He lived out a Citizen Kane type of arc. when he was on "terrestrial radio," there were so many competing markets that all were so bad he could have gone almost anywhere and also do what he wanted, which largely included endlessly denigrating the station he worked for, for entertainment purposes. Now look what happens when he is out of options and has to play ball with Sirius; his show ways already over and he thought he could revive it by doing horrible interviews (if you can even call them that, they are 95% Howard telling the person what they already know, 5% him putting words in their mouths). What amazes me is, even if he's gone fully delusional, you'd THINK someone at Sirius would step in and say.. "we didn't hire you to try to get subscribers by kissing A list celebrities asses, and that's the LAST thing the people who are subscribed because of you want to hear.
To play devils advocate a little bit, there’s not really anything that shocking about this other than the pseudo-tech leader presentation style. Howard has always been a ball breaker for organization and a businessman who strategizes behind the scenes. This is just him doing it more publicly and transparently. The politically correct parts of this were par for the course with how he was acting/trending on his show already…

My theory is that he was just wanting to slow down and make his job easier. He doesn’t want to carry the show with antics and hostilities would rather just kinda “retire” to big guests and be able to sit back and have nice conversations? Idk. That was me immediate interpretation.
This rant reminds me of every stupid meeting I ever had at 3:45 pm on a Friday right before the weekend. We were captive and just sat there hoping this idiot would stop talking. I feel for the audience having to listen to this horse manure.

All of these critical comments on here - so interesting how many people clearly don't understand the nature of a business. Undoubtadely a bunch of basement dwellers, flipping burgers on the weekends (if anything). People forget, Howard made his career being outrageous and challenging the status quo, in a time when decency and censorship was of great debate. He capitalized on this by creating an environment when a guy who was making the company millions could get away with things that the average guy could not. After his move to Sirius, he had to evolve to stay interesting. No more censors, no more management in his face - now his content needs to be something that reaches a broader audience. I may not agree with everything he said and the things he takes successes for, but his greatness in radio - even today - is unmatched. The guy just got an interview with the POTUS! LOL. You think the Howard Stern of old would have even been thought of if the mindset didn't shift? Not a chance in hell. He shifted his early career of shock and awe, and now leverages his skills as arguably the greatest interview of all time into guests that others would dream of. Say what you want, but the person HS became is who he needed to become to stay somewhat relevant in the industry. A stroke of brilliance tbh.

What made his show great throughout the years was not always the guests. Most times it was the interaction and bickering between the staff. That’s what made it entertaining.
