The Seattle Children’s Chorus originated in 1989 when Kris Mason, founder and Artistic Director of the Chorus envisioned a community-based program that would provide a high level of choral training and experience for interested young musicians. Now under the artistic direction of Dr. Jean-Marie Kent, SCC is embarking on a new adventure. Rehearsing each week in Shoreline, Burien and Snohomish, we welcome choristers ages 3-20. The Seattle Children’s Chorus unequivocally supports our singers and believes celebrating diversity is an essential element of lifting our voices in song. We foster an environment that honors the identities and cultural backgrounds of our families. We work to create an equitable and inclusive community where all feel they can bring their true selves to learn and grow together in music, regardless of class, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and any other aspects of who they are.
