Rabbi Katz, you are an inspiration. I am proud to say that I was at the Chabad House of West Hempstead on its opening day. Thanks to the warm hospitality, I was able to reconnect with the Creator and my Jewish faith. A place that feels like home, and a rabbi who is like a father. Why does it seem like almost every Chabad Rabbi is so ignorant of history? When Alexander the Great died 3 of his generals took over. They were not trying to spread Greek culture & modernize the world. They were mafia thugs who only cared about money & power. A group of Jews formed their own mafia & told the king if he places them in charge of the Jews they will collect more taxes than the king is getting now & there will be quiet in Judea. The king agreed. This Jewish mafia was worried if Jews stay religious one day they will revolt. So the JEWISH MAFIA leaders banned the Jewish practices we're familiar with in order to win the Jews over to their lifestyle. When the Religious Jews rose up to get rid of this mafia the mafia couldn't quell the revolt so they called in the Greek army to assist & being allied with these Jews the king had no choice. That's the TRUE story of Chanukah. The Jews didn't join the Greeks the Greek mafia helped the Jewish mafia (though obviously failed to quell the revolt).
