Great job recap the entire show and explaining some complexities regarding shocker. Guess I won't need to watch OG rider. :) Its a lot more cartoony in the original but I kinda wish they did show more of them kidnapping regular people for their goals in the movie more.
Yeah, Hiroshi Fujioka wanted to be in some other movie or something and there was conflict there so that’s why he’s gone for those three episodes. Also why there’s one episode where the Shocker monster is wearing a gold belt but just normal while Ikadevil becomes a general type and his belt is just normal.
Yeah that makes sense, but it was weird watching it because I was wondering where hongo was, and for ikadevil, I need to see some photos because I can't remember 👀
Yeah i think you nailed exactly why i didn't enjoy Shin KR as much as the others. As a person who watched the whole OG series when Shin KR was announced, i've always thought that Shin didn't completely capture the spirit of the OG series. Some of the changes it made really changed the vibe and i wasn't a big fan of that, like how SHOCKER isn't a Nazi organization anymore or how Tachibana and Taki are just sidelined to be boring FBI agents (like seriously Tachibana and Taki are like the heart of the OG show, i was so mad). Btw I highly suggest you check out KR V3 in the future! The series took what worked in the OG show and did it even better. Not to mention how it's also technically a direct continuation from the finale of the OG show, so if you enjoyed the show then do check out V3.
Soooo... I understand that the manga also played a big role that dictated the outcome for the Shin Kamen Rider movie, but I only wanted to focus on the comparison between the Tv show and the movie, mostly because I didn't have any idea that the manga existed prior to making this video :p
used to watch all ur ultraman related vids and a bit of kamen rider about a year ago. about a week ago i tried to find ur channel to rewatch the vids n i couldn't find it and it was buggering me, now yt recommended me this, well i'm glad i found u again, still miss ur old vids though :/
With the blade transformations, when blade and garren henshin they pull a lever on the side of the belt and a blue shield appears and block the enemy and they run to the shield, when chalice henshin he just slides a card in the middle of the belt, and when leangle henshin he pull the sides open and a purple shield appears and it moves to him
I believe the henshin can be as long as it wants as long the setup for it isn't long if you're henshin requires a attachment then that attachment better already be on the the device already or the setup to get it on mustn't be to complicated or long
Episode 2 of Ultraman Arc, the kaiju is literally about to eat a child and the protag has to solve a whole ass rubik's cube before he can save him. That's the sort of shit that takes me out of a scene.
In Malaysia around 2008~2013, there was cheap model kits of all the transformation item and vehicles used in Ultraman Tiga until Nexus. I used to bought bunch of it and now lost it 😢. My favourite is Lieflasher, all 3 of Super Guts jets and Mephisto transformation device. I can't remember if the toys are officially license but it was fun to assembled and play with it. Now I can't seem to find this model kits anywhere.
The Metal Heroes franchise's Space Sheriff shows do something unique: The transformations take milliseconds after shouting the transformation word, and then they replay the transformation but slowed down to explain how the transformations work, and they do this in every single episode!
It is a kids show. But I do like it when the Writers make the Transformation feel like something, especially when the henshin actually BLOCKS attacks. Anyways, subscribed...
i really don't care about length tbh, it depends on the overall atmosphere of the sequence and the characters themselves, like when the scene is serious and heroic, long transformation is fine.
Usually when it comes to sentai and raider there's the long version and the short version of the transformation. They don't usually do the full transformation and roll call every episodes.
I think the incorporation of henshin jingles and poses are mostly important for children to mimic and play pretend. Imagine playing pretend as Goranger and your henshin sequence is a whole spin. With all due respect for that series, the play experience itself would probably suck. Having a tagline and pose/motions attached to the henshin means kids can relate to them without going the extra mile of buying the toys. A bit of a tangent, because I'm well aware the point of the video is how long it takes for us the viewers to experience the henshin, and not the actual in-universe length itself (which usually prompts the "why don't the enemies just attack them mid-sequence" argument). It's not uncommon in the later parts of a series that henshin sequences get shortened to make time for plot relevant content, but Metal Heroes actually tried to normalize the shortened henshin as it happens too fast for the human eyes to comprehend. So a full minute henshin for the audience takes only half a second in-universe. I get that establishing this every series might be repetitive, while sounding kinda lame by the 3rd consecutive series, just wish it gets more recognition as a counterargument. The other side of it is henshin gimmicks that act as a defensive component mid-sequence. I'm sure there's plenty more but I could only recall Kamen Rider Gaim and Ghost off the top of my head.
I think tokusatsu is just following the rule of cool since the beginning, everything is a gimmick and it changes on each generations standards. Personally as long as its fun and cool I have no problem, though ngl some of them are cringe. Trying to act like anime characters is painful to watch 😭
I stand by this, what put me off with the recent tokus around the middle of the heisei gen, they implementation of anime acting by real people. Its hard to watch and cringe to see real people act that way, 🤣though I have no problem with anime action style getting in to toku cause it looks cool.
