I'm a scientist and self taught engineer that works on researching and designing better recirculating aquaculture and filtration systems. My knowledge of fluid dynamics can help you find more gold faster and more efficiently. But I'm a novice at finding gold out in the bush so I hope you will join me as I share my expertise and learn and apply the expertise of others.
If you are new to prospecting like me come along and enjoy and learn. If you are an experienced hand I hope I can give you some pointers on fluid dynamics. If you are an experienced hand and you have your own RU-vid video that illustrates a point you are trying to make, expands on something I'm talking about or corrects something I've got wrong feel free to add a link to the relevant specific video.

I would argue it is not gravity or friction that is the primary determinant of where gold stops moving, but it is rather the force of flowing water and its direction which are primarily responsible. I can see gravity playing into that but friction seems absurd. I think you need to clarify with either some demonstration, graphic, or source for anyone to take you seriously as I suspect what you mean by friction is not classical friction. Further - you are getting too hung up on the word ''pressure'' when you know damn well that within the hobbyist community it is used in a way that has essentially become common to refer to phenomena other than pressure, but, it coveys meaning in a way that is broadly understood and therefore has taken on a colloquial meaning. It's like saying you need a Kleenex when what you mean is a tissue. We know what it means. A short clarifying statement is all that is needed and being aware of this semantic distinction should not form the basis for your claim to fame.

It's AMAZES me how few prospectors do TESTS! Eg, verifying design w LEAD: How else can you compare input vs recovery to verify angles, water volume & sluice lengths I'd hire a hydrologist & fluid mechanical engineer to optimize & verifying design using lead. (I literally searched for "sluice eddie current analysis" to find this & other videos)

If you design your own can you calculate change of direction at a 90 degree angle change the profile of the flow. Institutes mates at the new turbulence area you would think at low velocity through a box 2 changes of direction would be enough other than overkill

Ok reference to last experiment. You have created laminar flow through the center of the pipes. Big size reduced to smaller than back top big again same venturi effect. Though the air that is allowed into the system has come from the smaller pipe because it has less head pressure. Volume of water meaning weight pushing on system. Head pressure can be irrelevant to actual pressure of outlet. Just the volume pushed by atmosphere alone. A larger bore reduces pressure losses. SO by going from large to small to large again, you have created a venturi within the system as the low pressure swirling water when it goes from small to large is having a vacuum effect sucking more increasing the KPA at the smaller nozzle trying to fill the larger diameter pipe. It has now referenced the least resistance in the small bore pipe to suck air into the system by least amount of friction by pipe size and cross dimensional area of atmosphere and surface tension of the water. Also in the system by increasing flow with no pressure to allow for extra water to push through the water turbulence would be greatest at the small junction another venturi sucking air in to eqaulise overall pressure of the system.
@no88o2
@no88o2 Год назад
If the engineers were smart enough, couldn't they use an algorithm to control an electric butterfly valve. Using the square meters or kilometers of the reservoir calculating the atmospheric pressure on the system referenced by a float valve indicating depth of reservoir 1m meter of depth = 10kpa of pressure at atmosphere. Pipe sizing like plumbing. Length of pipework + material used / friction loss per meter to each individual turbine. Max flow of outlet += flow of water able to travel through system/ the efficiency of turbine/ recommended RPM to produce optimal KW/h output. The valve would automatically adjust the orifice size to let the appropriate amount of water running through the system for optimal RPM of turbine.
@no88o2
@no88o2 Год назад
Or referenced to the output requirement of the system, using RPM of turbines to equal generated output. You could use previous as a predictor. But as real time output measured by demand could control a valve. By using previous data as a reference predict flow for peak times to prevent outages and predict slow times to conserve water . Because batteries are shite and use alot of child labour for cobalt to produce them. Less environmental impact controlling the resources that are already in place. No oil for transport.

"Pressure is a Ratio." Yes, people have trouble understanding this. There's another Mining Concept people also fail to get, and it's simple: "Heavies fall out first." Truth. And if that particular piece of granite is the size of a bus, it's going to fall out faster than a piece of flour gold.

Soak hard or sticky clay in a large bucket of water for a week or two and use a long piece of wood to stir the mixture every now and then, any heavy material will settle at the bottom of the bucket then pour off the top layer and refill with water and repeat, there should be gravel and maybe gold to see. Cheers.

sounds like someone needs a electromagnetic bar close to the moving tin dioxide particles since they can be magnetic. somewhere flat and jus a bit higher than the classified size. but away from the riffle bases ( wouldnt want them grabbing gold flakes now would we)

in the other video you say that these places where the gold is deposited are actually high pressure zones an not low pressure zones, and now youre saying most gold is actually deposited in low pressure zones? very confused

Thank you for informing me that Bendigo has a Gold Prospecting Expo. I contacted the organizer and was informed that they had one in April this year and next year's event has been booked for April 15th - 16th 2023, providing there's still a green light and people can have or go to events? So I'll be going to it and I love the pack animal concept! It's a shame Parks Victoria wouldn't appreciate the use of one on my large dog, not to mention the people at RSPCA. A lot of people just like getting in the way of some good clean fun? Happy Prospecting mate

Get rid of Hungarians and get a dream mat. Also try stucco lath over miners moss. The lath creates thousands of small whirlpools. Much more so than expanded. But what do I know. I still have a day job. Catching gold is a lot easier than finding pay-dirt.

Well, as a 30 yr practical sluice, I wonde= about what you didn't include in your fluid dynamics and water eddy hypotheses are:..how much does the floor material change the theory and, what about the shape of each succeeding riffle and any changes to the floor material between each riffle? Can't you put a receptacle (like a bucket) at the end of the sluice a with a fine screen or layer of screens to catch the fines (or at least check them regularly? Just saying.
