Decarbonization, Canadian Politics, and Debunking Bad Science.
I started this channel because there was a lot of misinformation I was seeing about climate change and very few people engaging with those on the other side of the aisle. However, I plan on making an array of videos that interest me.
This channel is about: Commentary and reaction content to Canadian and American politics Live streaming map-making and world-building guides for tabletop RPGs Live streaming games like Timberborn, City Skylines 2, Baldur's Gate 3 and FrostPunk Pathfinder summaries of my games to help new GM's Helping people get into working out
@@oxtristynxo583 lol, it's more like I don't blame Trudeau for everything and mildly push back that Canada isnt some crazy shit hole. 😂. And negative attention has been the theme for my channel haha.
@@tiltantheluckyone he very specifically talked about looking to other countries. Now Canada isn't perfect and I should have prefaced as much. But this is a debunking video.
@@DDDecarbon you are not debunking anything? The claim is that there is nothing to look for in canada, not that canada is worse than america. Are you saying that canada is better than america right now? for me, it looks about the same. And to make your case even worse, if you literally take out some of the bad cities in united states (like detroit, baltimore, albuquerque, etc.), the stats for US improve drastically. Meaning, it's very bad in a concentrated area but the rest is good, or even better than canada by a lot. idk if the same can be said about canada, idk much about canada.
@@tiltantheluckyone did you watch the video I talked about where the states is kicking our ass like productivity, GDP/capita and housing. I was just debunking the conclusions he made.
More fires are set by people but more damage is cause by lightning which is exacerbated by climate change. I have a video on it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iqWig9WNfyc.htmlsi=30xpwyzLF7Ut5xXx
I'm not a fan of Bill Maher, in fact I think he's an idiot. But he's not 1/2 the idiot this poster is. This guy affirms his opinions more than Bill does lol
@@DDDecarbon you stated Bill's data was wrong because of how it's measured but didn't state how or why it is measured wrong, just affirmed your data to be correct. you stated housing crisis is "entirely domestic" and not recognizing the negative affect of adding 1.3 million people to the ongoing crisis, obvious hyperbole. What has American police officers murdering people have to do with a busty teacher from Ontario? What kind of mind puts those two things together? And then all that cursing and swearing to try and hammer your point home. c'mon buddy...get real. I'm no fan of Bill's but there is a reason he has millions of followers and you have under 300 lol
Trying to get the trudeau liberals off the hook by putting the blame on municiple government is letting them off easy. yes the municipalities should do better to build housing. but that is no excuse for increasing the immigration rate when there is no housing available. like you said it did not happen over night and it should have been on their radar and a solution found before increasing immigration.
The immigration issue is just a red herring to me. It's better to think of the housing crisis to have started in 2000. I'm not taking the blame off Trudeau. Pressing the immigration button with no regard to other economic solutions clearly has its limitations. But think of the reverse if we had eased zoning and business regulations. There'd be a good argument for additional immigration.
Do you have a stat. How can we empirically determined if a nation is more or less free? Some things will be more or less important. Like access to abortion or gun rights.
@@kenelliott6897 I'm talking about the historic causes and how it's lead us to the position we're in. Recent changes are a reflection of systemic issues over a couple decades.
After hearing this segment from Bill I was convinced of what I had been thinking of him more and more lately...hes an idiot. Either that, or he is the next contributor for Fox! Facts dont really matter as long as you have a spiffy punch line, or you can get those couple of goofs in the front row of your audience to howl loudly on demand. Or he thinks his audience is so stupid (like those couple of goofs) that as long as his mouth is moving, hes being clever. A string of stupid cliches just doesnt make a story Bill, or pulling nonsense stats out of your...out of the air. Ive had enough. Used to like your show, Bill, but youve killed off too many brain cells. Youre officially cancelled...(Thanks DDDecarbon for the fact checks!!!)
Bro you are either whining abt nothing on some of his points and along his other points you are just doing what you are accusing him of (ignorance) , you scream data data and misinformation but left (you) always use data in stupid ways and also most of the studies are tainted anyways . That’s what left of USA always does -they screamed for a year that immigration numbers are low at the southern border( data) because immigrants were flown tiring other entry points at much higher number totally , and same with dei stats ,wage disparity stats -basically every data/stat shouted by moronic left/liberal fact checker (like you ) .
Let’s all just agree that the far left are psychotic. Woke mentality is in fact a mind virus harming our youths. There is a mental health issue in western society.
@@pratikharwal www.reuters.com/world/us/rfk-jr-abortion-vaccines-housing-foreign-policy-2024-03-20/ People have their opinions about COVID. But to throw any shade on measles or other vaccines that have save millions of lives is absolutely unhinged.
@@DDDecarbon read his actin quotes , he never was anti-Vax for any vaccine (messes or other ) , he is against the kind of liberty the pharma industry is given when it comes to marketing and vaccine/pill studies
We're not a socialist nation not even close. We're a capitalist nation by every discernable definition. Socialism doesn't mean the government does things. Socialism is when they control the means of production.
If you put California on that list, you would even get worse scores for education. California is the 6th largest economy in the world and sucks at education.
My understanding is the south largely brings the average down. Education in the states is extremely heterogeneous, due to school funding being tied to regional property taxes. Where as many other nations are much more equitable, leading to better outcomes.
Canada does have legit issues. Look at the trucker protest. Censorship. Trudeau. Coming to the US for medical care. What do you do? You have oil. You explore the North Pole. But, what else. It cannot be just Air Liquide that provides for Canada. You have a porn industry. You have a minuscule Ford car production plant.
Yes we do have issues. I'm not claiming we don't. I'm just reacting to the lies being told by Bill. It'd be a 12 hour video address every difference between our nation's.
@@DDDecarbon I also have to add that Canada did not buy US military jets, because they were not sure they could fly in cold weather. What? That is ridiculous.
@@sammcbride2464 this was a really dumb bureaucratic nightmare. Of review after review. Like if you're worried about the F-35 working in the north then do some joint training missions up there and test them out. Again I'm not going to say we don't have issues. The way I'm moving this channel is to talk about actual solutions to these problems.
Without the right to bear arms freely, the rights you have are the rights you have just for today these are not guaranteed . This in addition to your speech laws yeah I don’t look to the world to place the United States where they feel it should be.
Is it a free country when the PM, declares martial law, calls out the military and police to break up a peaceful protest, who aim sniper rifles at said peaceful protesters, ride over a Aboriginal lady with their horses, tear gas, and club them? Also never forget they stole people's bank accounts for donating to the protesters. Trudy had said to paraphrase, if it had of been BLM he would join them, taking a knee in the street. So much for bodily autonomy, which in Canada you don't have. And not even to get into Canada is rapidly becoming India.
There's a nuanced discussion about the trucker protest to be had for the use of the emergencies act. The truckers at the end of the day were conducting an illegal protest making the lives of the people in Ottawa miserable. Laying on their horns at 2am is less than peaceful. As for the the India comment, that's just a racist dog whistle.
@@seamikki6510 it's responding to Bill Mahers claims about Canada. Whether Trudeau stays or goes likely won't impact many of the things talked about. Seeing as they are mostly municipal and provincial issues.
@@DDDecarbonwell he does say Canada is what happens when you go far-left when I feel we have always been a very middle ground country but its Trudeau who has gone way beyond FAR-LEFT and no Canadian wanted any of this. So if Trudeau goes we might be able to be seen as a proper country with actual values and not the "wokest country in the world" as so many other political commentators see us. Even if the points aren't directly stated to be about Trudeau, with him gone probably more then half the points he made would be spun around and hopefully headed in the right direction. So yes. Trudeau-must-go is right in my opinion.
@@GypsyGaming8883 maybe. I don't support Trudeau regardless. I just don't think PP will fix our problems either and we need to focus on real solutions.
@@DDDecarbon Agreed. Leadership at all levels municipal provincial and federal. However, I can tell you from experience the federal government sets the pace since it has power over money distribution it collects. Follow or suffer is this Trudope reign.
Bill looking at economic outlooks of a foreign country and trying to say 'this means going left from where the U.S is bad" shows the brainrot of American media
Bill Maher's segment is a classic example of the fact that you dont just get to be right about the problem, you also have to be right about the solution. Anyone can point out that housing costs in Canada are untenable, and we certainly have our share of issues. But to go from that to assuming that it's our "left wing" policies causing all these issues without further evidence is absurd on its face. Much like how the Republicans aren't wrong to play on the fact that many things are wrong in America, they are just wrong about how to fix them.
Exactly, I'm trying to use to use this channel to work towards solutions. In many cases that actually means municipal and provincial competency. To many people blame the feds for problems they don't actually have power to fix.
Are people leaving or staying in Canada? I ask that about democrats who say there policies work. Top blues states in USA people and businesses are fleeing. Colleges in the US are mostly left leaning. Do you think colleges are improving? Canada like the US need entirely new leadership.
@@Rambletambleforever 100% a lot of Canadians go to the states for work. There's a lot of issues that neither left or right want to address. Many Canadian issues would get solved at the municipal level. I did engineering which is generally insulated from the insanity of weirdly left university. Even so university requires openness to ideas and change so it will always bias left. I'm going to make a number of videos addressing a lot of these issues with the solutions. Like housing policy, business, immigration etc.
@@Rambletambleforever I've made videos on him. He's not a psychopath, but we would have been a lot better off with Erin O'Toole assuming a conservate win. PP has much worse fiscal and social policy.
@@andyds11 they added what's called point access blocks. So 6-8 story buildings with a single staircase. It means a smaller footprint for much more utilization and 3 bedroom apartments. I'd argue it's one of the most important zoning laws that could exist cause it can take a single family home lot and turn it to an 8 family lot.
There is some nuance to the stats I've provided. For instance a 5% unemployment is typically targeted as it captures the transition of people working. One issue that's come to my attention though since making the video is Canadian youth unemployment is quite high. Additionally I'll be making some future videos on immigration and how it's become a scapegoat for actually solving problems in Canada.
@@DDDecarbon the stat that you quoted that I disagree with the most is using test scores to measure school quality. our son went to school for three years and Ireland where they have good test scores but not good education. This went to Seattle. Definitely had a better education, but I’m not sure about the test scores.
@@andyds11 the American school system is kinda all over the place it has extremely high variability due to the localization of funds. But I'm not sure about Ireland. I found Canadian public schools to be great personally.
@@DDDecarbon The education in the US is largely controlled by county. The primary school I went to was in Ft. Bend County, Texas. It was a very good school. Good teachers and a good principal. The problem that I see with California since I moved here is the lack of discipline. They let the kids and parents manage the teachers. Also the politics lately with DEI. This thing lately with no test scores or SAT/ACT is utter crap. We need standard assessment to go to college.
@@Quelqu1234 I think the liberals chances are higher. But gun to my head I'd still say conservatives win. If the liberals oust Trudeau their chances will be better. But like I said their already in the worst case scenario so they might spend the next year passing useful policies to sway public opinion.
You know whats crazy about this conversation, an entire country is defending itself from another country for the amounts of (non-liquid) money that a single person (musk) can potentially have to themselves. Need to tax Musk into the ground.
It's a drop in the ocean. But unfortunately even taxing Musk probably wouldn't work cause it's mostly assets. However, I'll be talking about land value taxes in the future and oh boy would that be able to deal with a lot of tax evasion.
The previous stance on climate change was just part of his charlatan performance. He never really gave a shit about climate change. Just look at how many 30m flights he takes on his private jets. He launches hundreds of methane-fueled rockets every year.
It’s a conversation. What have “YOU” done better than Elon towards climate change. You sound so bitter with a foul mouth, like he pissed on your Cheerios. 🇺🇸TRUMP2024🇺🇸
I was point out the hypocrisy of Elon supporting Trump while claiming to support climate action. Biden is clearly much better for climate change and Ukraine. If you care about neither issues or really any policy at all or democracy then Trumps your guy. But I'm sorry swear words are so triggering to you. I didn't realize Trump supporters needed extra coddling I'll do better next time to make it a safer space for you.
perhaps musk would have given the same treatment to kamala harris, had the harris campaign taken advantage of the invitation musk gave them, to do an exact same interview as was given trump. perhaps instead of focus on what you see as pandering by musk, it could be more redeeming to point out and postulate as to why harris would have turned down an opportunity for such a huge platform...
@@daiichidoku I doubt it. Musk had thrown his hat in with Trump prior to this. So I think it would have been much more combative vs this puff piece. But I agree it would probably be worth doing for Kamala. I tried to stay a bit more away from that part of the conversation being a Canadian.
@@daiichidoku fair enough, I meant more about discussing American politics I try to stay with the Canadian side + Ukraine cause I care about that conflict. But there's enough people who talk about American politics I don't really feel the need to.
You accurately point out the Musk has said different things in the past than he's saying today as evidence that he's lying. There's another possibility. He's lost his mind.
Hahaha, I think he knows better. He actively worked towards stopping trains in California with his trash Hyperloop because it would cut into his bottom line. While virtue signalling his care for the environment. I honestly think he just likes Trump tax cuts and is using the power he has to try to make that a reality.
