UK PAs get a fraction of the training PAs get in the states. They outearn doctors so much so that a London doctor would have to work for 19 years to outearn a London PA. PAs in the UK are a waste of taxpayer's money!
@@colephelps7816haha! You’re so off lol! Where did you get your figures that it’ll take 19 years for a doctor to earn a PA’s wage in the London area? Lool
Another question, now that passing mrcs and mrcp exams gives one gmc registration, can one use the registration to apply for junior doctor positions or fy2 or non-training positions to get used to the system instead of getting directly into the respective training/registrar jobs?
You mentioned they no longer take GP and PSYCH trainees directly through the mrsa exam route, So is there a way for an IMG outside the UK who has not done plab to enter into UK directly into GP or psych training without doing plab?
Hello Abhinav, I hope you are doing well. We have been following your UK videos and find the information you share very helpful. My wife has completed her MBBS and has three years of work experience. We are planning to move to the UK through the PLAB route for her MD. We want to know if she will be able to sponsor a dependent visa for me and our kid. If I am not mistaken, my wife will be applying for a healthcare work visa. Can we move as a family to the UK through this visa? Or is there any restriction to the sponsor visa? Kindly let me know
No such restriction for doctors. Ideally let her come first and settle in the UK for a month or two, start in any accommodation, single room shared flat, etc and then find a bigger flat that can house the full family. Then come as dependants.
That's not false hope. It's more of a risky call to join the nhs in a training post. Because basic knowledge of the nhs as a system and how it operates is lacking when an IMG enters speciality training. And if god forbid huge mistake happens and you're sacked out of training. That would be a career ending situation at least regarding practicing medicine in UK because your chances of getting into another training would be so slim
I was in a trust grade post sponsored by a trust. Fy2 standalone posts are training posts sponsored by HEE. I'm still doing trust grade F2 but starting training in a month as hee sponsored ct1
