Echoed all my thoughts. I actually really liked nine track mind as well as voicenotes. I warned myself and all the songs after that, I forced myself to like because I liked Voicenotes and Charlie so much. His TikTok style music definitely isn’t as good as previous work. Also, social media does put everyone at risk of oversharing. Looking at his interviews from Nine track mind/Voicenotes era, the impression I got of him was talented (even if the perfect pitch thing did become gimmicky) and hard working. After that, he started only complaining about relationships and giving off this entitled “nice guy” vibe (girls keep messing me around and not sleeping with me) which on top of his music not being as good, just really gave me the ick. It’s a shame because nine track mind and Voicenotes were SO GOOD and he was a very talented artist
One thing that’s probably played a big part in the decline of his career was his management people forget he was signed to Birdmans Cash Money Records which honestly I don’t think labels that primarily work with rappers really know how to market pop artists especially preteen pop singers Justin being signed to Scooter who already worked with a lot of young pop acts was the perfect match for his career plus having a major artist like Usher guiding you in your career probably played a major role in his success as well unfortunately i don’t Austin had all of that at his disposal not saying Birdman doesn’t know how to market his artists but working with a rapper I’m sure is totally different than working with a teenage pop star who’s fan base mainly consist of teenage girls
He has a great voice, he dances and also composes great songs, he has alot of talent, whoever said otherwise is cuz probably they've never listen his songs! The thing is, we live in a different era in which just having talent is no longer enough and the proof of that is all these people who come from Tik Tok 💁🏽 most of these people are not talented, but they have a pretty face and that alone is enough to attract the attention of thousands of fools and most of these Tik tokers want to be singers even without talent 🤷🏽 unfortunately this is the music scene nowadays!
Most of his music wasn’t all that good and he was just a typical cliché. More than likely the record labels fault. Music suffers now because artists can’t have creative control.
By the way i love "Shawty Shawty" by Austin Mahone he sampled a Mariah Carey song "Always Be My Baby" i don't get why it did not become a hit, as i said it was a bad timing but he is in a better place actually then Justin to be honest
Just bad timing just like Jessica Simpson versus Britney Spears, but Jessica has been #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, Sony is a major company, Jive for Britney is a smaller company with a typical european sound by the swedish producer Max Martin, Jessica album was created by the former singer from Color Me Bad, Sam Watters, an american producer, and to be honest Jessica have a powerfull voice, Britney was a good performer
You literally spoke my mind. At first I like him, but after voicesnotes I got obsessed with him and waited for a long time only to be disappointed again and again until I finally let go for my own good😢
❤ if music 🎵 not for him it have acting , a model for brand name clothes. He will do gr8. He has alot of potential. I love him don't want to see him disappear.
I love the stuff he posts on TikTok, but I wish he could like show us how to create music that he won't release-like random melodies that isn't part of his album. To be honest, I prefer Voicenotes and Nine Track Mind over his new album. While I really like his single 'That's Not How It Works,' I didn't enjoy his new single 'Lipsticks' as much. But he is producing great music behind the scenes these years. He's the one who wrote 'Stay' (by Justin Bieber and The Kid LAROI) and 'Harleys in Hawaii.' As for his songs in 2019, the others aren't that impressive, but I really love 'Cheating on You.' Being a huge fan of Charlie all these years I have complete faith in him❤❤❤
You probably wasn't wit his journey!! U aren't a fan drr 😂 lol U clearly wants to hear it only wen it gets popular??? Like overrated 🤣 lol funny 🙂🙂He probably said he just wants to make music n not fame ur not his fan 🤣🙂 Look at him now - still releasing everything on tik tok .. n still every one loving it- 2023 🙂🙂
He's a disappointed fan. I loved every single piece of music before 2019. I knew so much about this guy and would always research about him, and I tried to enjoy his current self, but eish he has disappointed me so much
Yeah you nailed it. Can you talk about the album and how you like it? I find a lot of the songs sound the same, with the same sort of circular chords and no build up of layering :(
I don't like TikTok but please TikTok community make Austin popular agaaaaain. Now (2023) that pop boyband style of music is coming back so I wish Austin can have another chance...
I agree with you on pretty much every point. 'Voicenotes' is brilliant in every way, criminally underrated. His 2019 music wasn't good, and I agree that 'Girlfriend' was a big improvement (one of my favourites and wouldn't feel out of place on 'Voicenotes'). I'm not sure if TikTok ruined Charlie's music as a whole but not gonna lie, 'Charlie' was a bit underwhelming. Especially so given all the hype generated when he first came up with 'Light Switch' (which I think is good on its own, it just means the rest of the album pales in comparison). And so short yes! Pretty much every song clocks in under 3mins, whereas 'Empty Cups' is the only song under 3mins from 'Voicenotes'. I don't know if it is because we've heard all the songs already, like you say, that's why it's a bit disappointing and less exciting. Plus, listening to the bootlegs, I think a lot of his better songs ended up on the cutting room floor. I certainly enjoy learning how he makes songs though, all the tiny, tiny details he adds. But maybe he should show us only 5 of the 10 songs so there's still a bit of mystery and intrigue about the album. I think 'Voicenotes' is just better overall. I get that 'Charlie' is more personal for him, and maybe it has a more streamlined narrative through the album. It's a bit more experimental. he wants to grow and not just make another 'Voicenotes'. But from a musical perspective, the songs from 'Voicenotes' manage to remain unique while all being part of the same style. It has a funk, a groove, and a dance-ability to it that 'Charlie' just doesn't have. I just don't want 'Voicenotes' to go down in history as his only truly great album. I love 'Voicenotes' so much which is why I still think he has the potential to do EVEN better and create a really spectacular and celebrated album! His latest release, 'That's Not How This Works', is a big improvement for me so I'm not giving up hope yet!
Many people in the music business have to stand behind your talent and promote you for years. The market is now congested with talent thanks to social media. Makes talent less valuable because it seems everyone can sing and dance. There is always someone younger and fresher coming along behind you.
