About Pantera, I think Stikman is getting The Great Southern Trend kill mixed up with Phil's Down band. TGSTK is absolutely not racist it's a stab against mainstream music industries.
I saw Cold As Life in a small shack of a joint here in New Jersey called M&M Hall. F'n place was likely over capacity at 200. The set you guys played was like no sh*t I have ever seen. We had our local favorites here with Etown, Fury of V...and you guys stand out and beyond. MUCH LOVE FOR DETROIT FROM OVER HERE IN JER Z. BRING EM BACK TOGETHER JEFF!!
Motown even influenced al9t of the jjamaican music. Bob marly used to sing like otis redding... i guess detroit woukd send 45s iver with the car parts and such. Motown 7 inches
These guys have the most amazing stories to tell but they need someone to pull those stories out cause they’re not just gonna give ‘em up. I need a documentary
This was one of my fav H8CORE bands when I was in the the scene through the 90's even though I'm a nyhc die hard only bcuz that's where I was at and 1st introduced to the scene from AF & MAD BALL,WARZONE & MY guy RAYBEEZ R.I.P. down L.E.S. 123ABC(CBGB)among many others;Bull Doze, vod, crown of thornz so on too many I remember I copped the CAL DEMO off RICK TA LIFE at a show and just fell in love with em they were so fkn HARD By any chance does anyone know if you can still get CAL,MAD BALL ETC BASKETBALL JERZYS HMU LMK I remember the show w MAD BALL Definitely different times w the beat downs, fighting w police and a lot of us really did get lucky. When I went down I was so thankful for all the other shit I never got charged for. I remember ppl moshn thrown up pistols in the air @a club in NYC;won't name bands or the club, if you know you know.
My favorite band, grew up with CAL but there needs to be a better interview. No disrespect…but it’s obvious no research has been done and this kid was obviously too young to live the old Detroit Hardcore Days, not his fault but I could think of so many questions and just let them talk and bring back history. It’s an art to learn to listen and stop talking. Think Chronological order….you get two DHC legends in a room and need to be so prepared! Good effort and great to see them bringing up the old days but it can be so much better. Fingers crossed this kid interviewing can hone his skills and bring other legends in.
I appreciate your feedback. I do have to admit I wish I would have waited a little bit longer to interview these guys because I think I'm a little better at directing the conversation than I was almost 2 years ago. But also it's pretty hard to do research if it weren't there or don't know the people involved in the scene at the time. I have learned a lot since then and I hope to have them back eventually to dig deeper and get more of the story. If there's any particular questions you think I should have asked or would think are good for next time, I welcome them. 🙏 my email address is terrorzonepodcast@gmail.com. or hit me up on Instagram @terrorzonepodcast. Thank you for the constructive criticism.
No prob bro…there’s so much history in the DHC scene. I grew up in Canton…I can see your trying really hard. Don’t get me wrong…it can be intimidating with CAL originals in the room but they are normal guys. Just talk to them….They’ve both been through things you or even I can imagine. I love your doing this and I can see soon you’ll perfect the art of interviewing! You better get Big Joey Robertson or Eric Burleson on the podcast. These both are also legends of HC/Punk that also grew up in Canton. Also get Jeff West… CAL set the stage for Canton kids getting into hardcore at such young ages. Keep it up and again…no disrespect. It’s refreshing to see someone show the importance of Detroit Hardcore in the 80’s and 90’s.
@@scottbuczek2776 for what it its worth, I smoked a bunch and did a few shots before this as well lol. Was super excited and nervous. I never talked to these guys but have seen em around before Jeff went away when they were in H8 inc. And I was 18/19 then so the intimidation factor stuck with me based on the old first impression in 2005. But yeah, there's lots of questions and ideas I have now that I know more.
It's funny. Jimmy mentions opening for suicidal. He didn't tell that story. We had to rush the hell out of St. Andrews that night.. it was a fun night but we had to leave quickly.
We played with Cold as Life back in the day, "Coney Island High " saint marks in the village. I'm just seeing Terrorzone pop up, Our name was based on the area around Kev-One in the mosh pit that people dared to get in. That's what people called it. I'd like to ask C A L the reason they called their song the same title? A shout out to us or maybe they liked the title from the " KREATOR" song.....Lol. Lots of Terror,,,, Terrorzone references.....Lol. peace.... Hardcore still Lives!!!
@@paulzlotucha6944 I was just in NYC this weekend. It was pretty awesome tbh. Stayed in Brooklyn and went to the Triple B showcase. Great hc scene! Might come back for the BNB Bowl in May
@@terrorzonepodcast614 Cool, glad you liked it,,,if you come back, maybe we can hang in Manhattan somewhere. Talk about the early days of N.Y.HC in the Village. Peace, Paul.
Hey man! So my podcast is really based off Cold as Lifes "Terror Zone" cuz I'm based out of Detroit and thought the name would fit haha. But I have always been a huge fan of Terrorzone and Bulldoze. Much respect to both and RIP Kev One 💯 .
Too bad the documentary never happened. I watch the trailer all the time. 40 year old kid here from Sarnia, Ontario. Lucky enough to have cool parents back in the day that let us take the van to Detroit to see the craziest, most intense shows they could never dream of. CTYC. Douggie is the man. Nice, cool guy to us kids at the shows.
