Thanks! I've been fortunate not to have a deep winter yet, where I had to stow the boat for the winter. I did pick up some marine antifreeze and poured some in the bilge when we had a cold snap. I drain the carburetor every time. I purr the main engine every couple weeks and keep the batteries on trickle charge. Aside from that I store under a carport, so far no issues
good stuff, if you still have this boat maybe you could show some of the many modifications you have made yourself to make it work better for you, ie the extension for the multi rod holder structure on the transom, the roller for the anchor on the bow, the cross beam for the downriggers, looks like speakers on there as well, etc, thanks in advance
Hi Mike 👋! Unfortunately, I don't have this boat anymore. I believe I used Berkley rod holders on a metal frame. As well, I installed a short piece of 2 inch PVC as a net holder on the transom. The cross beam is just a wood treated plank painted blue. I installed a Bimini top from Amazon, which I moved towards the center of the boat. It is more for my guests than the captain as it gets in the way for angling in the rear. The bow anchor roller was a custom welded aluminum frame. I had a buddy weld pieces I precut and basically installed an auto stop lever if I'm not pulling upwards. It was a really fun boat to modify. I sometimes wish I still had a small boat for those gem lakes.
@@bbtvfishingismyhappyplace yes the attachment that’s supposed to help coil the rope. I just got the unit, but I was thinking of trying it out without the tool first. Looks like the attachment works pretty well though

Yes, I absolutely agree. Unfortunately, I had to lose a few fish before realizing it. This season, I've been playing with trolling speeds while on a big fish. I've had better success but still lost a few. I'll keep practicing 😊

That's awesome! I have encouraged my daughters to fish from age of 3 and now we all go out as a family. They can handle a few hours of salt water trolling at age of 5. It's a great way to spend time together and being unplugged.
Wowee! Ocean trolling gear at age 5, that's pretty awesome. I'm getting my son into ocean fishing right now. He likes it, he caught his first ling cod and ocean hatchery Coho last trip. I also agree, sharing fishing and spending time with the family on the water. So fun 😊 Thanks for watching!! 🐟 🎣🎣

This video really helped me out, thanks a ton! I took my Depthpower 1101 apart and couldn't figure a way to bypass the switch and test just the motor. Do you know of a way to do this? Could I connect power directly to the two posts sticking up on the motor? Didn't want to fry anything so I didn't try... I connected power to the plug and had power at the relay so I know the cord is good.

Gave you a sub Bro, I run a fishing charter out of Sooke BC. My downriggers take a fair amount of abuse over the season. The late model Scotty's are the bomb, the high-speed modern models drop cannonballs with one wrong move. :)

I hear a very slight clicking on two of my injectors and no fluid is coming out. The other two injectors are clicking much louder and spraying a good pattern. They all ohm out the same around 12.8-13. Could two be bad?
Coil looks good, sounds like it's clogged! Buy a other set, install it. Clean the originals and use as spares. Good luck Preston! Let me know how you do

@PrestonBrungard I recommend to keep the 2 used ones as spares and install brand new ones. For how much they cost and the hassle on the water, you might aswell.

We didn't realize we would love it as well! It's not like the super expensive popular alternatives that the Philippines has to offer but it's a great budget alternative. @@bbtvfishingismyhappyplace i think the button got fried, the engine wouldnt start after a shut down via the tiller stop switch, so i disconnected it from the wire harness and it started right up. Of course there is the secondary kill switch but i would like to get the tiller button replaced so its functional. I tried to take the tiller apart to get to it, but no luck, and there isnt much on the internet about this.

Yes, unfortunately, it's a small lake. It's a very productive lake despite the annoyance of the sports boats. I'm still confused about why they like to go to such a small lake. As for my preference for lakes for fishing... it's quite an open question since there's so many, lol. Region 2, kawkawa, and alouette are my choices for my particular boat. Prior to the boat upgrade, I enjoyed Hicks and Jones Lake very much. I also like the fishery in Kamloops/Merritt. I frequent Stump Lake and enjoyed lac le Jeune once. Highway 24, Cariboo is another favorite area. We enjoyed the Sulphurous lake, Watch lake, and visited Lac des Roches once, but it wasn't productive that time. Next, we'd like to visit Deka and Sheridan. So many lakes to try and not enough time 😅. What's your favourite?

@davidson2004fatboy definitely produces nice sized kokanee for such a small lake. I fished buntzen before, but I don't have an electric kicker anymore, so that's the end of that for me. Glad u had a good outting! 😃

I've only ever seen the gates closed in off-season, Dec 1 to Feb 28. In the nice summer days, yes, it can get busy. I'm usually an early bird when it comes to fishing. 6/7 am to 1pm is best to avoid the sports boats. Good luck fishing! 😊

@@bbtvfishingismyhappyplace I must have a very old unit as the reed switch is 'L' shaped. I'll probably have to replace the whole switch assembly. Btw, I placed a stronger magnet near the reed switch and the motor worked. Probably a failing reed switch but I'll replace the whole switch.

When you're camping via "back country," it's first come, first serve. These spots are not bookable. You have to find your own spot. It's a great option as the bookable spots are usually full and crowded. $5 per person was the price we paid on the alouette booking website. Hope that helps! Great video, but sometimes it's not the injector, electrical could be the problem no power coming to plug in or wiring harness, find an injector that works and replace, if not working, there is no power
My 8 hp mercury is brand new and this will be my first oil change it only has maybe 9 hours on it but I was wondering if I'll need that gasket since it's brand new?
It's recommended to change it every time.9 hours? Is that what the manual recommends on the first oil change? I change mine once a year, and it's definitely way more than 9 hours of use.
Hi, HREC! Thanks for reaching out. Don't get too down on yourself. It's a part of the learning process, and you will now be armed with knowledge in case it happens again. Besides, now that you're able to run, it doesn't mean it's fully fixed. You'll still need to get to the root of why your injectors fouled. I had a fuel contamination issue. My fill was taking on water due to poor design. I put the fill on a 4 inch riser and I've had no issue since. Hope that helps. Best of luck and happy boating!
