I am a woodworking hobbyist and want to help other hobbyist in the pursuit of this fun and enjoyable hobby. You don’t need a big shop and fancy expensive equipment to produce some really cool projects. These videos are not intended to be a step by step how to do it video, but to give other woodworkers and those aspiring to be woodworkers ideas and get their creative juices flowing.
As a woodworking hobbyist, the majority of the projects I make are either for personal use or are donated. That is not to say that I do occasionally sell a project that I have made, but selling my work is not my primary goal.
@@ScrimigeProMidtownPro I was going to say it should work fine. As with any finish on a stained piece, as long as the stain is dry. Thanks for your comment.
The company needs to find a way to slide The Jig when you sharpen chisels or plain blades so you can utilize the full width of the abrasive and not in just one spot
On the butt end of the jar, how do you get it up and down to have it so it swivels so you can pull the jar straight out that’s what I’m looking forward to do to make it easier for anyone. What is your ideas?
Hey I am working on making a bird feeder for a service project, and I am interested in following your tutorial! I have all the tools you used, but when I go to home depot to buy my wood I think I need a little guidance. would you have any recommendations for the type of wood/size and how much I should get?
Great videos. Ever build a fly through bird feeder? I looked through your videos but only saw birdhouse. Wife wants one. Very insightful stuff for us novices!!
The best and most simnple, easy to understand/follow instructable for 3d carving in carveco to date!!! Ive tried the others, no slayed it. Thanks so much many. And thank you for your service.
Dog is going to get tangled around the post....shorten the leash tht u will be connecting to dog collar....then place stoppers on the main line 1ft longer then the length of the leash line
Thanks for the video. I’ve been looking for a replacement fence system for my 45 yr old Powermatic cabinet saw. Hard to stomach the prices for a solid fence system these days! This one w 7’ rails is now $589, which is about what I paid for the saw a decade ago.. Vega is a bit less but has the round rails that I’d like to get away from, and I keep reading the finish on Vega is poor (everything needs deburred). The lesson here for anyone buying a used saw is to be certain you like the fence.
You do know they make Phillips bits for drills now.... I will walk 50 yards to get a Phillips bit instead of picking up a screwdriver right beside me lol.
I like it it’s basic and simple, but you didn’t describe how you can pull that jar out without spilling more tipping it upwards. Now on the butt end of the jar I’ve seen where you can loosen the screw and it’ll tip downward and just pull it straight out.
I’m thinking about doing the same thing, but putting a small sheet of plywood over it for reinforcement and so that I don’t have a big hole in the middle middle of my cart
It cost way to much money to buy all of the stuff needed for some 70 + year old man like me to do So I just go to Amazon and buy all of my bird feeders. I did give you a like 210
I here what you are saying. If you don't already have at least some tools or plan on further pursuing woodworking, purchasing the item could be your best route. As for myself, woodworking is more than just a hobby, it is my therapy. Thanks for your comment.
If I were your neghor I would ask and pay to to make me a ground bird feeder . I just bought a Gray Bunny one and it is way to small and does not have a roof on it.
Agreed. Unless I'm cutting a large piece I will use a push stick, I also like where my fingers currently are. As far as the riving knife, I only removed it for photographic purposes. Thanks for your comment.
Yes, any oil based poly will yellow over time. On the other hand, water based poly will not yellow, but with that said, I have not had any success in any water based wipe-on poly. Thanks for your comment.
This is by far the best video (imho) on RU-vid on how to build a bird feeder. The others just whizz through the process waving their fancy high powered equipment and talking at breakneck speed as they leap from one stage to the next. In marked contrast, you stick pretty much to basic tools and explain and work through each stage at a sensible pace. Thank you so much. I can't wait to get started !
Thank you for your comment. I appreciate what you said, as I made the video specifically for the beginner woodworker. The project comes from a book a wrote for beginner woodworkers that can be found on Amazon www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BBJRKZG7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought the same saw a couple of years ago and went through the same process with the fence. Now I have a very solid and reliable table saw set up. A question. I noticed that you have a 4” dust collection hose connected to the cabinet. How well does your dc work with the saw? I’ve not had much success and was wondering if you have any feedback. Thanks, Nick.
It is a good saw overall. As far as the dust collection, it's not great, have to push the saw dust into the DC port with a stick every now and then to clean out the cabinet. Thanks for your comment.
Sorry to hear about the house fire. Hope everyone is alright. I like the design with the front hinged. Noticed what appears to be a bolt sticking out at each end (5:38 and right at the end). Purpose? Any plans or dimensions? I notice that these filter boxes often seem to be deeper than necessary, or is there something I’m missing? Happy New Year and stay safe!
I was securing the side filter with a little block of wood, the bolt sticking out is to secure the front filter with a little block of wood. I don't know how imperative it is, but the reason the boxes seem to be deep is to allow enough air in the inside of the box so the unit isn't starved for air. My understanding is that if the filters are to close to the units intake it will starve the unit of air, making the boxes deeper (bigger) allows for enough clean air to be inside the box as to not starve the unit of air. Thanks for asking about the house. We are settled in the new house, still working on getting the shop up and running. Hopefully I will be posting some new video soon.
Hey Andersen, great project! I wonder, do you think this system would work well for clamping down bigger objects as well? I can imagine that when the clamping force is applied on a higher point that there will be less friction on the dowel. What are your thoughts on this? Have you tried clamping down bigger objects this way? Cheers!
How big are you talking? The 12" clamps should be able to hold down pieces up to 6" (and possibly larger). I'm also not totally sure the purpose of the question, the purpose of most any dog hole clamp is to keep the piece from moving while working on it, not to provide adequate pressure for glue ups. Does this help? Thanks for the comment.
Sorry for the delayed response. Don't know how effective a run like this would be for cats. As a cat parent myself (have a total of 12 cats, 4 of them are pure indoor cats), and living out in the sticks (neighbors across the street are goats and cows), I just let them out. For a little clarity, I don't live where this dog run was built anymore. Thanks for watching.
HELP! I've watched your video, along with several others, to learn about wipe on poly techniques. I'm restoring vintage speakers from the early 80's and so far I've been able to refinish all three vertical sides with ease using similar techniques but the top of the speaker has been an absolute nightmare. I've removed and redone these top surfaces 4-5 times now because once I get beyond 2-3 coats i start getting this white film or fog across the surface and I can't figure what's causing it. I'm not sure if it's due to temperature difference than the vertical sides, the cloth that I'm using which is a cut up white t-shirt. I just can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
